probably the best on ball defender in college, ARate of 33.4, 39.8% from 3, 84.3% from FT line.

i'd say he's in the conversation.

I’ll never fully buy a West Virginia team.

They jus don’t impress me on offense. And while technically they are slightly more efficient offensively, I would trade our roster for theirs.

I don't think we have played our best ball on offense yet...maybe by a long shot. We started the year with Kyle struggling a bit. Then Cumberland. Cane will probably start to see more minutes very soon. When we put all that together we can be very efficient. I think we will. I saw a nice spark from Cumberland in the last game which hasn't been present for most of the year. Kyle has gotten things figured out for the most part. I think we all see Cane starting to increase minutes whether he starts or not.

We will need all of this down the stretch...and I think we will get it to happen for the most part.

It really looked like Jarron was having fun again last game. He was visibly upset when he got those 3rd and 4th fouls...especially the 4th. He wanted to stay in and keep it going. If he can get the scoring piece going he's going to be a very good all around player. He really does a lot for the team when he's out there...evidenced by his 36 minute 0 point performance @ Temple.

I wasn't sure we would see the time when we need him on the court regardless of scoring...but I think we do. He's just solid in almost all aspects. All around Evans and Clark are clearly the best...but Jarron is a clear 3rd IMO.

they can't shoot. that team definitely shouldn't have a higher rated offense on kenpom than we do. they likely won't by the end of the season.

My post should say I wouldn’t trade our rosters.

They generate a lot of TO on defense that lead to easy baskets in transistion so that’s why are ranked higher Id guess

Their defense is very gimmicky too. They foul a lot. A lot.

Less about good guarding defense and more about creating havoc and chaos

Two games that we lost Cane played more minutes then JJ. I'm not saying JJ is a better player then Cane but the point is when we are forced to play him more it means someone is playing badly or we have someone in foul trouble or aren't playing well. It also doesn't always mean its JJ. When they play similar minutes it appears we are playing well and have things going our way. Of course some of that could be schedule driven.

I guess what I'm saying is when they play similar minutes we seem to win. When we feel the need to play him more often it appears that we lose.

They really remind me of Coach Huggins teams here. Tough, they guard, rebound and at times can't hit a shot but their defense always keeps them in games. Sound familiar???

I would absolutely trade their roster for ours. Smart experienced guards, one of which is a potential all american and definitely national defensive player of the year. 2 out of three years making it to the sweet sixteen and a couple of missed free throws against Gonzaga that would of propelled them to the Elite 8. A rim protector in Konate, a versatile small forward that creates matchup problems and young and talented bench. They have 7 sophomores and freshmen. Our current roster hasnt done any of that and doesnt have a rim protector or all american on the roster.

Yep!! The good ol days. lol. Only difference is his current teams have made it past the first weekend consistently. 4 sweet sixteens, 1 elite8, 1 final four in 10 years. Not bad. Can we please make it past the 1st weekend this year!!!!!!!!!!:)

I agree to a certain extent here but obviously they use Cane to try to bail them out when others aren't able to score. That tells you something.

But obviously not the whole story. Cane leads most categories on Justin except turnovers and maybe on point D...IDK on that last one. But at the same time Cane gets more steals and rebounds per 40. Cane has more assists and points per 40.

To me it all comes down to plus minus when each are in the game. I think Cronin is still trying to teach CAne a thing or two. Maybe it's how he wants to run the offense. Maybe it's not looking to be the primary scorer...who knows. Maybe it's a combination of the two. Attitude? IDK. Either way I don't think the TO differential is enough to offset the rest of the stats.

Per 40 minutes Jenifer leads Cane by 2.4 turnovers. Cane leads by 1.8 rebounds, 1.6 steals, 1.1 assists, and 6.7 points. When you add all that up Cane is plus 8.8 overall. I don't care as much if we use him off the bench for scoring pop...but he needs to be on the court more unless there is something we aren't privy to which there probably is.

Really don't think there is more to it. He uses Cane in a variety of roles. JJ can't give him that option. That is why on this team he uses him like he does. Cane has a very important role on this team even if he isn't starting.

Give me Cane!!! If we are going to lose in the first weekend lets lose with the best players out there.

I don't know how else to explain the lack of minutes. Most every sign points to Cane being the better option except turnovers. He seems to do everything else better. The turnovers have come down since the start of the season. I think the way he plays means he is going to have some...can we live with it?

My short answer is yes...if the team plays better overall...hell yes!

Just because he is filling roles as you say doesn't mean we can't get him 30 minutes. If he has more roles we should see more minutes.

The ankle thing didn't help. But we have time to get him revved up.

Coach obviously feels better with Cane filling those roles then he does with JJ doing it. I understand what he is doing and why. That is why I have know issue with it. Having a guy like Cane coming off the bench is a big advantage.

Bill Self on the ESPN Campus Conversation podcast. Interesting to hear him talk about recruiting and the value of veterans.
