Can the reds be striped of their 2nd pick for the 1st round lottery agreement ?

I was wondering the same thing, from Redszone:

Hate to ask the question, but is there any chance the Reds could lose the #2 pick and/or the big allowance that comes with it when they redo the CBA next month? I'm sure there will be changes that will affect the margins, and maybe they allow international players to be eligible and/or picks to be traded, but I really hope they don't go to a lottery or smooth out the draft pools- at least not for the 2017 draft.

I can't imagine losing #2. Too late for that I imagine. Traded picks/international guys, meh. Draft pool changes would be bad. It again it seems a little late for that, but what do I know.

The Twins could be tempted by high school prospect Hunter Greene, a shortstop/righthander from Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Calif. — the same school that produced Giancarlo Stanton. Greene has power. He hits 97 mph on the gun. There’s never been a prep righthander taken first overall, but Greene could settle in at short or third base.

And Johnson has visited the family.

“He is an impact talent,” John Manuel of Baseball America said of Greene.

That’s the very early skinny on the 2017 draft class, a class that will change as the high school signing period nears. If this happens this could set up the best Dayton outfield of all time. Reds to sign 16-year-old int'l prospect Ruiz

The Reds on Tuesday agreed to purchase the contract of Victor Ruiz, a 16-year-old third baseman and catcher, from the Toros de Tijuana of the Mexican League.

Ruiz hit .298 with a .392 on-base percentage and .440 slugging percentage in the Mexican League's Academia in Monterrey. The Reds scouted the 6-foot-2 and 195-pound Ruiz throughout the summer as he played in the academy league, according to director of international scouting Tony Arias.
"He has hit at every level to this point, has very good hands and a good throwing arm, and brings the sort of leadership and competitive qualities to the table that we look for," Arias said.
Ruiz also played for the Mexican national team at the 18U Pan-American Tournament. The right-handed hitter was listed among the "best of the rest" in MLBPipeline.com's ranking of this year's Top International Prospects.

Before the Nationals traded for Adam Eaton, they made a run at Billy Hamilton but came away thinking the Reds aren't motivated to trade him

So basically he wants to get cut so he can get his money, have his choice of teams, and get paid again?
There is something there. he says there is some issues with management he needs to have worked out before he will except a trade. Apparently it is not dead in the water but there is work to do. This according to jim Bowden

According the reports Brandon feels the Reds brass hasn't lived up to promises they made to him and now "it's just about principle". I'd send him down to class A ball if his contract includes options. This need has two very good young 2B and it's time to give them the job full time. Dat Diva needs to take a step back and think about his future. Because die hard reds fans are tired of seeing him ground into rally killing 6-4-3 double plays.

RE: Straily Trade
Love it Waite. Cost us nothing to get Straily, he defies all the advanced numbers, then we get 3 players for him. I don't even care if these guys turn into anything, it's a smart trade for what the Reds are trying to do.

Couldn't agree more. We got two good arms and a very athletic guy with upside for virtually a guy who I think pitched well above his talent. Especially considering Straily doesn't miss a lot of bats which is dangerous in the launching pad we play in. You point is also a good one in that we obtained him for nothing.

Feels like the Alfredo Simon deal all over again. Picked him up off the scrap heap - he dramatically overachieves and we trade for prospects.

Maybe we'll get him back after he bombs for a couple of years in Miami!

Great trade!

Reds close to signing Desmond Jennings to a minor league deal. A Outfielder and Former first round pick of the Rays. Had some nice production until leg and knee issues hampered him the last two years. If he can still play CF I like the signing. good bench piece with speed, can play all outfield spots and was a very good fielding CF"er.

Team also close to signing Bronson Arroyo to a minor league deal.

Gosh I love this time of year. College hoops and Spring Training.

I do a HR Challenge every year where you get last year's HR totals to build a 7 man team for 165 HR. If a guy played under 140 games, you add 0.1 per missed game up to 140.

ANYWAY, Schebler is priced at 14.8 this year. I can't decide if he should be one of my 7 or not. You also get 3 bench spots for 50 HR in case of injury, so I may just use him as a sub. But I really think 20+ HR for him this year is easily doable.

Waite, anyone else...Thoughts on Schebler this year?

Jake my concern would be if he is going to see regular playing time. My opinion is him and Duval are better suited as bench pieces or a platoon. With Jesse Winker knocking on the door and Hamilton in CF I really think a platoon situation is quite possible. If he was going to be out there all year I would say he is a lock for 20 dingers.
