That was a real tough loss tonight. Coco is killing his self by walking batters. I also think it's time to sit Stubbs and maybe Bruce. I can see running Bruce out there because of his glove, but not stubbs.

I would like to see an outfield of Gomes, Heisey, and Nix. 111 strikeouts and a 230 BA is not going to get it done in a race this close.

I agree about Stubbs and Bruce. Bruce you can't take out because of his glove, but Stubbs could be platooned with Heisey at least every few days. Nix can't play regularly. I think he's suited to be a pinch hitter and at best a spot starter.

After last night job, I would give Heisey the nod as the starter. Stubbs just isn't ready. Maybe he will be in a few yew years, but I think it's time to give Chris his try.

How about Votto? Chasing the first triple crown in the the NL since 1934. I think he will come up at shortbut it's sure fun to watch.

Big game in a few hrs. Go Reds!

I don't disagree about giving Heisey a chance to play everyday but the thing you have to realize is there are plenty of players that do good in short stints, but can never play everyday. Ryan Freel was the perfect example of that. My guess is Baker thinks Heisey might be too. Plus he's been so clutch as a ph, you hate to take him out of that role. With that said, play Heisey for a week and see what happens. If he wears down then go back to Stubbs or bring Dickerson up. Stubbs is not earning his spot in the line-up right now and honestly he doesn't really bring a good glove to the table either.

Great weekend for the Reds. Soldout series that they won over a first place team -- arguably the best in the NL.

Anyone catch Cordero's comments after the game. When asked about being tired with pitching everyday if he thought of saying he wasn't available. He said something to the effect of "I make too much money to not take the ball when asked."

I had not heard Coco's comments. That is refreshing to hear that from a pro athlete.

Redlegs are 11-6 since the break. The shock of 2010 keeps rolling on. Heinsey is showing why he should be the everyday CF on the team.

Two more hits tonight including an inside the park home run.

One thing about Coco is he never makes excuses. He either got the job done or he didn't. You have to love the attitude of this entire team. They are a breath of fresh air in today's pro sports world.

Reds about to get it going with the Cubs today... looking to take yet another series victory... they really could use a strong Edinson Volquez down the stretch, hopefully he pitches well today...

Nice to get the sweep. 2 game lead going into our series with St. Louis. We need take two of three. Unfortunately, tomorrow nights matchup will be rough. Carpenter, who owns us, vs. the struggling Leake. No excuses, get on base and move the runners and hope your pitching comes through. Lets go Reds!

I tell you what September will be fun with Bearcat football, the Reds in the playoff hunt and the Bengals starting up.

1. I hate the Cubs. Great to see a sweep.

2. Edmonds acquired for Chris Dickerson. Nice trade. Edmonds hitting .286 with 6 HRs in 73 games this season. Edmonds gets 2/3 of the starts in CF from here on out, right?

Brutal.

HOWEVER.......Brandon Philips is the truth! I hate me some 'Cards too!!!!

Also, Scott Rolen is the most crusty player in the league and I WOULD NOT want Rolen fighting me in a brawl (thanks for coming Carpenter).

I love what Phillips said and agree... and I honestly think most of the media and league agrees too... LaRussa, Duncan (and Carpenter) and Co. complain and bitch and moan more than any team I can think of in the National League... HOWEVER, if he's going to come out and say that, he's got to have a better series than he did... I think he had a grand total of two hits...

Yeah, and one of them was to Molina's jaw.

Sweep of the Marlins always helps the cause...

Reds jump Cards for 1st place.

Our pitching is very, very deep. Cannot wait to get Chapman up here....if there is room.

I don't see any way they can keep him down in AAA if he continues to throw strikes... you can't keep a lefty that throws strikes at 100+ consistently on the bench (or in the minors)... he's going to be extremely valuable down the stretch, imo...
