Cincinnati scored 1.08 PPP tonight and had an eFG of 50.9%. I wonder if we'll see twenty pages of praise for the offense tonight against an elite defense team. Interesting that some posters only come out of the woodwork after losses.

Hell no! The Nebraska thread was a joke. Not even Arizona with all of their All-Americans and future NBA players had as good of an offensive game against this elite defense. This team is more than capable of playing offense at a high enough level to beat good teams. Consistency is the biggest issue.

The 2 games after losses have been our best. Again, gotta love the effort. These kids play pretty damn hard. DeBerry was huge in the 1st half. I like sticking our wings closer to the corners when we're trying to free up room for Clark to come get it at the high post. He obviously will get better at making himself available for the pass, but he is at a high level for a freshman. Really happy that these kids were more composed coming off of a loss than I was. They must have a good coach 😀

After tonight, I believe that Cobb and Caupain should be starting together. KJ can't stay on the floor long enough to be effective due to being foul prone and extremely careless with the ball. Cobb is the closest thing to a SG that UC has.

SDSU learned, in the second half every time Clark got the ball he was immediately double teamed. A few times he was triple teamed. He is a handful and a matchup nightmare 1 on 1. Loved Deberry driving the lane, nobody will ever take a charge against him when he drives to the rim like he did tonight

Consistency is the difference between good and great.

I don't really trust Cobbs shot yet. He has been inconsistent with his shooting all year granted we have only played 9 games, trust me I know it's early in the year but I want to see him take more shots with confidence. Getting a layup and a few jumpers seemed to get him going but the jury's still out. Caupain is going to be a star at UC. I'm beginning to see his confidence grow as a leader. Ellis is coming into his own. Shaq, we still don't know about, he shows "flashes". Clark, the kid plays hard and he can shoot. Plays super smart. Overall, great win, let's continue that toughness UC ball on Saturday. I'll be there.

SDSU always doubles guys on the post. It didn't have anything to do with Clark personally.

I know Lawrence and Clark are different recruiting classes, but how in the heck could Lawrence ever be ranked higher than Clark. What was Lawrence top 25?? And Clark might have finished in the top 80 at best?? It's just always surprising how players develop and turn out. But anyways, awesome win tonight! Go cats!

Cobb is the only player that I don't cringe when shooting a 3. He is clearly our 2nd best guard.

I had a feeling about this one!! In all the offensive woes let's not miss what is happening here. This young team is finding it's mental toughness and will to play thru adversity and win. I saw it against Nebraska, though they didn't finish, and I saw it last night when they did finish it. My friends that was a very good win last night.

UC was down 41-36 with 9:28 left in regulation and then made I believe 5 consecutive shots and took the lead. With less than a minute left they were up 5. The 2 threes and the horrible foul call (imo) when Shepard slipped and tied the game could have broke a young teams will but UC played thru it and won.

The Bearcats shot 47% against a pretty good defensive team. 36% from three and 81% from the foul line. I thought this quote from TC was interesting, "Yeah Coach had a big time coaching game, they were icing outside picks and the top picks and denying all handouts and it was hard to figure things out. Then he drew something up on the board and we executed well and that kind of got us going and when we executed the new play and it gave us something new to look at instead of the plays that they scouted." The announcer (Dakish-sp?) said after the game Mick Cronin had a big time game coaching.

The personality of the team is starting to come together. Still wish someone would step up at the 2 consistently, but the team is coming together.

Nice post. Honestly I didn't think we had much of a chance going in but I sure love to be wrong. We showed some serious toughness out there. The best part it, it tells us that we are improving. That's all you can ask for. Watching that game live, its amazing how quick both teams were. Big shots by Cobb. It always helps when some shots actually go in lol. I thought Gary Clark had a huuuge play coming out of a timeout with the shot clock low. Loved how he finished around the rim.
I also got to see/talk to Eric Hicks after the game. Nice guy.

Bearcat Jeff, that wasn't just a horrible call in your opinion. There is no opinion, only fact. The guys left ankle gave out on him and he fell. Just an awful, awful call.

Some of you are so incredibly biased. The fact is the KJ clipped him causing him to trip.

While I'm ecstatic that they won, I find it tough to believe that anyone thinks they were good offensively last night. I'd be curious what the number was prior to OT because they were very efficient in OT. In regulation it was a constant struggle to even get a decent look. They forced 18 turnovers so they should have had a number of easy baskets which makes the PPP look better.

Coach Cronin was big tonight. Pushed a lot of right buttons. We debate on here continually how his teams can't play offense or he spends to much time playing defense. This team is conditioned to play hard every trip down the floor. That work ethic comes from the coach. These kids buy into his system and that is why he wins. I can't say how important that is and is often over looked by fans. Kids come here knowing they are going to work their tails off. They re going to earn playing time by buying in to his system. As his staure grows Nationally, kids who truly want to work hard and be challenged will want to come here.

We truly have a quality Coach who will only get better. Enjoy his approach and like watching his teams. We need to embrace our identity as a hard working blue collar team that won't be out worked for a win. Instead of complaining about what we are not let's emphasize what we are. That's how Huggs built his brand and Mick is trying to do the same thing. Bob's teams were tough and would guard. Eventually he got better players who came here for that reason.

This program Is not for the weak. That is the message we should be sending out not if you want to play defense at practice all the time Cincinnati is not for you. If recruits and other fans read our sites that is what we should be putting out there. Only mentally and physically tough kids need to consider our program. UC is a place for players who want to be challenged. Good Coaches know on any givin night your shot might not be falling but being mentally prepared to overcome those off nights by playing tough in your face defense never takes a night off. Folks that Is what Coach brings to the table. Two very good Coaches have said just that, Fisher and Brown. I don't want to change our identity.
