Just heard Mick being interviewed on WLW by Willie Cunningham and Willie said something about us being one of the Top 10 defenses in the nation this year because we were last year, and everyone is back. Mick's reply was music to my ears. He said, "Willie, we won't be one of the top 10 defenses this year because we will be playing at a much faster pace and shooting much quicker." To hear him say that our style of play won't be drawing blood from everyone's eyeballs anymore is pretty awesome. Looking forward to this new brand of Bearcat basketball!!!

I'm tired of typing about it. Ready for our deep run through March

9 years of evidence says otherwise. We'll have to wait and see.

But never before has he said, We won't be one of the top 10 defenses." Obviously, if our shooting goes south, we could be right back to that old style of play.

Speaking for myself here but I am usually more inclined to watch a game with a ranked team than unranked. If they are both ranked I am even more likely to watch. Your name comes up so much more often when you are ranked in media (like espn coverage) and even if you are looking at scores online. Generally the top 25 come up and you can select "all" if you need to see more.

The exposure is night and day really. But as Cronin said you have to earn the respect by continued results to be one of the media darlings. We used to have it and we can get it back pretty quickly because of our history as a program.

There is no doubt all of this is true, but what I'm saying is do you think there is much difference at all right now if this team was ranked 25 vs now on a national level? I think the difference is minimal.

I'm assuming we come out hot and we get ranked within the first few weeks. If thats the case I don't think being unranked right now is an issue at all.

I agree it is a different tone. And it isn't going anywhere. I remember in prior years we'd lose a game, say 57-54, and first thing we'd hear about in post game was the defensive lapses. We can still be a top defensive team, the PPG allowed might just be inflated a tad. But we'll still get after it on D.

How many years in a row has it been he's talked about running an up and down the floor style? All 9? Probably not the first year.

I don't really care what style they play because this team has a chance to be good at whatever style they choose. A faster tempo will of course be much more fun to watch.

But in the end I'll wait until we actually see it. Coach talk is coach talk. Until it happens in a game, you really never know.

I got two free tickets for tonight. Mid court lower bowl. Only stipulation is you got to be bearcat fans. If your interested got to know quickly.

Im thinking if any top 25 team loses in this weeks or next games, UC would have to be close to next in line if they don't lose themselves
