With how deep this team is I think Mick will do line changes like in hockey to wear out the other team and run run run but the bad thing about that's is its hard to get in a rhythm and there for more points in the game but not one person being the "main guy".

12 ppg really isnt that much

There are 5 guards on the team, kj will be good but there are 2 sf and Shaq will also play some pf, he will see the most minutes and have the most ppg for the simple fact that the depth chart sets up for him, and I still think he will be our best player, although I agree I think kj will be our best shooter, I just imagine a lot of rotation at the guard spot for defensive purposes.

I dont think the depth chart sets up for Shaq well at all. He has to compete for minutes at the 3 with senior Sabders and up and coming Morman. He doesnt rebound well enough to be a 4 and we have Clark looking like he may start and rack up big minutes right away. If Shaq is going to lead in minutes, he needs to be a completely different player than anything we've seen so far in his career. And he needs to be that player in every single game.

"If he can get to 235-240, he's going to make a lot of $$ in the NBA. He's a great story," @CoachCroninUC on return of Octavious Ellis.

I disagree Sanders and Shaq will play a lot at the same time and both can play the 3 and 4 on defense and spread out teams with our offense. Like I said Shaq and Ellis will lead in minutes theirs no doubt in my mind on that.

I agree with you. Shaq will see the majority of the minutes at the 3 at least early on in the season. There is still upside with Shaq that isn't there with Sanders. Mormon is basically a freshman so he will have ups and downs.

To note: Clark is a more traditional college basketball freshman, he will be turning 20 years old on Nov 16th, you compare that to Caupain who will just be turning 19 around the same time. I didn't even turn 20 until after first semester of my junior year. Interesting stuff.

I agree Shaq will start at the 3. I just think he will be pushed. Not necessarily on a short list, but we have some young guys chopping at the bit to eat into his minutes. And if they play hard and do what Mick wants, they'll play. I just hope Shaq somehow figured out how to always be fully engaged and in the game. On Ellis...if he is up at the top in minutes, I think that is great for this team.

With how the new offense looks I doubt Shaq or Sanders see many minutes at the four. It isn't designed for undersized small forwards playing down a position with what has been installed so far...

It seems to me that the only possible players to play the pf position would be Clark (the only true pf on the team) Ellis who I would think would predominately play the 5, or Shaq and Sanders. I guess it's really all about match ups but if the other team has a quick guy or a pf that could shoot from long range playing the 4, when Clark isn't in the game I would have to think Sanders or Shaq would guard him.

Moore, Strickland, and deberry I would hope don't play the 4 unless we play zone, but even if I wouldn't want to see those guys at the 4.

I just don't see who else you guys will think play the 4 is what I'm saying

I think Moore is more athletic than some of us have given him credit for. I think he will do just fine playing the 4 against more traditional power forwards. When we play against smaller, quicker squads, Clark will probably eat up most of the minutes and maybe in those scenarios you will see Shaq or Sanders play the 4. But it sounds like the plan is to keep Shaq and Jermaine at their natural positions.

90% of the time I would say Shaq or Sanders will play at the 3 I'm just saying don't be surprised when they are playing some 4.

I agree with you on Moore I think in time he is going to be a solid player, but I'm not gonna lie I think if anyone red shirts this year it's him. Not because he lacks the ability but because he is the only possible person I can see Cronin using it on and red shirts someone every year

Clark will play the 4, Deberry and Ellis will eat the lion's share of minutes at the 5. Sanders may play some 4 but I agree he and Shaq play predominantly at the 3 so that may free some minutes at the 4 for Moore.

Strickland, Mormon and Cobb are the guys I'm really interested to see how Mick utilizes. I can see Mick having a unit with Cobb and Moore that plays against the zone. Mormon will see some time at the 2 and I think some time here and there at the 3.

Mick has a lot of guys and only so many minutes to give. Some of it will be ironed out through the two exhibition games and early cupcakes but he has to get the team ready for tougher competition and league play and with so many new guys it will be a tightrope between getting guys time and prepping his primary unit and back ups for that.

He will be 20? thats a pretty old freshmen. I was one of the older guys in my class and I turned 19 in september of my freshmen year

As much as I'd hate to say it, I see Guyn starting, at least initially. I could see him and Caupain starting side by side. KJ will likely come off the bench. My guess:

Guyn
Caupain
Shaq/Sanders - hopefully Shaq gets the nod
Clark
Ellis

I'm concerned about the lack of experience on the inside but not much you can do about that.
