Jacob not starting Cobb is not what is wrong with this team.
Lol. Around and around we go...

Long haul you may disagree with my thought but That doesn't make it wrong or stupid. Your analogy of clark.ellis and DeBerry is not apples and apples.No. No one on earth thinks it except you. Cobb averages one foul a game. Did you read that? One foul a game. So you are telling me they don't start him because they think someone that averages one foul a game might get into foul trouble?
But of course why not start DeBerry in case Clark and Ellis get in to foul trouble. Especially since they are more likely to. Why? Because it's a stupid idea.

Jason just so you understand I have know issue disagreeing with the coaching staff on some things. In this particular issue I would do exactly the same thing.Lol. Around and around we go...
I didn't say that because it isn't apples and apples.Starting DeBerry over Clark or Ellis would be a stupid idea. You didn't say that though. We all know that Cobb doesn't not start because of foul trouble.

Guys do you think the reason it hasn't happened is because they do manage around the possibility. Again no coach in ameririca lets his players pick up 3 fouls in first half. Nor do they put them in position to do so. Is it that hard for you to understand the Coach has weighed his options and decided that He can still get Cobb major minutes and safe guard the PG position by subbing him rather then start him? He also may think that what he would get as opposed to what he risked is not a good option. That is why you don't see it happening. Using a stat to support your position that a coach will not allow to happen in first place is not a good
IF that happened ,you have all the t.v. timeouts and you could also call a t.o. at strategic times to give the pg a rest.
Doogle we are 2/3's through the season what we are now is probably what we are going to be this year. also going by what Chad has said that they do work on offense. When you play a grind it out slow it down limit possessions you get low scoring games. I also think our D-1 inexperience for our team also shows itself often. I have always been of the opinion that if we made the dance this year and our youngsters grew it would be a successful year. Still of that mind.I think it's easy to say "well, they can't score so they have to win by playing defense, rebounding and hitting free throws". Isn't that EVERY team? Plus, why do we just accept that they can't score as if it's not something that's correctable? Caupain has a nice looking stroke and can get to the rim. Cobb is effective at hitting that little mid-range jumper at the elbow. Ellis has a nice looking game from 8 feet in. DeBerry has a decent hook shot. Sanders is an excellent cutter. Clark is effective down low when he chooses and he and Ellis both have shown some skill at passing from the high post. Find ways to utilize the skill sets of these players on the offensive end.
At the risk of becoming a "numbers junkie" I'd like to boil it down to a few simple numbers:
Shooting % FT % Rebounds Turnovers
KJ .349 .677 32 37
FC .381 .813 61 27
Why are these guys playing even close to equal minutes? If instead of 50/50, the split is more like 75/25, I think it's a better team and we aren't NIT fodder.
Cobb rebounding ball is huge. Tells me he wants to get it and run. Something a team that struggles to score 20 in 20min is mind boggling we don't run all timeAt the risk of becoming a "numbers junkie" I'd like to boil it down to a few simple numbers:

Just put the best players out there and let them play basketball. It isn't rocket science. There is no reason why we should have to grind out a game in the 40s against bottom feeders with the caliber athletes we have. The coaches need to loosen their grip and let these kids play. Guys like KJ and Sanders have to be in the absolute perfect position to make a positive play. Stop thinking so much and go play. Our guys have been playing their whole lives, but they're so mind f%$#+ed BC we have to try to be so perfect in executing half court sets. That style doesn't sync up with our personnel. Remember when we scored like 96 in the Bahamas? I know that was against a crap team, but I'm convinced we're at the point that we couldn't even score that much against no defense. Just play the game. No one has to compute a physics equation to get a shot off. Our kids have been coached out of their natural basketball ability. We have such weird rules that we always have to think. If you get a rebound, dribble the ball up the floor, throw an open outlet pass, something. We just get a rebound and stand there for 3 seconds until everything clears out BC we HAVE to get it to the PG. These guys aren't built to execute a low possession game like Wisconsin. I've been the first one to be hard on guys like Shaq, but we absolutely do not put guys like him in a position to succeed. Remember in the old Big East where it was "score 70 and we win"? Slowly we have slipped to " just score 60" and now we have lost 3 games while allowing 50 or less in regulation. Someone said it the other day...that Missouri NCAA game a few years back is the perfect style for Cincinnati basketball. And we have the type of players to still play that way, but it has become so ingrained that every game is a "rock fight" that we play to that mentality and it is frustrating as hell. I've heard people say "well we play a slow pace"...but is that really a good idea when you have guys like Shaq, Morman, Ellis, Clark, etc? No, it isn't IMO. Just go out there and play the game. The slow possession by possession stuff is what teams with no players do. We have players, but we aren't using them correctly. We are so scared of what might happen if we open things up that we go the safe route and let the KJ and Sanders types get 27+ minutes regardless of what kind of production they're actually giving the team. Drives me nuts. Pick up the pace and just play the freaking game. Rant over.
Doesn't help when TC be literally scared to push ball up court. if he doesn't want to play pg I don't need him on my team. The coaches want Troy more agressive and he needs to be. I want him and Ellis taking 12-15 shots a game and agressive toward the basket. I want Clark taking 8-10 and Cobb taking 8-12.
