Any word on potential trades? Bruce will be gone I assume. What about Phillips? I'd trade Duvall if the offer was good. Same with Straily or Cozart.

Lots of opposing Scouts following the Reds. I'd say it's just a matter of time before Bruce and Cozart are traded. Both are having nice season which works well for their trade value. Trading Phillips will be difficult. His range in the field has diminished and he is hitting for very little power. Couple that with the fact he has veto power over all trades and has turned down 2 already and I'd say the chances of moving him are slim to none. Another factor, he is owned a boat load of money this year and next.

Trading Duval or Strailly makes very little sense. They are exactly what your trying to obtain. Cheap, young, team controllable, near ready major league talent. They will cost very little over the next several years and have both showed some potential. The Reds are dumping salary to obtain young players they can afford who can play. Of course everyone can be traded if offer is good enough but I highly doubt either will be moved.

If the Reds are able to move both Bruce and Cozart for some good prospects it will happen between now and end of July. Both homered this evening. Another note is our 1st round draft choice this year Nich Stenzel left the game tonight at billings with a apparent wrist injury. Our luck is just horrible.

I just don't know how much I really believe in Straily and Duvall. Straily has been bad everywhere else he has been and Duvall is 27 or 28 already and I think was a .230s hitter in the minors. If there was a real prospect offered for either, I'd trade either of them in a heartbeat.

Dont say that to the Cincinnati Sports Nation group on facebook. If anyone follows that group its pretty comical. There are people, mostly just one person, who constantly say things like, the Reds will make the post season. And not as a joke.

Jake again they are prospects who have been effective. Like you I'm not 100% sold but I'm not moving either at this time. They are cheap and Team controlled. Our risk is minimal. Plus our return and or market for either is probably non exsistent.

I don't think either one is considered a prospect. I agree the market for them might be non-existent...but I could see a team possibly paying for a bat like Duvall.

I'd love to trade Billy Hamilton too if someone would take him.

Jake what do you think we could get for them? They are much more valuable to us on our team then anyone we could expect to get back in a trade. Strailly will probably end up a long man in the pen and Duvall a situational platoon player and bat off the bench. If they pan out to be that we win by keeping them if not it is a very cheap price to pay for what they could get in return for what they are paid. Which is league minimum. With our team make up as it is you don't trade these guys at this time. I'd be stunned if either is moved. Now if you have to add one as part of a bigger deal I can understand it but moving them just to move them at this time is not in my mind a good idea.

Yeah just depends on what teams start doing closer to the deadline. I'm not saying move them just to move them, but a contender might want to add some pop to their lineup right now and that's what Duvall can provide.

Btw I'd like to see the Reds maybe take a chance on Oswaldo Arcia. He's been bad this year but he's still only 25 and got released by Minnesota.

They may especially when Bruce is moved. Y-Rod is still out and Winker has a hurt wrist and is on the DL. Schiebler is tearing it up in AAA. I expect to see him back up in the bigs soon.

Jake, Amir Garrett is making his AAA debut tonight. I think he is one of our best pitching prospects. If you remember he played basketball for St.John's.

Waite, I only got to see the play-by-play last night. Why did Reed bat in the 4th and go out for the 5th? He was already at 94 pitches and was clearly laboring. I dont mind the pitch count as a total, but he just wasn't having any clean innings. Obviously the bullpen is what it is, but I'd like to see Price protect the young guys a little more when they clearly don't have it. I feel like that's happened with Finnegan a few times this year too, where he's been out there a few batters too long.

Jake your guess is as good as mine. We had Iggy and Lorenzen in the pen in what was then a close game. Both should be relatively fresh without having pitched many innings yet this season.

Price has me scratching my head many times this season.

1. Batting Hamilton 7th. If Billy gets on base with 1 or two outs in a inning steal 2nd the opposition will walk the 8 hole hitter and get to the pitcher who generally is a out.

2. BP who has shown a decrease in power in the last two years bats 3rd. His trying to steal 3rd in today's game with no one out and Bruce at bat our best run producer this year was something you won't see in many little league games. Who makes the first out of a inning at 3rd base?

3. Votto is our best hitter and should hit 3rd. I understand his is not hitting well now but the back of his baseball card says he will. Paying a guy 25 mil to set the table for BP a double play machine is just more the I can take.

Was at the game today and enjoyed seeing the old timers then the game had to start.

I definitely agree about the batting order. Votto/Bruce/Duvall at 3-4-5 seems obvious to me.

Stealing 3rd with 0 outs??? Why???
