They do matter. There is a reason even cronin starts out chasing 5 and 4 stars until we get cut then settle for lower ranked recruits. If they didn't matter why do the perianal powers, who get the higher ranked recruits, finish well in the tourney? It's common sense...

No kidding. People are nuts if they don't think it matters.

The point is there are over thousands of recruits. Other than the top 15-20 it's impossible to rank kids. Heck. NBA teams swing and miss in the draft and they scout these guys to a larger extent

While that's true, I think it's important for us to get those top 100 4 star players. Look at Villanova, their 8 guys who played were top 100 players. It def matters. When watching the NCAA tourney, it's impossible to not look at these other teams and notice their players just visually look better than UC. (Size, skills, IQ)

The bold sentence is sad but 100% true.

To me not so much their size but their skills and IQ yes. I will say this though, out IQ and skills look comparable when I see Troy, Gary, and Jacob doing their thing. Cumberland and Washington will also be good. If Johnson and Jenifer can bring something to the table, our core will be good enough for a good run.

and we can blend a good team with the higher recruits with guys like Broome or Cobb without question

No doubt. There are exceptions, but Talent matters. In a team game our players may be pretty good at two or three aspects of the game. We're able to hide their weaknesses in the team game. But we can see the deficiencies. Our teams can't pass. They're not that tall usually. We lack a good shooter, usually inconsistent scorers. I certainly saw the difference when watching other teams in the NCAA tournament

I'd also rather a polished 4 Star with less upside vs A 4 star rank on potential like biggie McLane or Shaquille.

I'm glad our coach can find the fringe players that can actually Translate. no doubt we need a couple of top 30 top 40 players every year, and we need them to pan out

Miami transfer James Palmer told @CBSSports he will visit Temple at the end of April & Nebraska in May. Cincinnati, Cal, & UW also in mix.

Cincy Enquirer update 4/7/16

RECRUITING UPDATE: “We’re still not done,” Cronin said. “Technically we have three scholarships to give. The transfer market is so plentiful in the spring, that was kind of by design. We don’t always use all 13 (scholarships) anyway. You can only play so many guys.

“We definitely need to add a couple of guys, but we’re trying to make sure we get the right guys.”

- Seems like we may have some options, I am hopeful we aren't passing on guys to lose out on other "better ones"

Looks like we could be after sf juco devin davis who went to juco after being dismissed from Indiana last year, dude is a big time player would love to get him along with broome....

Are we actually going after him or was that statement just your opinion?
