If he gets a pick at the top of the key and shoots a 19 footer again (when he could either drive closer to the rim or shoot a three), I'm going to lose my mind.

I think Troy may be the one guy who is thinking a tad to much out there. Mick alluded to it in the post game. Mick mentioned he puts a look on his plate and I don't think he was talking physical. Troy is being tasked to transition us to a faster paced offense with less time on the shot clock. Not a easy task when in the past you have been asked to walk it up the floor. Especially with shorter time to work with. His job is not a easy one. he has done a decent job. We are scoring at a higher rate.If he gets a pick at the top of the key and shoots a 19 footer again (when he could either drive closer to the rim or shoot a three), I'm going to lose my mind.

He actually seemed to get it across midcourt quicker last night than normal. I remember him jogging it across multiple times. That usually doesn't happen.
Do you know the possession breakdown by half? I feel like in the 2nd half we slammed on the brakes.
I noticed the same thing. if we are back on track defensively may be Mick is going to try to speed the pace up a bit as we did last year towards the end of the year. The bad side to that is we have a knack for jacking up 3's at the wrong time in close games. We did that twice in the SMU game where I wished we had ran a little clock first. He actually seemed to get it across midcourt quicker last night than normal. I don't know the breakdown but I do know they extended their defense in the second half. Also when you have a double digit lead you are prone to slow the pace and run clock. if I have a 12-14 point lead I would kill my players for settling quick opportunities and not making the opposition expand energy guarding us and shortening the game.Do you know the possession breakdown by half? The people who blame the shot clock for Caupain's FG% should be screaming to get into the offense quicker.

All in the context of the game Jake. There is no hard and fast rule. Fact is if I have a big lead your going to have to earn your way back in I'm not going to help you or make it easier. Especially if your launching 3's. Those kind of shots are not that hard to find.Depends for me on how much time is left. Deliberately running clock based on the score is asking for trouble.
How many plays does he really create? His assist numbers are up simply because we are making more three pointers this season. Last year Farad Cobb was assisted on 40 three pointers, this year he has already been assisted on 38 (a lot of perimeter passes from Troy).
He doesn't properly run PnR's and we almost get nothing out of them. How many times has he quickly given the ball off to a cutting big man when the two defenders converge on him? He waits too long and holds the second big man out and passes the ball to the big man who set the pick 18-20 feet from the basket (if he even gives him the ball). We essentially get nothing out of those plays. He isn't a natural playmaker as a facilitator. Don't think he has the true instincts to be a PG. If he isn't creating plays by scoring (which is really inefficient at this season), he hasn't helped our offense.
I think he needs to change his shot over the offseason. Not improve it. But change it. His form doesn't allow for him to get any elevation. He isn't the best athlete anyway, and shooting basically flat-footed at times isn't helping his %s. I think he'd benefit from being 10-15 pounds lighter too. He could be better around the basket if he was lighter on his feet, and he'd have quicker feet to get there in the first place too. I've heard he bench presses the most on the team. That's cool and everything, but how does it help him on the basketball court? We've seen him get blocked and stripped down the stretch a ton of times this year. I dunno. Jmo.
Troy is very talented and he's a good shooter (but not this season). Honestly, I think he suffers a very common Bearcat ailment that infiltrated the program about 10 years ago. It's called "Micro-management Syndrome". He has the Micro-manager pacing up and down the sidelines, screaming and yelling to the point that this team just plays very tight. That's my belief and I'm sticking to it!

He's had the same technique his entire life, it's to late for him to change it now. He actually does a really good job of getting off quick, but I would like to see him gather himself a little more before shooting. The biggest thing I notice about his shot is that when he fades away he never makes it and when he finishes a foot forward from where he started shooting he makes it, it's a balance thing he will figure out
