L-T do you have a prediction for the game? My heart says Cats but my head says Louisville. Hope I'm wrong. Haven't been this excited for a game in awhile.

Waite, I put myself in forced exile for a reason, and I've been enjoying it immensely....so I have to watch what I say here. I am still not bestowing Sainthood on Mick just yet, but this is the type of game, and the type of situation that I believe Mick must win in order to take a "humongous" step forward with the fans who doubt him. We come to this game in a nearly identical situation as before. We're doing our thing and they are crushing everyone....same as the last time we met. The only difference is that the game is at our place. It's against a HOF coach and God knows how many times we've been reminded about Mick's success against that type of coach. So, both my heart, and my head, say we will win, and I'd love to experience another Rick Pitino ejection like the one we saw a few years back when we beat their a$$. The stars are aligned. Cats will win this one!

I hope your right about the outcome of the game. I'm not looking to bestow Sainthood on Mick. I also believe the amount of disgruntled fans is shrinking. Go enjoy the game. I envy the fact you have a ticket. Bring home a winner. For a afternoon put all displeasure over the last 8 seasons behind you. Being a supporter of the program for the many years you have been you deserve this kind of excitement.

One of our dad's memory was not so good. I don't think it happened twice. I did just actually do a google search on it just now and I did find some references to it being against Kansas State. But, now that you mentioned it, I thought my dad said it was in the final 4 when it happened too.

Haha, I was thinking that too. My dad has pretty reliable long-term memory. His STM is shot after a stroke he had a few years ago. I do know his memory is off on this one, slightly, because he said it was Cal and we lost by a point. The internet says we lost to Call by 6, so he was wrong on that account, which makes me think your dad could be more accurate here.

At least we know it happened, and it happened in a big game. I can't believe the internet doesn't have some written history on this. Maybe I just haven't dug deep enough?

As Cincinnati rolled to the airport after a win at Central Florida late Wednesday, Justin Jackson asked for his team’s attention. The senior forward had an announcement to make: Sean Kilpatrick, his longtime running mate, had become the school’s second all-time leading scorer.

“Everybody give my dawg a round of applause!” Jackson said.

Everybody did. Some also made sure to remind Kilpatrick that sticking around to score 1,990 points meant he was old. But when the shouting on the bus began, no one stopped it. That vehicle, at that moment, was the one spot in the country where Sean Kilpatrick wouldn’t be underappreciated.

“I’ll never forget about it,” Kilpatrick said.

If UC fans are still doubting Mick, nothing is going to change that. They are too far gone.

Not even going there. Too much good happening to indulge people who simply refuse to see whats in front of them.

I agree. I've wasted a lot of time over the years trying to convince people Mick and the program were going to in the right direction. After the last couple of years, I no longer see the need.

If you don't like him, that's your right. But it's been 8 years. His vision for this program has come to life. If its not what you want, so be it. But there is no need to create a moving bar that the next big game will help convince his doubters. If you're still doubting, you will just wait for the next reason to complain.

Agree100% Just love how some still view tomorrow as a statement of his success or failure. Of course winning tomorrow is important but the program is top 10, leading division, and graduating kids. I will stand and cheer win, lose or draw. And I hope the 13176 there tomorrow will be standing and going crazy most of the game....even the sweaters

So far in Cronin's tenure I still think we have yet to win fewer games in each succeeding year (correct me if I'm worng). 8 years in a row? I don't think he is in danger of snapping that streak this year...he just has to win 2 more. I would never have bet on that pre-season. Fans have been so engaged with our success this year that I don't recall the streak being mentioned much.

It's been gradual...but it's been happening...and it's being done the right way.

I don't doubt for a second that a win tomorrow could win over a few more fans as far as Cronin is concerned...but that's not going to change whether or not Cronin is a good coach. Winning a few fans over with one game will only last till the next big loss...winning them over during the course of 8 years means the supporters will not jump ship after a bad game or two. Even perhaps (gasp) a season which goes worse than the last.

I believe last year was the first recession.

Actually WH, he has went backwards 2 straight years. Two years ago, he won the same amount of games, but it took him 2 additional games to achieve the same amount of wins. He had two more losses and a lower winning percentage. Last year he had 4 less wins and one more loss than the year before. Hard to believe, but true.

"After the last couple years, I no longer see the need????" Really? Last year, both the Big East coaches and writers picked us to finish 4th in the Big East. Mick coached us to a 9th place finish....bottom half of the league. In his tenure here, he has never finished better than 4th place in a league. During the last 3 years when everyone on here has bestowed "Sainthood" on him, he has finished 6th, 4th, and 9th This year has been very good. But, of the top 42 teams in the nation, only one team has played an easier schedule. That is Louisville. So, if you can't figure out why tomorrow's game is key to him taking a huge step forward with this fanbase, then I don't know what to tell you.

I'm loving this season as much as everyone else. But, he needs to close the deal and win a championship. An average finish of 6th to 7th place in the league during his 3 banner seasons is pretty underwhelming for a coach who has garnered "Rock Star" status on this site!

Watch out for fireworks

Lol....yeah, I know. That is why I stayed away from opinions and just posted actual facts. If someone wants to start fireworks over Mick's actual results, then they truly are lost.

And with this post, I'm headed back to my self-imposed exile from this site, possibly only returning to celebrate Mick's first ever league championship as a Bearcat. By the way CD, can't wait to see the walk-ons get a little PT as the clock winds down to our victory on Saturday. GO CATS!!!

Wouldn't that be a nice exclamation point.
Go Cats!

This.

Looking forward to seeing SK [likely] reach the 2,000 milestone this game. Think the projections that a poster did about a month ago had him hitting it during the Memphis game. Has been a lot of fun watching him turn it up a notch to beat those projections. Glad he'll get to do it at home.

Well I went back and re-checked. On the Cicny website when you click '12-'13 recap it pulls up results from '11-'12 for some reason. So yes, last year broke a string of not winning at least as many games as the year before.

My point was/is that today's game is not going to make our coach a great coach . He either is or is not a great coach. You don't get that done in one game...you get that done over time. Some coaches get there faster than others...but with Cronin there has been reason to give him more time.

If we win today, and it pulls more fans in, that's awesome. But this is not a must win situation for Cronin to establish his coaching prowess. He's beat every top 5 team (IC) once already, he's in the conversation for National Coach of the Year, and he's already had a season where he won more games against Top 25 teams in the country than any other team. For the most part he has done that with lesser talented teams.

The man can coach...it's just a question of bringing in the talent to get to the next level. The last two recruiting classes are very promising.

All that needs to be said on the matter. Cronin has proven enough. It's time to enjoy what he's done. It's gameday, we got better things to worry about than the past.
