Given the other names out there if we settle on Fickell it's really not amazing that people wouldn't be thrilled about it at all.

The fact that no other school has considered Fickell as a viable head coaching candidate before speaks volumes. Or course, I'll give it a chance because what other option do I have? But I'm not going to pretend like I believe this is great for the future of UC football.

I'm going to hope and pray that tweet is BS, I'll believe it when Chad confirms it.

I am told a deal between UC and Luke Fickell is not done at this point in time. Heading in that direction, but not done. #Bearcats
 
Maybe we can't get Kiffin or Strong but I'd have to believe we could have Satterfield if we want him.

Guy has gone 4-8, 7-5, 11-2 and 9-3 in his 4 seasons as HC. He's an offensive guy, runs a spread, and was a former college QB.

In what world is Luke Fickell a more attractive option than Scott Satterfield?
 
Just as I suspected, people already tweeting about Coombs taking over when Fickell leaves.................

Yeah that's why I want an offensive guy as HC. They can call the plays and leave the defense completely to someone else. My worry with Fickell/Coombs is that they're both defensive guys. Even if they get a decent OC, it's still operating under a defensive mindset. I am so afraid of UC football becoming a rah-rah coach up the local kids program.
 
Fickel would be a great hire. and to anyone who doesn't want him because he is an osu assistant has little brother syndrome, osu is one of the best most dominant programs right now and urbans coaching tree is awsome. Fickel can recruit and coach extremely well, I know a few guys who played for him and they talk very very highly of him. An osu assistant worked out pretty well for houston didn't it? Charlie strong was urbans d cordinater at Florida did that work for louisville? Just a few examples, urban developes good coaches and fickel is more than ready

As for Coombs as an assistant of some sort. There is a reason almost every former player durning his time here wants him to be hired is begging for him to be hired. There's a reason the players signed a petition to get him hired when butch left and sent it to the AD. There's a reason all the media wants him. He lights up a room and can get his guys to run thru a wall for him. No doubt I'd want him In my locker room. Now I'mNot sure he'd come with fickel and I'm not saying he is I just don't get why everyone is ripping that possibility.if you Don't know much about him youtube him

bruh, we want an uptempo offensive guy, not some hard ass defensive dude. i doubt many people actually care that he'd be coming from ohio state.

Then get a good o cordinater. we also looked hard at strong a defensive coach so obvisouly bohn is looking at defensive guys too. And I've heard several people say we'd be like osu' jv on here go read thru this thread.

I don't want troy brown. Flecks out. Riley's out. Not sure how interested Candle really is in us. Weather it's offensive or defensive I want the best coach and fickel to me seems like the best option

I understand the frustration of wanting everything NOW, but that is not going to happen in today's climate of hiring a coach. Too many people in play and too many jobs available. It's called a search for a reason. No matter who they hire, somebody is going to be unhappy. At this point all you can do is trust the University to make a good choice. Not sure I'm confident they will, but there really isn't any choice other than to sit back and wait. Lots of other programs in the same situation as UC is today. I don't think we're any more of a "show" than them.

That would be nice. Have to have all the working parts. I believe I read that all the candidates Bohn has met with showed him their offensive plans which all involved spread offenses with high scoring goals. Good offense is the goal regardless of the coach.
