I think you answered your own question. We are going to be forced to have Shaq as the back up 4 to Clark. Deberry is the back up 5 to Ellis. Morman is the back up 3 to Sanders.

Our depth is a serious issue right now.

It is amazing how much easier everything is when Sanders is knocking down his shots.

I would honestly rather have Sanders back up or even start at the 4. At least Sanders will box out. Shaq will give you absolutely nothing down low because he can't rebound.

Yeah predicting minutes isn't really possible game by game, but I was just trying to lay out in general how much I'd like to see the guys on the floor. It seems like we never get enough DeBerry in the 2nd half. I can also see the Cobb off the bench thing (considering I felt that way until yesterday), but to me it had more to do with KJ. Would you be open to having Morman start and eat into some of KJ's PT?

DeBerry should start

I like all our players but we don't have that player like Jackson/Levitt/VanExel that bring a certain intensity as soon as they step on the court. I think Mormon does that and needs to be on the floor to infect some our more passive players.

I posted this in another thread but I'd go with TC, Morman, Sanders, Clark and Deberry. Cobb, KJ, Shaq and Ellis would come off the bench. I'd try and save fouls for Ellis and as the game goes on give minutes at guard to whoever is playing the best. We will need to be agressive toward the basket and Morman gives you this. Sanders needs to hit some threes in this game and he is overdue.

I agree and think this is our toughest lineup. I love the tenacity Morman brings when he's in the game. We need that edge Wednesday

Clark don't rebound or play better d than Ellis. Bring Clark off bench

Clark is arguably our smartest and most efficient player. He needs to play 30 mpg in my opinion. He grabs every rebound and is one of the better passers on the team. He has struggled lately, but is still very young. Ellis travels, loses the ball and goal tends more than any player I have ever watched. I think Ellis is good, but needs to take better care of the ball

Clark is third in the conference in total rebounding %, second in offensive rebounding %, first in defensive rating, and fourth in defensive win shares. Ellis is top five in each of those categories as well, including leading in defensive win shares. They are two of the top rebounders and defenders in the league.

Yeah Clark is good rebounder. If you noticed his only effective with Ellis out there. Ellis is stronger and plays better against the big boys. Both are great rebounder right now I just trust Ellis.

Im really not into the number game. I'll take Ellis over Clark right now. Ellis effects game more than any other player on team. You don't bring your team mvp off bench

Are you guys talking about bringing Ellis off the bench just for the Xavier game or from now on? Either way, I think Ellis is the most automatic guy to start. I'd vote...
TC
Cobb/Morman (not KJ)
Sanders
Ellis
DeBerry

I think we need Caupain playing off the ball. Not sure Cobb is effective enough as a distributor for this to happen. Unfortunately I think our future success as a great team relies on the potential of a couple players who are not here yet. Jennifer and Evans. Next year they will be here but frosh so not sure just how great we can be. The following year we potentially could have them as sophs with Clark as a junior and Caupain a Sr. We need to have 1 or 2 effective BIGS from Juco, HS, or transfer to replace Ellis and DeBerry when they leave. Ideally at least one of them would have 1 year experience in a Bearcat uniform during Capain's SR year.

Caupain's SR year is the extent of my personal leash for Cronin to give us a deep run in March. I hope a couple other players like KJ, Morman and Scott develop as well to give us solid depth and maybe we can bring in 1 or 2 potential highly rated studs to put us over the top.

I was expecting inconsistency this year and playing without our head coach is not helping matters. Next year I expect to be a top 25 team and the following year I expect to be top 10. If Cronin can't put something special together by then I will have seen enough.

Granted X is not good at defense, but for a team that scored a whopping 13 points in the first half against a crappy team, starting two of UC's best scorers, not to mention their best player, on the bench is a recipe for disaster.

Cobb has started, what, one game? And in that game he came out on fire. Yet he continues to start on the bench in favor of someone who gives next to nothing on the court.

I didn't say bring Ellis off the bench. It really shouldn't be an either/or with the two of them. I like DeBerry, but can't put him over Clark in the starting lineup/rotation. Besides the fact that Clark still produces more overall, despite his recent struggles, the loss of Strickland kind of makes it hard to start both Ellis and DeBerry rotation-wise, given that DeBerry probably can't go (at least effectively) a full half without a break, if for instance Ellis picks up a couple of early fouls. I wouldn't exactly be thrilled at playing Clark (or Moore, if/when he comes back) at the 5, even for limited minutes in that scenario.
