This is not true. Twyman was not POY. That is not the criteria.

So we have two NPOY's and "someone else"? I would like to know why Twyman is in and Logan and Fortson are out. If you project Fortsons numbers over 4 years...SK doesn't even come close. Neither does Logan or anyone else.

Danny Fortson is clearly the 2nd best player to ever play in a Bearcat uniform when compared to Oscar or anyone. Take his 3 year numbers and forecast for a better senior year...he CRUSHES the next best Bearcat not names the BIg O.

It's not even close. Not only that he would have possibly...maybe even likely been NOPY.

There is NO other Bearcat in the last 25 (maybe 100) years who dominated 3 years like Fortson did (other than Oscar)...and if Fortson hadn't left one year early...he would not be REMOTELY catchable for 2nd all time points. He would likely have been NPOY as well. Likely 2nd in rebounds as well.

Twyman was the first player after Wilt to average 30+ a game in the NBA...not that it really matters, but he was clearly a BEAST

Fortson was a stud, no doubt. But you can't project a players numbers. Fact is, he only played 3 years. At least that was his choice. The Big O, Twymann (I believe) and others only played 3 years as well. What if Wingfield would have played four years? Doesn't work that way. That being said, I think Fortson is definitely one of the best ever to play at UC. Not sure about #2.

Ugh I can't believe you brought up Wingfield! As for painful memories Kenyon getting hurt is number one, Wingfield leaving his freshman year right is 2nd and then Devan leaving for SC is third. In my own personal world I thought Donald Little was going to be the man and then he went off and did something stupid at 4th followed by Kirkland getting hurt at 5.

Lance leaving early is 6th only because it was kind of expected. At first I thought that was a huge mistake but it looks like it has actually worked out for him. I thought it was going to be another Demarr Johnson but I have to remember he was in a car accident right? So who knows how that might have turned out.

I'm sure I am forgetting some but those were tough player moments for me. This is not to be confused with heartbreaking game losses. Actually you could add the Huggs fiasco as well even though he was not a player. While I didn't like the image he presented I did like the winning. Plus I thought he had a monster recruiting class coming in that following year. That all seems to have worked itself out nicely.

The POY award didn't exist when Twyman was playing. He was probably the first star player for the Bearcats (averaged 25 points and 17 rebounds his senior year).

The requirement to get your jersey retired is still National POY. Otherwise, at the very least, Danny Fortson and Steve Logan would have their numbers retired. You could argue that Van Exel's should be retired too.

While Van Excel was one of my all time favorites, I think it'd be hard to argue for him to have his jersey retired. He only played two years, and his best honor was third team all-american. I just don't see how he would be ahead of so many other Bearcat greats that also don't have their jersey's retired.

Nick Van Exel is my all time favorite Bearcat, but he should not have his # retired. You could argue SK, Logan, and Fortson for sure. I would have zero problem with any of those 3 and would love to see it happen. Would be nice to see Fortson back in 5/3 and around the program.

Here is a good short list to start with. They were all voted 1st team AA by multiple sources. We could hang their jersey even if not officially retiring their number.

Fortson
Logan
Yates
Bonham
Hogue
Thacker
Weisenham

Killpatrick??

True. SK, Logan and Fortson would be ahead of him. Van Exel was the best player on UC's only Final Four team in 50+ years. That definitely means something.

Too long of a list IMO. Most people have no idea who the bottom four are. Eventually you'll run out of all the low numbers and people will have to be number 72.
