Help Support BearcatTalk:

I'd have a hard time taking a guy who turns it over 21% of the time.

Hes a freshmen and has time to learn. Isnt even close to as raw as Diarra. He most likely is in the same boat as Cane Broome, had the ball the whole time because he was the only one on the team.

Id take Mike over anyone left on the board at this point.

Hes currently about to Visit SMU, which sucks because i dont want him to play against him and then he will visit Oregon.

All others things considered, this seems like a strange reason to not want a guy who was a FR on a bad team.

So we should want him because he scored on a bad team? That's a pretty low bar to set.

His peripheral numbers are terrible.

He turns the ball over a ton and doesn't offensive rebound.

He's a big guy that thinks he's a wing.

No thanks.

I'd trust that a year practicing with the team would help him a lot. I wouldn't mind having a guy like him at the 4 vs someone who can't shoot...especially when you consider who we will have at the 5. I guess we'll see how good he becomes at a higher level school bc he sure seems to have options.

Back to Diarra, I don't know much about him. Seems like he also has good options.

In his defense. He did shoot better from the outside than our starting 2 guard did

I don't think he's that great, but I also think "hes better than a 30% shooter!!" is an extremely low bar for you to set.

Not a whole lot tying us to him anyway.

Diarra visits this week. I'd have to assume he's a priority at the present time. Might as well steer the convo towards him.

The only reason I said that is because you said he wants to be a guard. so I looked up our guards starting numbers.

But I also think we want guys with offensive skill to come in here. Im not worried about defense or rebounding because if you play on a Mick Cronin team you will learn how to do both. Add in that off year of just conditioning and he will bulk up, add in him practicing against Gary and Washington and he will get better on the defensive end. The guy can play, and hes proven he can play at the D1 level. I just dont understand why anyone would be so hesitant to pass on this guy, especially over any high school kid who is far less proven to be able to score or play at the college level. Can Diarra play? maybe, but right now, if these are our 2 options. Im taking the proven one over the project. Especially when they play the same position and only a year difference in eligibility. Diarra calls himself a small forward...atleast on twitter

He's got a good offer list in UConn, Marquette, Kansas State, Missouri, etc. Not sure I'd do blackflips, but I'd certainly welcome him.

Here is the actual text:

6"9 small/power forward . respect yourself and I will respect you #ripdad & lilsister #amosc: mamoudoud14

FWIW Mike refers to himself a SF on twitter.

One knows he is a combo forward. The other doesn't.

If we needed another wing I'd be a lot more interested in Mike. They need an offensive-minded big and when you add the fact he thinks he's a wing to how much he turns it over I'm just not a fan.

I don't think either one is going to take us to the final four. Mike looks good on a 3 minute highlight reel but has some issues and diarra (spelling) is a 3 star that probably wouldn't see much playing time his first year. Wouldn't mind having them but not going to be heartbroken if we didn't get either
