I think it would be hard for a 5th year to come in and be an immediate leader. The foundation for leadership is strong in this program and I am confident someone will step up. I would be happy with a 5th year who could contribute some offense if the staff decides to go in that direction.

That said, if they did indeed back off Torian, I hope they have some good news with another 2014 or even a 2015 prospect.

I was speaking more along the lines of someone not like the UNLV transfer this year. A guy who isnt a hot head and listens. something similar to what rubles brought. I know he showed it more this year being his 2nd year in the program, but I would still have called him a leader last year. Kind of lead by example

I think by nature, all fanbases are impatient when it comes to recruiting info and results. We have not heard anything regarding Torian Graham, but have no evidence that the staff has backed off. If they did, I am sure there was a good reason, as the team is more important than any individual. We just need to stay patient and let the process work itself out.

Harrison twins were strongly leaning toward draft. Now they are considering returning to UK after NBA feedback. Should decide on Tues/Wed

Later today I will post highlights of prospects I must warn you #jucobasketball player Torian Graham is sick ! #Marquette

So I guess Marquette is involved too? The chances are getting slimmer and slimmer by the day.....

Looks like he signed with Houston according to nextuprecruits.com. Wow. Just wow

I wonder what happened with him. Did he have interest in us like we all thought he did? Where does Mick and Co go now? 5th year guy and transfer or 5th year guy and pocket the last one for next year?

He'll walk in to lots of minutes and shots. Could be the staff found a better option.

I think we have a 5th year lined up we prefer over Graham. And we didnt want to redshirt someone to get Graham. Instead we could get a Haywood/traditional transfer and theyll have a year to adjust and no one else has to sit. I really believe we were in the driver's seat for Graham but simply chose to go another direction. But I guess we'll find out soon if that is correct or not.

Just signed to the university of Houston truly blessed #R.I.P MOM

Looks like my hunch that he never had interest in UC came to fruition. Continually looked elsewhere where others swore he was coming here.

You are simply wrong, he had strong interest in UC. There is more to this story.

These are from December:

Torian Graham visiting UNLV tomorrow. High interest n Cincinnati as well. Missouri & Florida watched him this weekend

Garrett Tucker @GTuckerF150
UNLV, Cincinnati, and Kentucky are the “main schools” involved right now, according to the same source.

Cincinnati head coach Mick Cronin and an assistant visited him last week; Kentucky is in the mix as well, but the magnitude of their interest is still not known.

If Justin Martin picks UC, I dont think you can definitively say Graham wasnt interested.

Think about it...Do you really think Houston outrecruited us for him? Kelvin Sampson has had that job for like 2 weeks. No way he just walks into a terrible program and grabs a player weve been after for months. You gotta give our coaches more credit than that. Also notice the Harrison twins are still undecided...I dont think Kentucky ever showed interest in him this spring. Even though his charges got dropped, that whole incident was still a red flag. I think as more names came up, he became more of a backup player for us as well. I think he was so hyped by fans bc he is a former top 100 recruit, but I believe we'll land someone better who will contribute right away.

When a player goes from considering UNLV, Cincinnati and Missouri with interest from Florida and Kentucky to committing to Houston there is definitely a back story. He may turn out to be a great player but I think UC will take their chances with a 5th year transfer+ traditional transfer. It is hard to have 13 guys, so one transfer (possibly the kid from Jacksonville) getting redshirted takes care of that.

I recall Jeff saying a while ago that there is one kid who wants to be a Bearcat but the staff held back, could that be Martin from Xavier???

The thing is UC wants a 5th year guy so we can have that scolly back for next year also I'm sure we would rather have Haywood who avg. I think somewhere in the 12 to 16 range last year and Graham is a juco and still unproven in D1. If you look at who Houston is getting and got its easy to see they have tons of minutes up for grabs, they just today got juco Graham juco Weary and are still in on transfer Hollowell and transfer R. Johnson it's easy to see why he went to Houston.

Best of luck to him. It will be fun to watch him play us next year. I hope Houston can be a good team in our conference.

Wow...I'm not even upset about this. I mean if he wants to go to Houston that tells me he isn't good enough for UC. The only I am upset about is we wasted 68 pages on the kid.

Interested to hear this story down the road. Going from wanting to play at uk to houston? I think shots and minutes were important for him. I'm sure he'll be a fine player for them, good luck getting points against mormon kj and co.

Could be getting back us by going to Houston because he wanted to be here but we didn't want him.

Mick wasn't convinced he could get past legal issues. Period. It was a matter of if UC wanted Torian and they made him aware a week ago that they were no longer interested. Moving on as a program.
