Cincinnati's Cronin has Bearcats on rise

One thing I've seen with consistency from you is that you bash the program and Cronin in particular and you support the past and defend it at every opportunity. You remind me of some posters that say they are UC fans but hope that Mick Cronin fails. You may not be that person, but that is certainly the image you project to me.

There IS no OOC debate. It is what it is. I'm tired of it too. They played the games and they won them. Last season they played a good OOC and what did that do for them in conference? Some second guess everything this coach does. I'm curious how many D1 college games they've won? Wonder if they've ever taken a team to the NCAA? If he said he ate eggs for breakfast some would say they'd win if he had toast. Let's remember, they beat Xavier by the same margin of victory they beat everyone else by. One more time let's not forget that the Big East as a whole ate the OOC alive and yet there are a total of 7 teams with 5 or 6 losses. Can we for once act like knowledgeable basketball fans and recognize the depth and strength of this conference and leave all the other BS out of it?

I do know,

I've appeared in just as many NCAA Tournament games for UC as Mick has. And he's getting paid way more than me.. Whats up with that? :D

LOL...for UC is the key to your post, but he has been there twice. Obviously, my point is he has won and he has made it there so he understands what it takes. Before anyone says it "I know it wasn't in the Big East!", but the process is the same.

R2G, think we can get a cut of that money?

Mick's coached 2 NCAA Tourney games. Mick is a great coach, UC is fortunate to have him. Rebuilding takes time.

Ralph, I really want Mick to succeed here. He is growing as he rebuilds. He has admitted that. On the whole I agree with you. If he had come here and things weren't in shambles I think many would have a far different perspective of him. Very tough situation and he has done many things well.

If Yancey Gates plays like he did in the Xavier game, UC can be pretty good. He is a real problem for this team winning against good competition. They have alot of other issues but if he would dominate in the paint they would have a chance. He simply lacks desire to be good.

The only reason Yancey played good vs Xavier is because his 20 ft fadeaways were falling.. Go back and look at the comments from the Tards from Xavier, they said they have never seen him make shots like that ever.....

After listening to Micks post game shows a couple times, I really do think he coaches based off this board. Only my posts tho

I've heard many coaches look your posts up for game planning. Actually saw Rick Barnes and Thad Matta on here yesterday scanning them.

How many of those has he won? yawn.

This is like 4 threads in a matter of minutes you felt the need to speak specifically about Mick Cronin in a negative way. He's done everything but take the team to the NCAA. If that happens this season what will you say? If the team makes it will you man up and say well done?

You day he has done everything except lead them to the ncaa tournament like there is some other goal. There isn't.

I theyf do go this year, this year will be a success. The first successful year since year 2 of his tenure. Certainly would be a giant step in the right direction.

Given the circumstances I don't think this is as black and white as you state. Yes the ultimate goal is the NCAA Tournament. But there were many things that he needed to do along the way because of those circumstances he needed to do to get there. I thought he should have made it last season and considered that a failure. My question is the same. If he makes it this season do those of you (in a larger sense) give him credit for what he's accomplished? I think that's a fair question.

Like I said in my previous post, most certainly he deserves credit if they make the tournament. And the expectation going forward would be the tournament every year. Out won't harem every year, but when it doesn't it should still be considered a failure.

When Mick was hired in April 2006 I thought UC made the best choice possible and I believe he has proved my thought correct. Mick has done one of the best rebuilding jobs ever.

I agree 100%. He has a full 4 year cycle of recruits now. The bad things are in the past. No excuses just win baby!

Mick Cronin should be the coach of the year in the Big East. He has led a team that isn't talented enough to win, to a 7-6 record. If he wins tonight that should cement him for coach of the year nationally. May Mick coach our University forever!!!! How fortunate are we?????

Absolutely. Like I said, mick has my full support soley based on this seasons outcome. I think being critical of his performance thus far is completely fair.

7-6 isnt good enough Ralphy. I like to win, I dont like accepting mediocrity.

Micks overall record at UC is barely above 500, lets not even discuss league play. Accepting mediocrity will get you no where in life.

Mick's record at UC is 81-74, which is totally fantastic starting from scratch. Big name Tom Crean's record at IU is very under whelming when compared to Mick. Crean will not see the .500 mark at IU for many years to come if ever.
