He has the tools just can't get it mentally together. Watch his shots, everything is long and rushed. That's a sign of a nervous player. I sound like a broken record, but the bottom line is this team has got to find some wing scoring.

I'm referencing dictionarys and you're referencing record players...I think we're old. :D

Congrats again to LD. He coached a heck of a game. Cobb was the man. UC needs to take a chance and just go with him over KJ. Not sure what is going on with KJ but he is a complete liability on the floor, as is Shaq and Sanders. Cobb might shoot you out of a game but he'll keep you in a number of games as he did today. Without him UC was toast. Defense was terrific today.

I wouldn't lump Shaq in with Sanders and KJ. He has been more active lately. I think he's slowly coming around.

Shaq is being aggressive. I really like that, now he needs to execute. His defense is much improved this year. I saw him pick up some guys off screens today that last year he was probably our weakest link in that area. Sanders I think just really likes the background and being a role player.

I've said this all year and have caught flack for it. Simple truth is you have to have either Caupain or Cobb on the floor for all 40 miutes so starting both of them is really tough to do. Games like today where the refs don't want to blow their whistles it would be OK, but games like NC State where we had 7 fouls 8 minutes into the game you would see alot of either KJ and Mormon at the point which I think we all can agree would not be good. We need Guyn back in a big way.

A game where the refs didn't want to blow the whistle and UC had 11 fouls called on them, KJ had 4 PF's in 16 mins, and 4 TO's. Apparently doesn't matter if refs blow whistle or not, KJ is very foul prone.

I know this is sad to say but I was really happy that down the stretch when SMU had four fouls to give to get us into the bonus and we had to inbounds the ball four times that we ran plays and got the ball in cleanly. We had to take one timeout later on the baseline inbounding the ball but in those scenarios SMU had no reason to not be aggressive and foul us to try and steal those inbound plays and we got the ball into the hands of a guard every time. That has been a problem for us this year and I just wanted to note that we didn't turn the ball over in that situation down the stretch.

Obviously he wasn't in the game mentally when 3 minutes in he has 2 TO and a personal foul.

Is there an example of a game when he was all mentally together?

Unfortunately I believe this is who KJ is, a volume shooter that is foul prone and doesn't take care of the ball. KJ cannot stay on the floor for an extended time even if the team needed him to.

The question is how long can they go with starting KJ? Cobb is obviously one of the most important players on the team. KJ brings very little to the floor. I think even starting Sanders or maybe starting Cobb over Caupain would be better, but something needs to change

This team is definitely coming together and playing some good ball. Im expecting to be recieving some top 25 votes and if we keep this up we could be ranked soon. Im loving octavius i think he is a great player and protects that rim with some force, love his toughness too. Really like this young team, i think they really feed off the crowd sometimes is was great to see over 10k show up for an 11 am tip really exciting game.

KJ is foul prone but not my point. Caupain had two first half fouls today. Had Cobb played those first eight to ten out of the gate maybe he picks up two fouls early.

More to my point, KJ or Morman would see decent minutes at the point if Cobb and Caupain both started, especially in games where the refs are calling it tight. We play aggressive on d and try to get our hands on balls. When the refs really enforce the rule book and start calling tickey-tack crap it would not bode well to have your only two guys you are comfortable with playing the point on the bench at the same time.

Games are won when you play 40 minutes. Game planning for 25-30 minutes with your best 5 players and maybe chucking 10-15 minutes with your fingers crossed that your lot of bench players or lot of players "who should never see the court" as members on this board like to say is not a smart strategy in my opinion and obviously not in Mick's or Davis'. Mick likes to have guys on the bench that can step in and the drop off isn't that much from the starters. Caupain/KJ to Cobb/Mormon is nowhere near the drop off of Caupain/Cobb to KJ/Morman or Morman/KJ. In years past alot of our games are won when our bench outplays their bench and I think this stategy is part of the reason why.

I wouldn't be opposed to this on a trial basis. I know he likes Sanders to come in for Shaq and understandably so, but I think Morman can come in for him if need be. I highly doubt we'll see Caupain off the bench. He is the floor general.

I'd like to see Morman start against ECU.

If the AAC got re-drafted would Ellis and Clark go in the top 5? Ellis could be conference POY next year if he improves his footwork on offense. And the thought of Clark for 3 years after this is ridiculous. He could get freshman of the year this year and be 1st team all conference by next year.

I think the fact alot of people lose sight of is just because Caupain and Cobb don't both start that doesn't mean they can't both play 30 minutes a game.

I agree i love ellis, he awesome this year and will be even better next. And clark wow imagining him in three years is scary. And to think this whole team is back next year (besides sanders, who isnt given us much at all right now) the future is very bright. But i got my eyes focussed on this year because i think we can do some things this year the team is coming together and playing great ball

I understand what you are saying about the pg situation. Guyn being out has hurt the depth. If you could get away with starting Cobb and Troy or another combination, I think that you have to try. Cobb is one of the most important players on the team. Continuing to start Johnson is not the answer. There just has to be a better answer. Obviously if you start Johnson, when you replace him you get better not worse. He kind of takes care of it himself b/c when he is on floor he turns ball over or picks up silly fouls and has to be subbed for.

Agree, I also think that KJ cannot continue to see 20-25 minutes a game. I would be very interested in the +/- when he is on the court. He gives you so little at least to date this season.

i agree with your stance. You need cobb off the bench because if he starts we one dont have any scorers coming off the bench, and we need a spark to bring in. and two like u said that would have us starting our two pgs, i do not want morman or kj bring the ball up the court. but they play together very often and will both finish games on the court. When they play together i prefer troy at point because i think he is a better floor general and gets us into the offense better, i prefer cobb playing off guard when troys in getting him more open looks

Yeah I like Cobb off the ball when they are both in. As good as he has looked at times this year I really don't like it when he pulls up for a three with the ball in his hands. His shot looks so much cleaner when he gets open and is fed the ball. That is pretty much true for anyone though. He does have a nice floater though.
