2016 General Recruiting

If Brooks can give us some under the basket defense and rebounding I will be very happy. I expect no offensive skills at all.

Agreed. That's my expectation for Brooks. Quality back-up minutes of playing sound defense and rebounding. If he gets some offensive boards and puts it back great. If he doesn't score and is a solid defensive presence, I'll be more than pleased.

We are supposed to be a high octane offense but it hinders our defense. The game is slowed down on purpose to protect players and keep them out of foul trouble. We scored a lot of points but lost a lot of games early this season which caused us to change the philosophy.

I've been pretty bored today so I've watched a couple of API's games to watch Brooks. Honestly, not too impressed with him. With our history of not developing big guys I am skeptical for sure.

While watching the games, I was really impressed with a kid named Billy Preston. I've never heard of him so I looked him up. 5 star recruit, 6'10. After seeing that I wasn't surprised. That kid can score in many different ways. How he is in the class of 2017 is crazy. He looks old and is built like an upperclassmen in college.

Just in the first 13 min. of the video he puts on a nice show.
Agree completely with this. I even said something similar awhile back at the beginning of the season when they were playing games on ESPN. Preston is definitely impressive as well like you said.

That Foreman guy might make some poster's on here real angry. Was a high end 3-star but he's transferring out and has no big offers. Why would UC even go after him if not other big schools want him? He's probably terrible after averaging 8pts and 6rebs in the Big10 on a terrible team.

Deberry wasn't looked at by big schools so why should we not do our own work and development with players?

I was being quite sarcastic bearcatbacker. I would accept Foreman with open arms, would give us much needed depth at the 4/5.

Kaleb Joseph(#48 in his class out of high school) is transferring from Syracuse.

4 star rated 98 by rivals. Heres another highly rated recruit who has been anything but good at the collegiate level. Had 16 high level offers out of high school.

More proof that highly recruited and multiple offers out of high school really doesnt mean much

They do matter. There is a reason even cronin starts out chasing 5 and 4 stars until we get cut then settle for lower ranked recruits. If they didn't matter why do the perianal powers, who get the higher ranked recruits, finish well in the tourney? It's common sense...
