Not as bad as it seems.

Is this were w are going. I thought we were having a discussion. have you not watched the games. we are getting killed on the perimeter. Most of which is set up by going for steals and getting blown by with dribble penetration.

oh and if you want civility on the board then demonstrate it or as I sugested last game ignore my post.

Lol. C'mon. I'm messing around. That was such a clear straw man point.

I'm not arguing about our dribble penetration. Just saying no need to mess with Cobb. He is right in the role where he belongs imo.

I have zero idea what Jenifer looks like in practice. But Mick himself has said he'd like to get him more minutes, so I'd assume that means he's doing fine.

For me, it's just too tough to judge someone thrown into the 2nd half of a Top 25 battle for a single 2 minute spurt. Anyone who has ever played basketball understands that kind of feeling.
I have played and coached many a game. But that is the process. If Mick would like to get him more minutes why doesn't he leave him out there. I have never gone to my coach and said the reason I'm not playing well is because I need more minutes. I kicked the guys ass who was taking my spot everyday in practice and forced my way into the line up. I guess times have changed.

I agree he is good in his role. He can do better. If we are going to have the kind of season we all want he will have to. If that means handling the rock until Jenifer is ready to contribute then so be it.

The important question is are we happy with a mediocre program that wins very few league championships and just makes the tournament every year only to get beat in the first or second game? Or, do we shake things up and try to get to the next level? This season, Mick finally tried something different and we saw something we've never seen before from his teams, and we liked it, and it created a ton of excitement. But, at the first sign of stress, we went right back to the old ways, tightened the rotation, started walking up the court looking at Mick and waiting for him to call a play, etc. It's a vicious circle. This brand of basketball will never attract the level of talent to get us to the next level. Early in the season, I heard multiple ESPN analysts suggesting we were a potential Final 4 team. I know exactly what they were thinking. They finally saw big offense and depth out of a Cronin team. They knew the defense would always be there. That combination meant something special was about to happen.

How deep do we look now? Everyone has given up on Jenifer and Quadri. Shaq and KJ are bums. Deberry's minutes have fallen as well. We're walking the ball up the court and killing 10 seconds of an already shortened shot clock waiting for the coach to call a play. Sound familiar? We evisioned this year being the season where we might get to the 4th or 5th game in the tournament. But, we've let teams come into our house and defeat us again. We've squandered every opportunity to make a statement. All this while slowly evolving right back into the same type of team we've been for 10 years.

Here is something we can all agree on. We need to play better. Lets start with Temple.

Jacob everyone needs to play with more consistency. In my opinion no one is playing to the level I expected except Evans. He has been a plus.

I think Caupain is starting to learn to keep his foot on the gas.

Shaq must be kicking Evans' ass every day in practice.

Your a big donor. Quit wasting your time convincing us and go to the BOT. They hired him. I'm for anything that leads to us improving. All I would say to you is be careful what you wish for.

Its really more then that for me. He just doesn't have that extra gear to get in the lane. I've also saw how this year he has been exposed defensively by some quicker PG's. he may be the best we got and I hope your right but 2 1/2 years in his game doesn't scream PG to me.

Its a long season. shortening the rotation was going to happen when we got to the meat of the schedule. Finding roles and building continuity is a must and very difficult when trying to play 10 guys in different combinations. Especially doing it within the context of the game. I guess at seasons end will know if mick made the right decision.

Who says the rotation just has to tighten as the season goes on. X and WVU, just to name a few, have stayed with a deep rotation and they are a combined 22-1, and are looking like special teams.

Here is a guess. They have better players as X already demonstrated. I could also find you a few that only play 7,8.

Earlier this yr Mick said starters could change. He knows how good Evans is. It is like the FF yr. When we lost our first game if memory serves, Huggs took out AD and started NVE. Of course he was better than Evans but it is clear we need him starting. I hope there is a lineup change today at SF.

Put satterfield in starting 5 over LOGAN also

I'd rather see him change his approach like he started to do this year. Then nobody would have to go to the BOT. Did you happen to notice how there was almost no Cronin talk on this forum early in the season? He's promised this stuff for 10 years, but he can't get himself to stay with it. If we had stayed with the 10 man uptempo style, we would have still made the tournament, and probably still have made it to the second game at least. But, it would have at least appealed to talented offensive players who won't even consider us now. The current system has proven that it doesn't work if we want to be a big player in college basketball and it doesn't attract the type of player we need to take the next step. Everyone wants to fire Tuberville for making a bowl game every year and losing. How is this that much of a difference?

FWIW, if we don't go into prevent against Butler and ISU we'll be topic 10. If nothing else jenifer needs find way on court final 6-8min EVERY game. Not only does Caupain be gassed he also can't get easy buckets for teammates down stretch

Outside of the redshirt PG x doesn't have better players. Coaching is where we losing against them

Maybe the players are better because the coach continued to show confidense in them. One thing is certain. The more you play, the better you get (if you're on the lower end of the rotation). Has Caupain gotten better with more minutes? No, his shooting has gotten a lot worse. Is it fatigue? Maybe. Who knows? With our talent level, I think depth is key. Just my opinion.

You think 10 deep wouldn't mattered with Bashir??? Mick learn to take good with bad, the good looking bad anyway. Moore and jenifer have skill sets no one on team have. If they wasn't going to play, Scott should've thought harder about not sitting out. Team surely lacking his athleticism

L-T, I do not follow the cats because Mick is the coach. I think there is some merit to your point concerning what will attract kids. The number 1 thing is playing time and exposure and can he get me to the next level. Mick has built a nice program around kids who will be here 4 years and hopefully graduate. He has also got them to the NCAA. I have no interest in rooting for a team like KY that brings 5 news starters almost every year and graduates no one. I have kids that were athletes. I know how tough it is for them to get to class and practice and stay eligible. They played sports that did not have the pro pot of gold. That doesn't mean I begrudge the kids that can make a living playing a game. I think they shouldn't even have to go to college to enter the draft. Now if your telling me you think Mick has underachieved or has reached his ceiling do what you got to do. I am satisfied rooting for the kids he brings in. I wish the results were a bit better but I'm fine at this time with our situation. If there is a way to improve our situation without turning us into a KY. You have my support.
