I agree he plays hard and has talent but he has shown nothing in games so far its all been in pratice and the Bahamas you can't put much stock in talent alone. He will probably be really good as a JR and SR I just don't think he's going to make that big of a jump this season from last.

I understand your concern about the jump some are expecting. But the reason he was not able show anything last year was he was backing up one of if not the best player in college hoops, not many if any would be able to prove much backing him up because he was just hard to take out. With that said he learned from the best last year and showed signs late in the season that hes ready, hes not afraid of the moment and is very competitive. There will be some growing pains but im very confident he will be a double figure scorer and a have a very good season. this season will be a lot of fun

I hope your right

Ge is reliable. Johnson is the better player but he has to work on his ball handling. The turnovers were an issue in the Bahamas as well...

I guess you didnt watch Memphis, Nebraska, or the final two weeks of the season last year. Instrumental in winning those games.

KJ is the future and the more gifted player but people need to realize that GG had a hard time lifting his arms above his head last year due to his injury. By all accounts the surgery has helped and GG is looking good. I've heard several times that Troy Caupain has really come on the past month and a half - two months. TC is a young man with a bright future and it's good to have guards that can play either spot. Chances are there would be times TC and GG are on the floor at the same time regardless of the starting line up. I don't care who starts as long as the team wins.

Turnovers are typically an issue with a young team. Mick has emphasized limiting turnovers so if Kev is having problems in this area it's no surprise a starting position is at stake. The staff wants him to understand the importance of keeping the ball. Turnovers cost them several games last season and nearly cost them the game in Louisville they won.

I think we are very lucky to be in this position. We have so much depth this year and we are still playing 1 scholarship short, correct? If so, I hope Mick doesn't redshirt anyone. Unless they absolutely won't see the floor. If he did, I think Moore would be the only option. I am extremely excited for this season, but I think next year we will be even better. We lose Guyn and Sanders. That's it. And I think everyone can agree we have the talent already to replace them (no disrespect to everything they bring to the table).

The lineup possibilities on this team are ridiculous:

Ideal lineup: Troy, KJ, Shaq, Clark, Ellis
Big: Troy, Sanders, Shaq, Ellis, DeBerry
Press: G, Morman, Shaq/Sanders, Clark, Ellis
Three: G, Cobb, Sanders, Moore, Ellis

I agree with a lot of this, except the three. I might put KJ and Caupain ahead of Guyn when it comes to 3pt shooting. But it's very hard to tell. Cobb is still an uncertainty. It will be interesting to watch.

Your putting your stock in a player that is fresh because he didn't play that much all season and the teams he's playing against are worn down and some had nothing to play for?

Cobb is arguably the best 3pt shooter on this team and if my memory serves me right pretty much every game last year all Guyn did was hit threes when he shot.

I think all BearcatNation was saying was he is still an uncertainty. Just from reading about him I am imagining a 3 point specialist that will play 10-15 minutes a game. Come in running baseline to baseline for open corner threes and have guys kick the ball out to him off drives.

Last year Troy and KJ both impressed me with their range and shooting. Guyn was impressive as well and hit some big ones. The reason I had Cobb on there was just from what I read.

Guyn hit under 31% of his 3's. I know he had an injured shoulder, but he was even worse his first 2 years. I do think he has a nice looking shot though, so I expect him to hit closer to 35% this year with a healthy shoulder and more confidence.

What? Memphis and Nebraska had everything to play for against us. Other teams were playing a top 20 ranked team and some were in the conference tournament when their very season was on the line. What are you talking about?

Im putting my stock in a player who scores at all three levels, no longer has a first team all american taking all of his minutes, is a great defender, and hit big shots at key moments last season when given the opportunity.

Guyn will be more aggressive toward the basket this season. He couldn't absorb contact last season. Anybody looking for him to be a lights out shooter will be disappointed but I think the 35% someone suggested is realistic. That will keep teams honest and he seems to have a knack to make timely shots. If he can get close to 38% I'd be thrilled.

He can also play some lock down defense. I think the bulk of the PG minutes should go to Caupain and the SG minutes to KJ with Cobb and Guyn being more role players. Guyn deserves a ton of respect for playing through a tough injury last season. I hope he goes out on a high note for his senior season.
