DePaul was the only school to watch 2012 Our Savior New American (NY) PF Chris Obekpa play in Puerto Rico this week, per a source.

2012 Our Savior New American PF Chris Obekpa will visit Cincinnati in February when the Bearcats host Louisville on 2/23/11....

RT @AdamZagoria: With Steve Lavin of St. John's watching, 2012 PF Chris Obekpa had 11 points, 15 rebounds & 20 blocks for OSNA (NY).

He is a perfect fit for the new look Cats. He can run the floor, block shots and defend. Think about the athleticism of Jackson, Gaines, Ellis, Mbodji, Obekpa if he signs, Rubles if he signs, and Thomas in the 3-5 positions.

Jeff, you say the cats have a shot, can you update us on what his list looks like now, where UC stands on that list and I know it's a crap shoot, but the odds of UC signing him.

Thanks for anything you can add.

I know UConn got Thabeet a few years back, but I think getting Ibrahima Thomas and Mbodj makes UC more interesting to the kid. And factor in Yancy graduating, and UC being thin in the low post to some extent, Obekpa surely should be considering UC.

I think UC has a definite shot.

All I'm hoping for is that the kid doesn't commit anywhere before he visits for the Louisville game. Fifth Third will be going crazy and you never know what could happen once a kid actually steps foot on campus for a visit.

Recruiting is a fluid process but with April (Late signing period) right around the corner we are in a great position for Obekpa. Savino and Cronin have done a great job developing a relationship with him. I think this is a two horse race at this point between us and Uconn. Florida and St. Johns also have been mentioned in the mix.The visit next month will be huge. The shoe will be rocking. Lets get this guy!

C Christopher Obekpa - Centereach (N.Y.) Our Savior New American; uncommitted

Obekpa turned heads in Las Vegas this summer with his athletic and energetic play. He was a game changer in the lane and secured a ranking right outside the four-star range. The question Rivals.com will be looking to answer is whether or not he should have that fourth star. The other question is what exactly is going on with this uncommitted prospects recruitment.

You can't have enough athletic 6'8'' guys as far as I am concerned... The recruiting will definitely pick up as this style of play is both fun to watch and play... Let's get this kid!!!

Really hope that we get Obekpa, seems he would fit system perfectly alongside Gaines, Jackson and Ellis. We just need a guy to rebound and get stickbacks b/c we are so guard heavy. It won't be the end of the world if we don't get him, have plenty coming next year with Thomas and Ellis (Who may be a seven footer next year)

Very few kids WANT to go at Obekpa. Frankly, most are quite terrified of him. Guy is good at his craft. Blocks almost everything @Hoophall

Steve Lavin and Mick Cronin up early to see Chris Obekpa. Cronin brought asst. Darren "Pitbull" Savino @Hoophall
