I concur he had a great game but c'mon, let's just keep the hype in check a little. He is midway through his junior year and still has no offensive game. Don't expect it to all of a sudden show up with 1 1/2 years left. UC just needs him to be an above average PF. Being one of the best is far fetched IMO...His points tonight were due to the guards (finally) driving to the bucket and dishing it or ooping it to him....His blocks were awesome to see especially since they weren't from him allowing his man to drive by him. They were actually legitimate blocks (except the one that was completely goaltending). He still had at least 5 bone headed plays tonight but his blocks made up for it this game.

All in all he was a key contributor tonight and deserves his credit.

Got to agree here, he had a great game and he's going to have games where he plays very well but people have been talking about the turning point for JJ for a long time. I think at some point you've just got to resign yourself to the fact that JJ isn't yet a complete basketball player. It's very tough to improve your game drastically in season. Maybe this offseason he can put it together and have a big senior year but I don't see it happening. JJ is a great athlete but he hasn't shown the fundamentals or the basketball IQ that he would need to elevate his game to the next level. He's not really big enough to be a post force and he doesn't have the ability to shoot or handle the ball so his place on the court is always in question. He's a hustler and a good shot blocker and has the ability to make some pretty slick passes but he has a lot of work to do if he's going to become a force.

It seemed like in March of last year, JJ posted up quite a bit. He either made a decent move to the hoop or passed it out, either way was becoming effective. Why don't we see more of that this year? He is quick enough to make a move to the basketball down low or make a move and pass out. I think this could open things up.

I'm still not sure where the hype about they way he ended last year is coming from. He averaged 4 points in the tourny. He averaged 4 points in the month of March. His very last game against OSU was a good one but that was pretty much it.

I never said he was amazing in March. I just said we threw it to him in the post more and I think it opened things up. No reason why we can't do it now. He is not helping us by being above the 3 point line.

Jackson has improved the last three years. I, like most people I believe, have abandoned the possibility that he could be a stud. He is an energetic role player and, barring a massive improvement, will be an energetic role player next year. And I am ok with that.

I know you didn't say it, but I've read it a lot on here lately. I agree with you that throwing it in the post is important. Regardless of who is in there. None are really that much of a threat to score but it still helps to open up the offense. And you know what, some of these players UC is playing against aren't the smartest in the world and don't realize that our bigs aren't much of a threat. I laugh when I see teams converging in on Mbodj and DNy like they are a threat. Either a lack of scouting or a lack of bball IQ.

He has improved and I'm ok with what you said but what I'm not ok with is the constant stupid turnovers and boneheaded mistakes. Cut those out and I can live with him.
