UC vs WVU pregame thread

my first problem is the WVU 3pt shot that tied the game...was not aware that an offensive player was allowed to box out a defender in front of a 3pt shot...aka "what i would call an illegal screen" on Kilicli

Wow, thats a tough one.... Damn.

First off, an obvious mistake by the refs. I have zero clue what they where doing and Mick should demand an explanation as to why no timeout was called.

Secondly, Dion dion dion... Two lazy passes creating 2 points for them. Two opportunities at the rim and Nothing. And ive said this already, STOP shooting threes. 2-10 today. I love his game, but he shouldnt be taking threes nor have the ball at the end of the game.

Finally, Eternal... quoting yourself!? I like it. Well played.

The non call sucks, but bottom line is Dixon needs to make that shot. You get three feet from the rim and you leave it short. Keep the angle and use the glass if you have to pull up.

I actually thought the refs did a good job in the second half of not calling crap and being even and letting the players decide it. My guess is when those players started scrumming for the ball the were just going to let the clock run out and go to OT, which is how the game should've ended. The clock man had a quick trigger and the refs looked confused as to why the horn didn't sound. I'm not sure Jones even threw his hands up before time would've expired had time not run out. Either way the refs can't look at the monitor and decide to T him up for calling timeout. There are only a few things the refs can look at a monitor for. Clock management, foot on the line for a three or to see if a punch was thrown or how flagrant a foul is. They can't look at a play and call something they didn't call on the floor no matter how blatant it may be.

Basketball IQ

If your up by three, you don't let them shoot the three! You go on top of the screen not below it! JJ lost site of there best player and then watched him shoot the three! Can people tell me why Gates never tries to dunk in trafic!

Honestly, I'd take the win like that, but I want to win by deciding it on the floor. The loss sucks, but we're 5-2 in the BEast and we can use the loss as motivation against Syracuse. Maybe this loss keeps us hungry and keeps our heads from getting too big.

Its not a bad loss by any means. WVU is on a tear right now. Its just a tough one to swallow with how it went.

I agree, this loss does nothing to discredit the way they've played. WV is a good team and going to OT on the road shows you're right there with them.

I'm not even sure the non call is tough to swallow. It's a technicality in a rule that IMO shouldn't exist. To me if you don't have a TO and you call one the ref should just ignore it and let play continue. At worst call it a turnover and you lose possession. To put a team on the line and give them the ball just doesn't seem logical to me. What's tough to swallow is missing a great play run to perfection by short arming a three footer.
