The UC - X brawl will live on forever. ESPN The Magazine devotes 3 pages to it in this weeks issue.

Byron Larkin comes off as a total jerk.

Mick about ready to end the game permanently, with good cause.

I would too, if I got my butt kicked all the time. :p

I know you typed this tongue in cheek and that is fine, but the fact that Larkin is quoted in the article saying this just shows the issues that are here with this rivalry. If you can't be humbled and embarrassed by what happened this year, you will never get it. It's a shame but I can't say that I am surprised.

IMO Mick is a better X and O's coach then Mack! Xavier has players that play hard and good BBall IQ!

Isn't he 2-4 against Mack? This was (and could still be) "the year" for Mick....and he lost by 23 to Mack.

Mack has taken what all the experts called "X's most talented team ever" and turned it into an NCAA bubble team.

St. John's beat UC at 5/3 by 2, on Wednesday night UC beat St. John's at MSG by 22. If UC would meet X again this season UC will stomp them.

Mick is 2-4 against Xavier. And the first 4 years he had a significantly worse team while he rebuilt to the program.

UC has consistently gotten better under Cronin. This is the first year that you could argue that isn't the case, but there is still time to go.

Meanwhile, Xavier has been worse every year under Mack, and the recruiting to this point with the exception of Dez has been quite dreadful (how many players are going to be forced out this year?). So you guys have that going for you....which is nice. And next year you lose Tu, Frease and Walker. Better hope Lyons doesn't leave as well, which is being rumored...

there is no title to the article, but if it was the article written by Wayne Drehs, i found the article to be very biased in favor of X...the author did not even recount all the actions correctly if he was right in front of the occurrence...and he painted Kenny Frease as the next Ghandi (failing to mention his headbutt and continuous acts of immaturity) and X's issues (like the Butler incident)...I really thought Terry Nelson said what a lot of UC fans want to say...if this is the article you are speaking of, it might as well have been paid for by Xavier University...

They do have a 5 star recruit coming in next year.

Chris Mack definitely struggling, and it will get worse without Miller's players. I think they'll still be competitive for NCAA bids but not as good as under Miller.

Head to head, it was a 9 point game at half time this year. It finished a 23 point game. Better in game coach?

According to ESPN, Xavier has the 14th best recruiting class for 2012. If thats a drop in recruiting, I will take it. Has UC had a top 15 class under Mick?

One fluke game does not make a career.

X 2009 class....bust. X 2010 class....bust. Literally not one even average player in two years. 2011 minus wells is a bust. Transfer guy for x is a major bust. Thats your mack recruiting.

X is going to be horrible next year when they lose holloway

As you said with Mick, first two years recruiting you can throw out with a new coach. If X gets an impact player like Dez every year, I will be thrilled. (Not to mention, as you said in the other thread- give frosh time to grow...or, does that only count for UC?) Throw in the 14th best class coming in next year and X has a bright future.

How about them Gangstas, lose to Temple, never in the game. Fire Chris Mack.

You throw out Mick's first two years of recruiting because he had nobody to recruit. First off, he had to find a staff and second, no players wanted to come here at that time. Mack was in a pretty different situation. He only had to find one new staff member and kept Steele and Kelsay on the staff. He already had relationships with current recruits. Mick was recruiting Murray St. caliber kids (no disrespect - they're a good program) but you can't win in the Big East with MSU recruits. He had to develop relationships with new players and coaches, and that doesn't happen overnight.

I know there aren't any moral victories and no one cares about finishing 2nd, but the fact that Mick pretty much had Kemba and Hasheem Thabeet all but locked up shows you the man can recruit. In case you didn't know, Thabeet was set on coming here until he saw our roster and realized we had like 3 players. And UCONN, Kemba's dream school, offered him at the last second after Brandon Jennings committed elsewhere.

You have to admit Chris Mack is not a good game coach. His first year Crawford carried the team and was the only reason they won games in the tourney, same with Tu last year. Honest question - does Xavier actually run an offense? Everytime I've watched them they literally run ZERO offense. I know UC's offense can be pretty bad and I don't have much room to talk but it's a serious question. I won't be convinced that Mack is a good coach until I see them run an offense that doesn't consist of 2 guards dominating the ball for 25 seconds/possessions and chucking up terrible shots.

Don't worry though - you guys will probably have a couple more kids leave and you can pick up another transfer or two...seems that's the new "Xavier way" these days.

But as long as you're happy with him as your coach that's fine. I'm just glad I have Mick on my side...

LOL at comparing Cronin's situation to Mack's. And even then, Mick's first recruiting class at least landed someone productive in Deonta Vaughn. Williamson and Vaughn were solid too. You got Jeff Robinson, who looks lost whenever he plays a good team.

And Mick's second class had a couple of players who contributed, especially late in their career. You guys probably won't have a junior on the roster next year with the exception of Philmore (a transfer). Good luck with Towson's best player. I hear they are a great program.

This is now the third year in a row we are hearing about how great the next class will be. The first year it sucked. Dez is legit, but man is Dee Davis not at all what he was supposed to be. Forget that he is a struggling freshman. He was supposed to be lightning quick. Not even close to true.

And forgive me if I'm not sold on Semaj just yet.
