UC after today's loss 89 in RPI.

Not worried about the rpi. That'll take care of itself. The Bearcats should have won yesterday but failked to execute. They gave away too many points at point blank range and I said earlier in this thread UC couldn't allow Brown to hit 3 off the bench. Dixon went under the screen and allowed him to ge set. Go thru the screen you win in regulation. This team is resilient and I expect a stellar effort on Monday.

I agree, this loss does nothing to discredit the way they've played. WV is a good team and going to OT on the road shows you're right there with them.

I'm not even sure the non call is tough to swallow. It's a technicality in a rule that IMO shouldn't exist. To me if you don't have a TO and you call one the ref should just ignore it and let play continue. At worst call it a turnover and you lose possession. To put a team on the line and give them the ball just doesn't seem logical to me. What's tough to swallow is missing a great play run to perfection by short arming a three footer.

It was a tough shot with guys under him but you have to make that shot. Gates missed at least 4 bunnies late and in ot. With a gueard on his back in ot he chooses to try out backs instead of going up strong and slamming the ball and possibly getting to the line. They played hard just came up short. You'll have that on the road in close games. Huggs is going to take options away. Dixion almost seems snakebit by WVU.

fyi, it was Parker who went under the screen, not Dixon.

Also, I hope the rpi will take care of itself because history shows that a major conference team will not get in with an RPI that high. And I'm sure the committee would love to send the point home that major conf. teams should be scheduling tougher OOC games. Still a ways to go and UC has a top 5 team on Monday, but UConn really hurt UC by losing to UT.

West Virginia 77, Cincinnati 74 (OT)
What we learned: If you haven't seen Kevin Jones play lately, you're missing the Big East Player of the Year to date -- and a legitimate national POY contender, too. Frankly, you might not recognize him. Jones, who struggled to adapt to a star role last season, has emerged as all that and more in 2011-12. This form was again on display today, especially late in regulation, when Jones hit a massive go-ahead 3 to help WVU push Cincinnati to overtime, where the Mountaineers outlasted the Bearcats for a massive home win. Jones finished with 26 points on 11-of-15 from the field, hitting both of his 3-point attempts and grabbing 13 rebounds in the process. Like I said: If that's not the Big East Player of the Year thus far, I don't know who is.

In the meantime, despite the loss -- and a truly questionable layup attempt by Dion Dixon, when the Bearcats needed a 3 to tie -- Cincinnati can come away from this game looking pretty good. Just a few days after beating UConn on the road, it faced down a star-led squad on its brutal home court and very nearly, but for a few late errors and big plays by West Virginia, came away with a win. If you thought Cincinnati was the second-best team in the league after the win over the Huskies, you might still feel that way now.

No where near a POY contender imo. POY's know how many timesouts their team has.
