I think the last two games prove how valuable SK is to this team. He has had two off shooting nights in a row, yet still manages to get 13 points tonight and 21 points the other night (2 FGs and like 17-18 from free throw line). Just one of those smart veteran players that knows how to get to the line when his shots aren't falling. He's too good to be in a shooting funk for long, so hopefully he comes out of it against Memphis.

Also wish I was good enough to have two off shooting nights that result in 34 points. Impressive.

And Jackson was ridiculous tonight. Great game all around.

From a shooting stand point he def did not have a good game. He had a lot of good looks from 3 that didn't go in. But, he did a good job of attacking and he has been solid from the FT line which has been nice.

Memphis will be a good test for Jackson. They've got a few big men that are similar level athletes. However the strength of the team is the 4 senior guards. They will be tough to be at home, I just want the Bearcats to compete and give them their best shot. I don't think that happened in the UNM or XU games...

Shaq had a nice game along with Sanders. He did a nice job getting into the lane when we were struggling offensively in the first half. He looks more comfortable at the free throw line.

Yes Shaq and Sanders were very productive from the three.

Mentioned earlier this year that I cant remember the last time Sean had a good game against a good team. He forces too much against good teams. Thank goodness he knows better how to get to the foul line this season.
Jeff I think as the other players around him continue to develop offensively SK won't feel the need to force shots. Also when looking at his stats two games ago he was at the foul line 18 times. He was being fouled a lot. That has to have a impact on his shooting. He also is being asked to handle the ball much more. As Caupain gets more experience and gains MC's confidence he'll relieve SK of that burden. Working that hard has to have a impact on his legs which you and I both know has a effect on guys who shoot lots of jumpers.

JJ may have had his best game of the year for about 4 weeks straight. HIs confidence is through the roof. Points, blocks, steals, effort, rebounds and great passing once again. SK is still struggling but JJ is going to take some pressure off. We just need one more player to emerge and I think that player is Caupain right now.
he also needs to be commended for his lack of foul trouble. He has managed to do all this by eliminating those bad fouls he used to commit. Huge improvement

I have to admit sk shots have been the same he takes 30 shots hits 10 this has to stop if we are going to make a run tournament time. If Sanders and Johnson and Thomas had that long a leash Sanders confidence would be out tge Windows

NTS it will be interesting to see how MC decides to play that game. Don"t think we can get in a up and down game with them and win. I would think this is going to be more like the Pitts. game. Slow, physical and ugly.

Another solid win yesterday. Almost a carbon copy of the Nebraska game. JJ was fantastic, SK's shot was off again but he was able to get to the free throw line and knock thenm down with the game on the line. He has become a scorer, not just a shooter. His shot will come around. Rubles was again solid and did the little things it takes to grind out a win like this. You can see steady growth in the other players and they are playing as a unit. Memphis though will be tough on the road as they have 4 senior guards. SK will have to have a hugh game for them to have a chance.

For those that keep questioning that SK doesn't play big in big games, I've already pointed it out once before but I'll do it again in the hopes that it sinks in this time. It's a completely ridiculous argument.

First of all, he has been in a crazy bad shooting slump and at least last night, I think he let it affect his play. However, he still had 13 points on 6-6 shooting. Against Nebraska (an important game) he was 17-18 at the FT line. How is that not stepping up? That is clutch right there. Getting to the line when the shot isn't falling - isn't that what we've all been asking for?

He wasn't very good against Xavier but still managed 17 points. Had 19 against NM where he went 8-8 from the line. You could argue that NCST was big game and he scored 21 points and went 8-8 at the line and 3-6 from 3's.

You want to go even farther back? How about the UConn game where he was absolutely clutch hitting the game winner from 3? How about when he scored 36 against Marquette including the game tieing layup to force overtime and followed that up with scoring 21 against Syracuse? He scored 25 against Xavier last year.

Still don't think he steps up in big games?

agree completely. Nice to see SK getting some help from others on the team. Sanders,Thomas and especially JJ put up points. Rubles doesn't get the ink but he does little things very well and is a very good defensive player.

Lots of people don't realize it yet but Lawrence is going to be a beast. He is playing the 4 now but his skill set is really a 3. As he gets bigger and srtronger he will be a very good player. Probaly won"t fully take effect until next year but when it does he will be a difference maker.

No question about Lawrence. He has unlimited potential and just needs added strength and consistent playing time. Both will come next year. The freshman have been a breath of fresh air, and will continue to improve. It's exciting to think that Deshaun Moorman, who may have been the most college ready of the group, is redshirting and will be avialable for duty next year. It is an exciting time to be a Bearcat BB fan!

The Long Haul, I am definetly with you on this. He is handlioing the ball much more this year. Physically he is being asked to do so much more. not only does he have to continually run off screens but he is being asked to run the point and create his shot. Can't be good for a jump shooter to use his legs so much and log so many minutes. As the youngsters continue to grow and contribute hopefuly it will take some pressure and some of the physical pounding off SK. Also don't care how he scores as long as he scores. Foul line points are very good because it creates foul problems for the other team.

Absolutely

How about Justin Jackson's play/improvement. Just another example of a player who has steadily improved year after year under Mick and the coaching staff.

Ralph he certainly took a jump this year but In all honesty he was not putting in the time needed previously. This was according to MC. Saying he steadily improved might be stretching it a tad. Hes improved and certainly better late then never but wish it had dawned on him to work harder earlier in his career.

I think he improved last year, he was just hurt for so long. Now that he is healthy and put on more weight, he looks dominant.

He probaly did improve a bit last year and injuries certainly play a part in performance. that said, MC pointed out prior to this season that his work habits previously were not where they needed to be. He cited his improved effort as a big reason for him being named a captain.

The stats don't agree with you. From his soph. season to last year, his points per game dropped by 1.5 pts. His shooting percentage was the lowest of his career, almost 11 percentage points lower than his previous low. His FT percentage also went down. Blocks went down and turnovers went up. The only thing that improved was Rebounds, Assists, and steals. Overall last year, he was downright bad and many in here had given up on him.

Don't know if Mick gets the credit, or Justin gets the credit, or both, but he is a real player this year, and a leader! I saw him lecturing Lawrence in the second half, pointing to where he should have been on the press. He was very animated. Then the buzzer went off and Mick was taking Lawrence out of the game. Jackson made a point of running over and patting him on the butt as he walked off. I really loved the whole sequence. It was a teaching moment by a veteren, but he still gave him an "at-a-boy" at the end of it all.
