BLowing a huge lead

Jordan Smith lost his focus and left some balls up with two strike counts on a couple hitters... we have to remember, even with their injuries right now, the Mets are a hot team who play damn good (28-12) at home...

Votto with his second home run of the night, the Reds lead 8-6.

Good win... Votto just misses his third home run of the night... Reds just need to take one of the next two now for another series victory...

Reds ripping the Mets right now behind a 6 run 5th inning... this team is for real!

Winning is contagious, just like losing has been. Castellini/Jocketty/Baker should all be commended for getting rid of the bad/lazy karma we've dealt with in the past. This team is young and wants to win and honestly doesn't know any better. The addition of Rolen and Cabrera to this group of youngsters was the exact right mix of leadership. I knew as soon as they got Rolen it would turn out to pay huge dividends. I heard a player (might have been Phillips, who wanted to be the captain of this team last year) say how much having those guys come in who have a history of winning has meant to the team.

Reds not so good last nite.

On the other hand, the Reds GM just announced that Cincy would get a title before Cleveland does.

UGHHH!!!

That's a rough one last night. I for one wouldn't have brought Leake back out there in the ninth with a six run lead when you're trying to nurse his innings for the end of the year. I understand you want to get him his first complete games, but think bigger picture. With that said anybody that wants to pin this on Baker (which I heard a lot of this morning) is just wrong. Dusty didn't go out and give up six runs. He asked guys to go out and get outs and they didn't do it.

SWG -- you need to figure out how to shake this jinx you put on them.

That was brutal.

Makes me wonder if Jock will extend Dusty's contract given all the 'mishaps' the Reds have gone through under his command. I wouldn't take it as a given regardless of the team being in first place.

Dusty has this group of guys playing well. They got rid of the egos and are playing unselfish. That's a managers #1 job. Deciding which reliever to bring in when none have been reliable isn't fair to hang on a manager. There's always second guessing when things don't work out, but I hate how it's always Dusty's fault when a reliever goes out and blows a game or a hitter fails to advance a runner. This is baseball -- a game where you fail more than you are successful. It's a game where you can lose 70 games and still make the playoffs. Dusty is doing a great job in my opinion. Yeah he makes decisions that don't work out. There's no telling any other option would work out either.

I'm not sold on Dusty..let that be known. Too many bad decisions in the past 3 years. If he makes the playoffs, all is good. Same thing goes for MC. Their future, is in their hands. I'm rooting for both of 'em.

Arroyo did well before the 7th. Dusty leaves his pitchers in too long.

I was at the game tonight. 4-0 on the year now!!

Bronson was pitching lights out until the eighth. He gave up two hits in 87 pitches through seven. He got into trouble and Dusty had guys warming up and took him out. Dusty can't be a mind-reader and know the exact moment a pitcher will lose it. Bringing in a guy from the bullpen is a big question mark as to if the guy is going to have his stuff or not. Bronson had his stuff going into the eighth. Dusty handled the situation as well as to be expected. Give the man a little credit -- we won tonight!!

By the way Rhodes was spectacular after giving up that walk to get out of that bases-loaded no out jam. That crowd was electric. Almost reminded me of Nippert.

If Joey Votto isn't your NL MVP through 4 months of the season, and I'm speaking to national media, you're simply not being honest with yourself... guy's unreal.
