I don't really trust Cobbs shot yet. He has been inconsistent with his shooting all year granted we have only played 9 games, trust me I know it's early in the year but I want to see him take more shots with confidence. Getting a layup and a few jumpers seemed to get him going but the jury's still out. Caupain is going to be a star at UC. I'm beginning to see his confidence grow as a leader. Ellis is coming into his own. Shaq, we still don't know about, he shows "flashes". Clark, the kid plays hard and he can shoot. Plays super smart. Overall, great win, let's continue that toughness UC ball on Saturday. I'll be there.

Who's shot has been consistent?

Coach Cronin was big tonight. Pushed a lot of right buttons. We debate on here continually how his teams can't play offense or he spends to much time playing defense. This team is conditioned to play hard every trip down the floor. That work ethic comes from the coach. These kids buy into his system and that is why he wins. I can't say how important that is and is often over looked by fans. Kids come here knowing they are going to work their tails off. They re going to earn playing time by buying in to his system. As his staure grows Nationally, kids who truly want to work hard and be challenged will want to come here.

We truly have a quality Coach who will only get better. Enjoy his approach and like watching his teams. We need to embrace our identity as a hard working blue collar team that won't be out worked for a win. Instead of complaining about what we are not let's emphasize what we are. That's how Huggs built his brand and Mick is trying to do the same thing. Bob's teams were tough and would guard. Eventually he got better players who came here for that reason.

This program Is not for the weak. That is the message we should be sending out not if you want to play defense at practice all the time Cincinnati is not for you. If recruits and other fans read our sites that is what we should be putting out there. Only mentally and physically tough kids need to consider our program. UC is a place for players who want to be challenged. Good Coaches know on any givin night your shot might not be falling but being mentally prepared to overcome those off nights by playing tough in your face defense never takes a night off. Folks that Is what Coach brings to the table. Two very good Coaches have said just that, Fisher and Brown. I don't want to change our identity.

Like Shaq Thomas?

And not to mention most 17-18 year olds are physically and mentally tough yet.
that is why they would come here. Our coach demands that. They play with the edge he Coaches with. With the way the world is evolving being physically and mentally tough will serve you more then just on the basketball floor. Huggs still recruits those kind of kids. Shaq is a perfect example that talent isn't enough.

While I'm ecstatic that they won, I find it tough to believe that anyone thinks they were good offensively last night. I'd be curious what the number was prior to OT because they were very efficient in OT. In regulation it was a constant struggle to even get a decent look. They forced 18 turnovers so they should have had a number of easy baskets which makes the PPP look better.

The 2nd half was much better. They shot 13-22 (59.1 %). Seeing that stat after the game surprised me. It didn't seem like they shot that well watching it.

Lol!!! Waite, I could certainly write a very long rebuttal to this, but I've decided to call a truce and just say....outstanding post!! :) You should be Mick's agent! Even I can't bring myself to tear down the positivity of this one.

I told you yesterday that I hope you are the one proven right and that I hope last night was the start of something good. I also told you that 2 of our last four offensive performances were actually pretty good and we were due for another one. I would go nowhere near calling that a good offensive performance, but it was certainly very good offensive results. It's amazing how good the offense looks when shots go in. That hopefully is the start of something good and bravo to Mick for delivering the win.

I literally have no voice today. I sat in front of 3 college age San Diego St. fans who were as obnoxious as any I've ever encountered. I heard at least 30 "This is the worst offense I've ever seen" comments from them, jumping up and down screaming and laughing and in-your-facing after every dunk and three point shot they threw down on us, etc. When we turned the tide, I gave it back to them in spades. I did crap that I haven't done in 20 years, and my voice box has disintigrated. I just got out of about 6 meetings and literally embarrassed myself because I couldn't get a word out. I've been over-dosing on lemon drops all morning. But, I had a freaking blast last night. Haven't enjoyed a game that much in a while. Especially loved hooting and waving to those SDSU jerks as they filed out with about a minute and a half left in the game. I was waiting all game for the round-house left hook to rip thru my skull, but it never came from them.

Look guys I don't want to turn this into another debte about our coach. Team played well. They did all the little things that you need to do to beat a Good team. They did it after coming off a Very disappointing outing against the Huskers. Congrats to the Coach who prepared them and the team for the heart to execute the plan. Lots of Stars in this one. They played Bearcat Basketball.

patrick not every kid is going to flourish.

I understand that but that is not what you said. UC needs to find a balance of mental toughness and bball skills/IQ. Sure Kelvin Gaines was physically tough, but he had minimal skills. SK would probably be the example you are striving for.

Nothing about Shaq says mentally and physically tough and never has. Obviously, Strickland and Lawrence were in that same boat as well.

LOL. Wish I was there with you. Between the two of us we could have beaten them down.lol. I've decided we got to start selling the positives of our program.

I see what your saying. Not every player is going to buy in to the system. JL,during his recruitment Said the reason he came here was to beef up and play hard. As I said I would like to have better players who have those characters, in time I think it will happen but in the mean time I enjoy watching the SK's and others get there. We are forming a identity of being physical hard charging competitors who guard you from the dressing room and will do anything to win. I love the kind of a approach. Doesn't men I don't want to make a few more shots. To Shaq's credit he hasn't quit. That tells me something about his mentality.

I'm glad we won. But, let's not get carried away. SDSU scored 36 points against Washington and is coming off a one-point, comeback home victory against a 5-6 Long Beach State team.

With that said, I liked the offensive lineup in the second-half, featuring Cobb at the point, Troy off the ball, and Sanders on the wing. It's the most efficient offensive lineup, and Coach went with this lineup down the critical stretch. Troy focuses more on scoring when he is off the ball. Cobb and Sanders space the floor with shooting.

Yes, KJ fouled the guy. Solid win. Let's get VCU, we need it...

TC was a lot more aggressive going to the hoop last night.

Cincinnati scored 1.08 PPP tonight and had an eFG of 50.9%. I wonder if we'll see twenty pages of praise for the offense tonight against an elite defense team. Interesting that some posters only come out of the woodwork after losses.

Well, you're already up to 24 pages and you're barely 9 hours since the end of the game, so I'd say the answer to your question is yes.

Just so everyone understands, I am going to bold the following explanation to make it clear to you all.

L-T does not engage in stupid play-by-play banter on social media during home games (win or lose) because he is attending every ballgame supporting the team and actually watching the game instead of typing on a keyboard or texting on his phone. That's why he actually sees what kind of offense led up to a shot going in rather than looking at stupid PPP stats and extrapolating that it must mean that the offense is really a thing of beauty. Also, on 9:00 games where L-T gets home at 12:30 AM and has to be back up again at 5:30 AM to utilize the outstanding education he received from his beloved University of Cincinnati, he may choose to get to bed rather than comment on the game at that moment.

I appreciate everyone wondering where I am at times and I hope this will clear up any confusion. Go cats!!! The trend line is moving back up!

Waite, nobody on here sells the positives of the program better than you. So, in that respect, you don't need to "start" selling those positives. In your case, you only need to "continue" to sell the positives.

Yeah the atmosphere last night towards the end of the game and in OT was outstanding! Sadly there are those type of fans behind every team. I was spit on and had AAA batteries thrown at me when I was just 15 when I traveled to Cleveland for a Bengals victory. You would have had 9,000 people backing you up last night. We'll all have to watch our tempers when X comes to play. No more of this US Bank arena BS, we're finally at home.

Those 4,000 empty seats were eerily quiet though. If we can get them making some noise, we'll have something. If we don't get near capacity on Saturday, I'm going to be very disappointed. Would love to see the team rewarded for last night's performance with a huge crowd. This will potentially be a crazy game of pressing and running and dunking and we need the players to feed off of the energy of a raucous crowd.
