I see him as a major contributor next year. He is going to continue to improve, the more he learns to assert himself. He took a HUGE step in that direction during the tournament imo. His conditioning and his feet are the only things holding him back. He has good touch, and can be surprisingly agile at times. He proved to himself that he can hang with anyone. Purdue and Kentucky definitely don't have slouches for big men. The more reps he gets against guys at a high level, the better we'll see him get. He will have a lot to do with our team success next year imo.

Ellis and Clark are the things holding him back. Those guys are going to get 30 minutes each because they do so much on both ends.

They also don't seem to want to play Ellis and DeBerry together unless they are forced to. I'm not sure why that is.

After watching the tournament, it does seem like DeBerry and Ellis should play together more. We could be pounding some AAC teams with that combo.

Would've been seeded higher if we made that move during conference play

And not play Gary Clark?? I Deberry will be a solid guy who can give us quality minutes off the bench, but I would be surprised if he sees more then 20-25 minutes a game next season.

They all could play 25+ minutes a game. Clark should've seen time at the 3. Lyles from Kentucky was perfect match up for him instead he matched up against Stein.

Unless Quadri Moore makes a huge leap, I expect DeBerry to get more minutes next year. Although Shaq at the 4 can work against smaller line-ups, we are losing Sanders and will need Shaq's minutes at the 3 unless Evans is a stud from the start.

I hope we can find a way to get DeBerry on the court for 18-20 minutes per night, because I love his skill set. He's a very unique player -- has even shown the ability to put the ball on the floor.

If Clark can add a strong 10-15 foot jumper to his game maybe. He's athletic enough to play the 3. But playing all three as are right now would be difficult IMO.

Moore needs go play as much ball possible starting now. He should go live in gym right now

how come? Shaq was horrible 3pt shooter. Clark has better handles than Shaq also

Especially if Quadri and Tre Scott aren't ready to contribute. Playing all 3 together would be a huge strain on our rotation, even if Clark was capable of playing the 3. I don't doubt that Clark CAN play the 3 if given a little more time to develop, but he is best at the 4 in college. Putting a guy on the wing who can rebound and score with his back to the basket at his level doesn't make sense IMO.

It's not perfect but Clark needs to play the 3 to make it next level. Start developing guys now instead of JR/SR.

Just throwing it out there, but clark could extend his range to 15-18ft and still wouldnt play a minute at the 3

Clark might have better handles, but he hasn't shown a willingness to use them on the perimeter. Not sure if that's because of his role on the team or if it's a confidence thing. Shaq has played well at times as an undersized 4. Perhaps this year, Clark will play on the wing a little more when Shaq is in the line-up. I wouldn't mind seeing that at all, so long as Clark still gets significant touches in the post.

Maybe, I think we can both agree its a good problem to have. Can you imagine how much better a team we would have had the previous 2 years with Deberry or Ellis on the team.

Bad coaching if that's the case. Lyles would play the 5 here but play 3 now. Ellis isn't a 5 and Clark isn't 4. Neither would make money at next level playing them positions. Tournament come we should only be playing 7-8players anyway.

DeBerry
Ellis
Clark
Cobb
Caupain

Shaq
Kj/Jennifer
Evans/Moore

basketball iq to high. He knows right now his role isn't to handle or shoot jumpers. he could shoot better than 30% right now from 3. His coast to coast skills are probably better than any player in conference. Once he becomes comfortable and breaks out of shell watch out.

thats your opinion. My opinion is, why take your best post player out of the post? Clark is a 4. If he wants to make money at the next level, it will be at the 4. Not changing his style of what got him to this level of basketball in the first place. He excels playing in the post. Taking him out would be the same thing that happened with JJ. Obviously clark is much more skilled, but you dont fix something that isnt broken. You can still add and enhance his skills without changing his positioning.
