Stumbled across this on GoBearcats. I thought all along this team's success would rely mostly on how well Cash matured into the role of running this team on the floor. He is starting to show his potential. Granted doing so vs. Ga. Southern is different than doing so in the Big East, but you got to start somewhere.

I have said all along he needs to play off the ball cause he is a scorer, i recant my opinion because he is starting to put scoring and dishing together.. Man we are lucky he will be here 2 more years... Good game tonight.

Don't forget that when UC teams have been at their best in the last 20 years, they have had a scoring PG. Van Exel, Satterfield, Logan. Those three could fill it up but could run a team. I feel like we could add Cash to that list by the time his career is finished. He has a sweet stroke from outside and has done a nice job finishing around the rim. I don't know if there is a guard in the country that could keep him out of the lane without playing 5 feet off him and giving up the three.

I'm glad to hear you say that. I remember your posts early in the year and I thought you were nuts to say he should go off the ball, especailly in favor of Parker. Cash hadn't proven anything yet at that point but I had hope that he would prove you and others that shared your opinion wrong. Mostly because that meant we finally would have a worthy point guard.

It so hard for us fans, myself included, to realize he was only a freshman last year. We've been so hungry to win, we want these guys to come in and be great right away and that's just not feasible. Cash, Dixon and Gates are all improved and starting to show why that class was considered a good class at the time. Typically you don't see a normal players potential until his third year in a program. I'm just glad we are at the point finally where we are realizing potential and not still waiting to see. Don't get me wrong there's still a lot of room for improvement on this team, and next year as good as that class is they will all be freshman and will have to have time to adjust. But maybe, just maybe Cronin knows what he's doing.

Cash was trying to do way too much early...when he settled down the team looked much better.

He did come out trying to do too much. In a way that's good. He needs to learn how to control himself and be consistent. He made the necessary adjustments and was completely different in the second half. That is the sign of a good player and a mature player. And I'd rather him get this out of the way before conference play starts. He knew it was a big game and he was trying to step it up and be aggressive. That's not a bad quality to have. Hopefully the next big game, he will come in more calm and play within himself.

I unlike most people will let every one know when i am wrong..Cash has a lot of room to get better in the PG aspect of the game, but he is showing flashes of possible stardom.. i think now that he is comfortable and able to have more options to pass the ball to he is going to flourish. If his 3pt shot keeps on with the speed he has, he will be leading the team in scoring on numerous nights this year....

Probably the most impressive stat line for Cash is he has made his last 16 FT attempts. He is also 20 of his last 21. Over the last 7 or 8 games he has been every bit as impressive as Bishop from the line. 95% over last 8 and 100% over last 7? Are you kidding me?

Perhaps even more impressive is how we are shooting FT's to end close games. In a few close games toward the end we have probably been well over 80% and probably closer to 90%. If that is any indication of how we are going to respond in pressure situations this year...it will be a very good year.

Agreed. The situational free throw shooting as a team has been exceptional and Rashad and Cash have been money at the line almost the entire season. So nice to have multiple strong free throw shooters. I've even seen positive signs from Ibrahima recently at the line. I think this team can shoot 70% from the line. They are not far off at all.

As many games as they pretty much lost at the line last year and to think they are actually shooting the ball this much better leads me to believe that they are ready for tournament time.... The last 5 yrs every time they go to the line i cringe and then tell every one around me that i could shoot better blind folded.. So in years past the area of concern has been-
1- PG play
2-Scoring options
3-free throw shooting
4-3 pt shooting
5- 2 pt shooting (layups)
And now all we as fans has to worry about is there 3 pt shot which is not terrible but definately not great, this makes a team so much easier to watch and makes me feel like they are ready to take that next step.....

I'd say most all of those things you listed are better (than last year), though still developing... I really think Cash can be something special if he continues to develop... he tried to do a little too much during the OU game and we all should be glad that occurred and the 'Cats still got out of their with a ten point victory... I think a lot of good teaching points will have come out of that game for the 'Cats because it was against a BCS opponent with (similar) talent and athleticism...

I had zero expectations that Cash would be as improved as he has shown. I'd rather have a solid PG than a Born Ready..no offense to the former Cat.

Even after the poor three point shooting against Oklahoma this team is shooting .367 from behind the arc as a whole. Very respectable. They shoot it very well from three point land when they take the right shot instead of one pass and jack it. That was the issue at Oklahoma, especially in the first half. It's all about shot selection for this team and Saturday night you could easily see they were trying to do too much. I think they wanted to make a statement so bad they allowed their execution to slip.

Mick has ranted that cash can flat shoot the ball... He has showed signs of that. Most of Cashs threes missed, are short, right on target just short. Maybe a bit tired on the court at times?

His shot will only get better imo.
