I'm not sure how anybody could think Broome is gonna have a coming out party at any time after last night. I still can't figure out what got him benched.

His turnover rate is almost identical to xaviers PG, I found that interesting.

Here's to hoping Mick sees the light and lets Broome do his thing.

Per 100 possessions Goodin is at 12.5 ass to 5.5 TO. Broome is at 8.1 to 6.9. Our schedule has been a little easier as well. If Broome can go 2:1 I don't mind seeing the TO's as much. Jenifer is at 7 to 1.5.

I could be wrong...this is per sports reference.

Goodin has a really high assist rate but his turnover rate is 27.4 compared to broomes 27.5. but xavier has always ran a good offense so i expect their PGs to get a decent amount of assists.

Jenifer really shouldn't ever turn the ball over. we haven't faced any pressure defense and he never attempts to penetrate. shouldn't turn it over passing 30 feet from the rim over and over.

A ton of Jenifers value early in the year is due to his 3 point %, but if you had to make a list of 4 shooters, Evans, Cumberland, Moore, and Jenifer what is your order of who you want shooting it? Jenifer currently has the highest 3point% of the group.

Broome is also scoring 6 more points per 100. So when you average it all out they are really neck and neck (Jenifer and Broome). Cronin will value ball control over scoring if they are even and so would I. If Cane can reduce TO's in half...he is the clear cut favorite to run the team.

I hope he gets there!! Until then he and Jenifer are having about the same impact.

Early season lines are a little more difficult to judge/predict. Would be surprised though to see us open as a favorite on the road here. But wouldn't be shocked to see it close with us as a small favorite though (almost every single one of our lines has moved 1-4 points in our favor since opening, so clearly some people with $ like to bet on us).

Kpom has X favored by 1.

Imo, i think a true line is probably X -3. But the way money has moved if I had to set it, I'd put it at X-1 or pickem.

Lot still depends on the Baylor game too.

High roller right here!

another thing about Broome's turnovers, 11 of the 16 have come in 2 games. in the other 4 games he has 5 turnovers total. he's not out there just giving the ball up possession after possession.

cane also has a nearly 4x steal % and gets many more wide open looks for his teammates. the battle between them really isn't even close. it just isn't.

I prefer the other 3 players take 3 pointers but Jenifer has done a pretty good job of shot selection. He's not going to be launching 3's from NBA range or if he has a hand in his face. He shoots set shots. Cane shoots on the move more. I will prefer set shots unless we need to make something happen. Cane can create his own shots...but we only need that to happen when we are in a close game and having trouble getting shots off.

I think Gary, Jacob, and Jarron will have to play 30+ minutes in this game. Hopefully we can get at least 25 out of Kyle.

Broome will get a chance to show what he can do but he can't make some of the lazy passes he has made so far. They will get picked off in a hurry. I like what Terry Nelson said a few games back "you have to fake a pass before you make a pass". Broome has been somewhat easy to predict on some passes. If he comes out and throws the ball away a couple of times he won't see many more minutes unless we need scoring at the end.

We will probably see Tre for 5-10 minutes. Justin's minutes depend a lot on how Cane plays but at least 15. Brooks probably 10 or so. Moore could get 10 as well. Williams can play if he's not trying to do too much...maybe 5 minutes or so. Eliel could see 5 minutes if we get in foul trouble but otherwise won't see any. Diara likely won't get on the court.

Jenifer is going to get closer to 25 I think unless Broome has the game mdchick was hoping for. Huge road game, Cronin will go with the PG he trusts.

I agree on Williams and don't think he is ready to help us in a game like this. I'd much rather have T Moore's shooting.

IMO...the more ways we can find to get "The Problem" the ball the better. High post...low post I don't care. Gary almost always makes good decisions and is a great passer. He is the most prepared player for this type of game as well IMO. I also like seeing the ball in Jacob or Jarron's hands. We need these guys touching the ball on most possessions. They all make good decisions for the most part. Both wings make good entry passes and can knock down 3's.

Completely agree. We don't need our PGs hunting shots for themselves.

These nights can kill us. Cane can go with 0 TO's or have 5 or 6 in 20 minutes. I like good Cane and I don't like bad Cane.

Yes...he is clearly more dynamic in every sense of the word. He can be a difference maker and I certainly hope he is. If he has 5-6 TO's in a big game we can probably kiss our butts goodbye...and he also could win us a couple too. We don't necessarily need him to win us games right now...we have some other very good players who can win games for us. I would rather he not lose them for us for now.

no but we could use one that can step inside the 3 point line off the bounce. cumberland, evans, and moore can make a living standing in the corner with cane at the point. im willing to give up 2 turnovers a game for a handful of wide open corner 3s.

I'm not going to go into it too much in this thread, but Broome isn't going to be allowed to do his thing until he proves he can be trusted. I was surprised to see that the minutes split was 23/17 last night. Some of it was garbage time, but still closer than I thought watching live.

I'm torn between just throwing Broome into the fire and letting him sink or swim vs bringing him along slowly and letting him adjust to what we're trying to do here. With Jenifer playing pretty well, I think Cronin has had the right idea so far. It's pretty know that to be his PG you have to be reliable. Not sure what Broome did so wrong last night, but he hasn't exactly been a reliable floor general to this point. He's only 7 games into his career so I haven't lost hope bc you can see the talent. He just may be one of those guys who is much better in March than November.

see i just dont view it like this. we need our best players to play. jenifer to me is a watered down version of caupain. in basically every sense. and as much as i loved caupain i understood his limitations limited the offense.

we all want the deep march run. for that to happen the PG spot needs improved off the past few years. in my mind you just dont get that with jenifer.

i dont know that broome can do it, but i see how the PGs of other top 10 teams play and how they penetrate and how they force defenses to rotate. jenifer does not do that ever. caupain did it rarely.

it's cause broome played a lot in the 1st. he got in for about 3 minutes then yanked out in the 2nd half. then cronin put him in with 4 minutes to go with the back up guys. and did you see the look on broome's face when he got pulled with a minute to go. that man is not happy.

Jenifer's shot selection has been a lot better this year imo.

This Game is full of mismatches for defenders.

IF Broome and Jenifer play quicker, Goodin will not be able to stay in front of them, But at the same time Goodin will exploit Jenifer and Broome's lack of height and could get to the rim at will

Jarron already proved he can carve up Jp Macura. But Jp Macura has become a much stronger player and is driving to the rim and creating far more than just shooting 3's. Intense matchup

Evans will mostly likely be guarded by Gates and Evans took it to him last year. But on the other side Im betting Evans guards Trevon Blueitt and his length kept TB from even catching the ball.

Gary will be guarded by Blueitt at least some of the time and He's actually been pretty dominate guarding Gary even though TB is relatively bad defender. Hopefully Gary cuts him up early. One Concern if Gary gets switched on to Gates, is that it will pull him far away from the basket as Gates only shoots 3s and will just hang on that line all night.

No one Xavier can guard Kyle Washington. His Hook shot is unblockable anyone but X has no one who is going to stop Kyle. However Kyle's issue will be on the other end when he is matched up against an uber athletic and Physical guy like Tyrique Jones. Jones can get Kyle into foul trouble and get him flustered. I think its a matchup to watch.

Bench Wise, its going to be super interesting to see if any of the freshman on either team have any impact. Would love to see Trevor Hit a few open 3's. Or Keith have a break out game like Jarron did. But they have some talented freshman on the other end as well and Scruggs is a huge matchup problem for our PG's.

This is going to be an insanely great game. Win or lose we will learn a ton about UC. And Mick is ever going to beat X in cintas Again, this is the year.

and the problem for me here is these next 4 games are the most important stretch of the season for us. they will go towards where we get seeded more than anything else (assuming we dont lose awful games in conference).

yes we want to peak in march, but with how the committee screws this conference every single season, we can't afford to be another 5 or 6 seed shipped out west. we have to win them all. it sucks but it is what it is.

Cane has just not gotten used to the speed just yet but I think he will as the season goes on. I don't want to see 6 TO's in 20 minutes (and that is against BAD teams). As he gets more comfortable I think he gets more and more minutes and I (like you) think he will be the best man for the job in March. He's just not there yet. He will get there.

Can we find PPP anywhere with both of them? I personally feel more comfortable in a big game with Jenifer at this point in time. Broome just doesn't seem ready to run a high major offense to me.
