Can somebody cheer me up and give me any sort of positive step forward out of this?

Brannen is done here whether they can fire him or not. They'll just try again next year. Cunningham seems incompetent, so him picking a new coach is rather depressing.

Casey Alexander. Thats it.

Because John is a complete and utter Ass hole.

Admit you’ve lost, take a structured Buy out and get the F outta here. He ****** us. Now I hope the players have some juice on him that they let fly and it ruins him for life. He can go coach at NCC or something.

If what we've heard regarding the transfers thus far is true, and there's not nastier allegations lurking in the background then I can't find any fault with Brannen not taking a lesser buy-out.

Unless he truely did something that gives you cause to fire him then why should he give up millions of dollars?

Look, I think it's time to move on too. I wanted to move on early last week. But pay the man the money he's owed to do it.

He may be a shitty coach or a shitty communicator. But that doesn't mean he shouldn't want the contract he signed to be lived up to.

I really don't think UC has the money for that... All money likely should be tied into fickell.

I'd be willing to bet they offered him a lower buyout and he said no. And I don't blame him one bit for that.

I do. In 2yrs 14players left him. Only one went to bigger program and even that’s debatable

There is none. Cunningham screwed this up royally. He clearly wants John out but can't afford it. Now he has walked UC into a corner.

Not to mention other coaches are going to see how this went down and want no part of it.

Which means we are stuck with a huggins tree and thats just sad.

Doesn’t the buy out reduce if John gets another job? Like if we owe him
1.5 million a year and he gets an assistant job for 500k, we’d only owe him a million for that year right ?

I’m gonna start submitting John’s busted as resume to every open job on the market.

Would assume he would land at louisville with mack for a year or two

My perspective is that the investigation is already done. They didn't announce it because it would hurt recruiting and possibly their relationship with Brannen if nothing was found.

Something was found. This is a dotting the I's and crossing the T's. Brannen is being fired with cause, but they are making sure they do everything correctly so there is no room for a lawsuit.

Brannen is probably being the option to leave now with no buyout - from either party - and retain some hope of continuing to coach elsewhere. If he doesn't take that option I imagine he will be fired with cause early next week.

There is no way this announcement is made if they don't intend to fire Brannen.

Interesting take. Makes some sense. That be the best case based off of today's disaster.

I agree 100% here. The decision has been made to move on from Brannen. It’s just a question of how much it will cost UC to do so. The parties are likely still negotiating.
