Yeah, I'm not sure schebler is an everyday outfielder. If Jennings comes in ready to play, he has the edge imo. Just not sure what Jennings has left

I was under the impression that Jennings was a coin-flip to even make the team. Could be way off on that.

For Winker, I don't see how he'd be ready to push Duvall and Schebler into a platoon. And it's not like Duvall is a lefty masher only...his OPS was the exact same against both.

I guess we'll see how it works out but I was under the assumption that Schebler would be the best OF on the team in 2017. I'm a little surprised you guys don't see it that way.

Jake not really sold on Duval. He really fell off the second half of the year and his walk rate and K rate arei not good. Really don't think his production will carry over. I hope I'm wrong.

Schebler improved after his recall for sure but I really need to see more. His strike out rate is still high but he did improve.

Winker is a guy who really puts the ball in play and has a very high OBP. If his power comes around which some think faded because of a wrist injury he will be a very good corner outfielder. He won't start the year in Cincy because they want the extra year of control but if he hits early in Louisville he will be up at some point. His best position is LF.

I'm with you on Duvall. Would've been nice to trade him last year but I think that's easier said than done. Hopefully Winker's power comes along in a big way. He can't expect to slug under .400 and secure a job.

In the HR Challenge I'm in, you just have to find sleepers. That's what made me think of Schebler. Last year I was the only one who had Marcell Ozuna and I won bc his price was like 11 and he more than doubled it. Everyone will have the guys like Harper and Goldschmidt who underachieved last year. Any other sleepers you can think of?

i think Suarez will hit 20

If the reds were smart they'd try to see if mesoraco could transition to LF.

I think Duvall and Hamilton will play most games. I guess schebler would figure to play every day if he can. Winker won't be a starter. I have no idea on jennings, but he's still young enough and not too far removed from being an everyday outfielder. If he makes the squad (this squad at least) I doubt it will be to backup rookies. Could be way off. I'd say he will be given every opportunity to win a starting of spot. If he does, and remember none if our of are exactly great, I think schebler is the odd man out.

His price is 21 though. Not great value, especially with Senzel looming.

tried him in Louisville a bit last year. His best value is as a catcher. They will give him a shot there before trying him elsewhere. If he can't do it then they may try to move but not before trying him there.

with how bad the reds are projected to be I would be stunned if they burn a year of team control on Senzel this year.

No even in September? Or after the Super 2 deadline? I'm not totally sure how that works for him...but he will be 22 during this season and I'd expect they'd want him to be ready to be an everyday player the majors in 2018. The bottoming out part of the rebuild is over and there's no doubt that he's going to be better than Suarez.

You think Alcantara has a shot to make the team?

I'm really surprised you think Schebler is maybe the odd man out. He and Hamilton seem like no brainier everyday players to me out of our OF. Schebler isn't just some scrub, and at 26, why not see what he can do for a full season? Worked out for Duvall last year, and it's not like we'll be contending for the playoffs. He should be coming into his power prime, and OPS-wise he has the most to offer by a lot I think.

I like him better then Bruce.

single A to the majors is a pretty big jump. I think next year is when you'll see him if all goes well. It's also complicated at the major league level. Suarez is the back up plan at SS and 2B If Herrera or Peraza don't pan out. Right now they don't have anywhere to play them with Cozart and BP still on the roster. If they could start the year with them two playing and it was going well they may try to move Suarez at the deadline. But as it stands now that isn't happening. Letting Suarez play and build value is the best thing they can do.

Not suggesting he jump from A ball to the majors...Won't he start the year in AA? Not that big of a jump for a college top draft pick to make by September. Bregman did the exact thing last year and even jumped around between LF and SS some.

I don't think the infield situation is that complicated. Cozart and Phillips have no long term value and Suarez isn't that good.

I think you may be selling Suarez a bit short. He can play SS,2B and 3rd. He has some pop. I also think he'll take another step forward with the bat. Once he settled in at 3rd last year he really did well fielding the position. I think Senzel will be the better player in the long run but Suarez could be better then both Peraza and Herrera.

Jake also the thing that complicates the Cozart and BP situation is that between them they will be paid around 20 mil next year. Are you going to sit 20 mil of your pay roll to hold try outs. That is the complication. Not moving Cozart at the deadline to the Mariners last year was inexcusable. I'll give them a bit of a pass on BP because they were trying to win when they extended him. With Cozart knee and BP's contract and his skills declining plus the no trade clause he won't waive they are near impossible to move. Maybe at the deadline they will have some value to a team but not if your not playing them. The reds have all kinds of unanswered questions they need to resolve. Until they are able to see Peraza and Herrera in the bigs and playing regularly the answers are on hold. They have got themselves backed into a nice little corner. Look at what they are paying Cozart,Bailey, BP and Mesoraco. The guy they are paying 25 mil to be the face of the franchise has the personality of a chair. Great player but a marketing nightmare. To get on with the rebuild they need to have a bunch of questions answered and it should have started last year.
