Sean Kilpatrick

Too long of a list IMO. Most people have no idea who the bottom four are. Eventually you'll run out of all the low numbers and people will have to be number 72.

In college the highest number anyone can have in college is 55. (neither digit can be higher than 5 anymore)...LOL

But seriously, you are correct. In order for the jersey retirement to be significant it has to be limited. IMO these numbers should be up there:

4 Kenyon Martin
12 Oscar Robertson
22 Steve Logan
23 Sean Kilpatrick
25 Danny Fortson
27 Jack Tywman

He is up to #3 on ESPN's Wooden Watch (behind McDermott and Paker):

3. Sean Kilpatrick (Cincinnati): So Cincinnati beat the daylights out of Houston and UCF this week, and Kilpatrick jumps from No. 10 to No. 3? What gives, Brennan? What gives is that Kilpatrick's sensational play in both games (9-of-16 from 2, 8-of-18 from 3, 51 points, seven assists, six rebounds, one turnover, 146 offensive rating, need I go on?) was indicative of his immense individual season writ large. Among players who use more than 28 percent of their team's possessions, only two -- McDermott and Canisius' Billy Baron -- are more efficient offensively. Neither plays the kind of defense Kilpatrick plays. It's high time we put him near the top of this list. He's been great.

With the Louisville game on CBS and the UCONN and Memphis games on ESPN, as well as at least 1 if not 2 premier games in the conference tournament on the horizon, a strong finish could really cement SK's first team All-American candidacy.

Amazing that we don't even talk about his D skills when compared to JJ, TR and GG. But he gets a TON of run on D with the experts. I can't say I disagree at all...he's just on a GREAT defensive team. SK is well above average on a fantastic defensive team.

I think he has a high BBall IQ and knows where to be at the right time.

So I was on a louisville fan site and they were seriously complaining about the amount of time kila uses to shoot his freethrows. They are hoping ricky p talks to the refs to get it straight before Saturday. Oh well... more WINS more HATERS

Was it that painful for the Loserville fans watching SK slowly kill em at the line last time?! Suck it whiny tard fans. They remind me of St.Louis Cardinal fans.

Here is the link from a Louisville blogger:

it is truly laughable that they have to dig this deep for something to complain about
This isn't exactly a original ploy. If memory serves me Oscar in his senior year I believe was subjected to the complaints of opposing Coaches for taking to long to shoot FT's. Perhaps some one can confirm this but it ended up costing us a big game. The ref handed him the ball and began counting. Anyone got any details on this. Is my memory failing????

Hahaha that is hilarious. My favorite line: "11 seconds would be one thing, but this is like being awarded three points for a 16-foot jump shot". No...No its not. The fact that this clown had a stopwatch out timing SK as he knocks down shot after shot is sad in itself.

Hearing how respectful, humble, and immersed in UC's history as SK is, I bet he would be honored that teams might try to use tactics against him that were once used against Oscar.

Hopefully he can score his 2000 point at the line so he can stand there for a whole minute while we give him a standing O.

ahhhh that would be classic! Take a time out, have him wave to crowd at half court, do it how the MLB players do lol. I would like for it to come with a 3 point shot. Just fitting for SK.

Heard the story many times from my dad. It happened, I think, in 1958 against Kansas St. It cost us a trip to the Final 4, or maybe the Elite 8. Oscar made his first free throw and was going thru his post shot ritual and one of his teammates yelled, "Hey Oscar, they're counting on you. Oscar hurried to the line, rushed the free throw, and missed it. That caused the game to go to OT. Oscar fouled out in OT. We lost the game. Kansas St. went on to the Final 4.

Funny, when I heard about the Louisville board complaining about the 10 second FT violation this is what came to mind. I too recall hearing this story from my dad. I called him to check my memory.

As he tells it, it was 1959 NCAA tourny Semi-finals vs Cal. According to the internet UC lost that game 64-58 and Cal went on to defeat WVU for the title.

Technically, I think that says my dad is as old as you are...lol.
LOL! I'm sure I feel like it some mornings. It's funny because I remembered that story because of my Dad also. I was probably 6 when it occurred. In the early 60's I remember him and I going to the garden to watch the Royals. Oscar was my favorite player. He was unstoppable.

One of our dad's memory was not so good. I don't think it happened twice. I did just actually do a google search on it just now and I did find some references to it being against Kansas State. But, now that you mentioned it, I thought my dad said it was in the final 4 when it happened too.
