There are no games today
I believe the tryouts for the World Games are the same day. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
nice summary TYZ...one additional i would like to make was Gates' performance...he took over the game and could not be stopped, including a 23 foot fade away...he also continued to be the leader on the floor...he lit into Davis after Davis did not show good court vision on a fast break...Gates' was telling him to keep his head up and eyes open all the time...i realize its the Deveroes league, but I am loving what i am seeing from Gates this summer...good luck to the big man at the tryouts...his hard work deserves to be noticedThere are no games today, the finals are next week and I'm assuming Yancy won't be there. I have a feeling Slats will lose that game if more players don't show up than did yesterday. Jeremiah Davis was the only guard who played and the other team was kinda having their way with them for a while. After halftime the other team got lazy and made it a halfcourt game and kept trying to go inside and got blocked or put up a bad shot just about every possession. Bishop was there and he stepped into a guard role pretty well, they would've easily lost if he hadn't suited up. But next week's opponent has those veterans that will expose the Slats if they don't have any guards. I think Cheik can handle Paul McMillan fairly well, but I'd rather see Yancy go at him, especially since they threw punches at each other last year. Should be a good final, hopefully all the players show up.
Did get to see Ellis for the first time yesterday. He's definitely scrawny but you can see why Mick recruited him. He attacks rebounds and the basket. Seems to have a natural instinct for the position. If and when he gets some size on him he could turn out to be a very good player. This is based on maybe ten minutes of playing time I saw from him so obviously don't read too much into it, just my initial opinion of him.
One thing I did like about yesterday's game was seeing how Davis handled being the only guard on the floor. Mark Lyons (whose game is suited perfectly for the Deveroes League) gave him about all he could handle and exposed him several times, but he stood his ground and went right at him. He showed some dribbling prowess that I hadn't seen before out of him. He has a nice little hesitation move to get away from his defender when need be. Lyons is quick and was smothering him, but other than once when he dribbled into a triple team, I don't recall him losing the ball bringing it up the court. That shows a lot to me because in the Big East you have to have a strong ball handler to get the ball upcourt with all the great guards. They didn't really press at all so don't know how he would handle that, but one-on-one he was fine. Next week's opponent I imagine will defend the entire court, so we might get to see how he handles it.
Part 4 is up too. The dunk that Yancy had at the end of the game was freaking sweet. The team played well in the second half. It's always good to beat Xavier...at anything!
I can already tell chek is going to need to keep his hands straight up more often. Picks up sooo many fouls leaning over.
Chek is strong! i know its the deveroes league, but the kid seems to really have a strong and solid base...he was being posted up today by a guy that probably outweighs him by 20-30lbs, and Chek had no problem standing his ground...all summer, he has shown that he hits the boards hard...he also is not afraid of attacking the rim on offense...good summer showing from Chek...i am excited to see if his skill set carries over into BEast ball...I think a lot of bigs struggle with that- not just ours... so I believe SLATS won the championship today. Deonta suited up for them, which is cool.

Did deonta drop 400 like he did pre senior year of is career?
Dropped 30 something from what I heard. Saw an interview somewhere online of him after the game... he seemed to be impressed with Mboodj and was happy with the direction of the program since his departure. Said he isn't sure where he's going to play this year just yet but he's still doing his thing in Europe.
