How about Marquette losing big at St. Johns...man have they had a terrible year this year. The new Big East is dismal.

Xavier is very inconsistent this year. They are playing themselves on to the bubble right now.

They have to play at Villanova Monday night.

There's a lot of parody in the Big East after Villanova and Creighton. No other real standout teams though with Xavier struggling. Providence is pretty decent. Probably going to be a 4-bid league this year, although Xavier could easily lose 4 of its last 10 games (@Villanova, Providence, Villanova, Creighton). If they are 21-10 going into the conference tournament, they might be in trouble.

I like the AAC's upper half a lot better than the Big East, but I would still gladly trade our bottom feeders for theirs. The Florida schools and Rutgers are major RPI killers.

And Houston and Temple, for that matter... though at least those schools have some history and we know Temple will rebound quickly.

I wouldn't go that far. All 10 teams are in the RPI top 125. It definitely helps the resume when there are no bad teams in your league. There is a chance they only get 2 teams in the tournament though. Now that would be dismal!

Jeff Goodman tweeted that he is guessing the BE only gets 3 NCAA bids at the moment, and wouldn't be shocked to see just Nova and Creighton make it. Has the BE ever had that few bids?

The Seton Hall loss dropped them 13 spots in the RPI. Xavier is going to have to win at least 2 of these 4 games (Novax2, Creighton, Providence) to be safe on selection Sunday.

Big East 2.0 isnt the Big East 1.0. There's no point in even comparing them.

I think they get payback against Providence and I think they'll play well enough at home to upset either Creighton or Providence. Their ever-fading defense is a concern though (now 81st in AdjD), especially considering Creighton and Nova are both elite offensive teams.

Go SMU! I want 5 teams to make the tournament and SMU to count for at least one top 50 win.

I am rooting for the Ponies as well, winning this game will also put less pressure on them to get the "marquee" win when UC goes down there next week. Also, while Memphis will drop out of the top 25, UConn will slip right back in.

No doubt. I see 5 AAC teams getting in this year.

I am definitely pulling for SMU. It will be huge for the conference's perception to get 5 out of 10 teams in. 50% is a very good rate, and something I don't recall a non "power conference" (current power 5 plus former Big East) ever doing.

Good point about next Saturday's game, although it's still going to be a tough one. I think SMU making the tournament this year, plus all the hype they'll get with Mudiay, will only help the conference make up for the loss of Louisville. I could see them ranked top 15 next preseason.

Wichita State down 13 early at home against under .500 Evansville. How far do you think they would drop it they lost that game?
