UC vs. UConn Round 3

Yep. If our 1st round opponent doesn't use a tall bench player to initiate a Hack-a-Jack strategy in the paint then the coach should be fired. He's not even close from the line right now.

I think he had 8 pts. at half and 2 the rest of the way.

I really hope we avoid playing any American or former Big East teams for as long as possible. I don't want to see Syracuse, Villanova, Pittsburgh, Louisville or UConn until the Elite 8. If UC can face a team that cannot match the effort defensively, they can make it to the second weekend.

Actually I agree with all but Villanova. I think UC beats Villanova.

I think they'll end up a 5 seed. They have only lost to one non-ranked team but they did not finish the season strong. They will have a tough second game.

That doesn't matter. By rule it's goal tending, but I'm not surprised the AAC refs blew the call.

I'd like to see that rule, it is not goal tending to touch the net and that's all that happened. That play shouldn't have even mattered, if they hit their free throws or SK isn't so unselfish, drives more and gets to the rim and gets fouled, they win that game.

You are dead wrong:

9-11-1
A player shall not commit basket interference. Basket interference occurs when a player:
Touches the ball or basket, (including the net), when the ball is on or within either basket.

Under section 12 that is also a correctable error (subject to video review), but you will notice that they did not review the play.

It also would not have mattered if Napier had made both free throws with 11 seconds left, but he did not. For all that we did or did not do, we had a chance to tie the game and send it to OT.

Nobody can say for sure if the shot would have gone in if the net had not been grabbed, that's why that call is supposed to be automatic, the official is not supposed to guess if the shot would have gone in. It was a blown call pure and simple.

Just got done watching the game on ESPN3 since my DVR has gone to crap. Poor effort this tourney. UC seemed like they wanted no business being there. SK wasn't aggressive at all. I thought he would play with a chip on his shoulder after being snubbed. Instead I think he let it affect him mentally. I will say I'd much rather have lost tonight than have lost to Louisville tomorrow night. I say good riddance to them and I hope we never play them again as long as Pitino is still around. Watching the game, I wonder what this team would be like if we had a couple guys that could hit shots like UConn. I hope we got our bad game(s) out of the way the last two nights and play well next week. I'm planning on making the trip wherever they go but after watching their effort the last two nights I'm not sure I want to drop a grand to go watch them play in person. We better hope we don't get matched up with any team that plays even average defense. Whistles get tight in March and it's not that hard to force this team into jump shots. And to harp on it once more for this thread...HIT YOUR F...ING FREE THROWS!!!

Same Jeff. I am concerned that UC hasn't really played well against a good team for a long time. Seems like they may have peaked too early. Down to 25 in the KenPom.

Mick said after the game that they don't make goaltending calls like that for Cincinnati. Sometimes I think he gets a little bit too caught up in this "us against the world" mentality, but I can see where he is coming from. If it would've been reversed with UC possibly touching the net, then there probably would've been a 10 minute review. Oh well, that didn't lose us the game, we beat ourselves by jacking up horrible shots and missing free throws.

Still, I am very disappointed. Just such a poor offensive showing. Deja vu, just like the last uconn game. Poor free throw shooting, lack of execution .....the list goes on. We def didn't deserve to win. It stings bc IVE never seen a team play so bad and still have chances to win. Last night was a real realization that we won't go far in the tourney. Our players simply lack the offensive IQ to succeed. How many times have we all said defense takes you only so far...there comes a point you need to be able to score. We can't do that and its frustrating as hell to watch.

It was obvious that Connecticut just had more talent than us (especially on the offensive end). Moving forward, Guyn needs to sit in lieu of KJ. The offense looked the best the last 6 minutes of the first half when both Caupain and Guyn were sitting. I think the best we can hope for is a 5 seed.

Mick tends to whine way too much and gets annoying. As for the team, they will need a favorable draw to make it to the second weekend.

Everyone needs to calm down we lost by two to a ranked team, we are still projected this morning a 3 seed in Palm and a 4 seed in lunardi. After every loss everyone acts like we a re the worst team ever then we win and everyone acts like we are the greatest. So what we lost by 2!! It was the conference tournament, yes I wanted to win but now we can get some rest and fuel for the NCAA we will be ready

I'd want cues or nova in the sweet 16, we'd beat both
