Can I just say a few things about our bigs right now? Either one of them can score in the paint at a pretty high level. But they are shooting near 40% from 3 between them. And by the way...knocking down near 75% from the line between them.

These guys can score down low...AND they can both shoot! How much of a luxury is that?

Both Kyle and Gary are playing very well and our very tough to defend because of the versatility in their games. Our struggles offensively have come when we do not take care of the ball.

I mean look at the career averages of some of our best players as well as some heavy minute volume shooters recently.

3-Point Field Goal Percentage (Minimum: 100 made)
.401 Field Williams 2000-01/2003-04
.394 Darnell Burton (306-777), 1993-94/1996-97
.385 LaZelle Durden (260-675), 1992-93/1994-95
.378 Steve Logan (258-682), 1998-99/2001-02
.358 Nick Van Exel (147-411), 1991-92/1992-93
.348 Melvin Levett (164-471), 1995-96/1998-99

TC had 3 seasons under 32.9%. KJ had 3 seasons under 31.4%.

We don't have 1 shooter right now under 33.9% that has taken at least 33 shots (7 players). 4 of our guys average out at 40% or better.

We are definitely knocking down some shots. Hope we can continue for the remainder of the season.

Its one of the reason TO's tick me off. we can score if we take shots and not turn it over

Evans is at 38.8% for a career but that has been climbing since his frosh year of 33%. He hasn't shot under 41% since. If he plays another year he could be our all time leading 3 pt % guy.

POY rankings. Pretty nice company for Gary Clark.

RK PLAYER TEAM SCORE
1 Trae Young Oklahoma 2.693
2 Jock Landale Saint Mary's 2.533
3 Marvin Bagley III Duke 2.286
4 Jalen Brunson Villanova 2.282
5 Deandre Ayton Arizona 2.182
6 Keita Bates-Diop Ohio St. 2.171
7 Luke Maye North Carolina 1.981
8 Mikal Bridges Villanova 1.937
9 Gary Clark Cincinnati 1.796
10 Wendell Carter Jr. Duke 1.776

Will we miss him? Yah..probably

If Evans had the same season he had in his soph campaign .418%...69 for 165 (for the rest of his career) he would end his career at exactly 40% from 3. That would be .001% behind Field Williams and end him at #2 all time in % from 3...only .001% behind being #1.

For any player that qualifies with 100 makes...that is not only solid...but great!

So far this year Evans is .411 not .418...so he's very close to that pace.

4 big 10 teams
2 SEC teams and neither is Kentucky
2 Pac teams and neither is UCLA
The highest rate Acc team is not Duke or NC

Whenever bearcats are in for a jump, I can't bare the weight of waiting on the polls to come out. So I end up searching for peoples AP ballots they post beforehand. So far I am noticing a lot of people moving Xavier all the way to 2, and even 1. Meanwhile we have moved up to a 5 max. Now I don't think Xavier or us should be jumping Virginia or Villanova, or even mich St at this point. But I wanna know what these voters are seeing in them that they aren't seeing in us. We absolutely demolished 2 teams this week, they barely got by. I know the teams they played were better, and both their games were on the road. But I don't see this monumental difference where they are jumping 4 spots to our way. Anyway, we will see when the real polls come out

We now have the #1 Adj. Defensive Efficiency on T-Rank.

We are still slightly behind UVA on Kenpom but that makes me wonder about something. I remember coach saying we were working on a lot of offensive stuff early in the year and not focused on D as much. That is different from years past. We really started to focus more on D after the Eggsavier game and once we got to conference we have been flat out bringing it.

We've even had several blowouts where we bring in the bench or play some stall ball and we have seen some late scoring due to that. I really think since conference started we might be the #1 D in the country with our standard rotation. A little of that could be due to conference strength but most of that is adjusted for. UVA is excellent...but I think we are right there with them if not a little better.

We have some challenges coming up but I think we are up to the task on D.

I like to think we are as good as anyone in the country right now but once we get past Houston and WSU there won't be any question left IMO. A top 30 RPI road win and and a top 25 ranked home win would go a long way to squelch any doubts left in a lot of minds. Playing in our conference creates some doubts out there (it is what it is)...but we can surely stomp them out with a couple of wins. I would even think we would have a chance to jump some teams that don't even lose if we perform well this week.

Let's goooooooooooo Bearcats!!!!!!!!! WE can do this!

Is New Mexico State going to be ranked in the real poll? My brother pitched there and loves their basketball program so he's gonna go nuts if they get ranked. Especially after Weir left them for UNM. I hope they get a tournament win this year bc they'll lose Jans too the second Marshall ever leaves Wichita State.

Yes sir. 2-0 this week and look out world. I'm thinking we do that, I think we receive at least one #1 vote.
