That's because most people are stupid. I'm sure most of them gave extensive reasons for why he's a "awful fit".
Like jacob said, alot of our fan base listens to Lance Mcalistar and Mo Egger. When you're basing any of your football knowledge off stuff those two guys say you're going to have a lot of dumb sounding people.

Yeah, he doesn't like to recruit, has a bland personality and got blown out by a 4-7 Georgia Southern team last week.

Last I checked Houston still didn't have a coach and they have been open longer than the UC job has been. I wouldn't go so far as to say that they are doing alright. I'm guessing their fan base is having a meltdown at this point. South Florida has zeroed in at Charlie Strong. I'm not going to lose any sleep over that. To be fair, I don't think we can comment on how desirable this job is until all the dust settles. It looks more and more like Fleck is delusional thinking he is going to go from W. Michigan to Notre Dame or some other major high profile job. He didn't even get considered for Oregon. I'm patiently waiting but no where near ready to jump off a bridge.

I guess I was just basing my Houston comment on the names associated with their search. As for Strong, I'd rather have him than Fickell I think. Close call. But I don't know if USF will even pay as much as us.

Blown out? They were up 24-21 in the 4Q and lost 28-24. It was on the road too. I think Troy was ahead of schedule this year and it caught up with them a little in the last few games. Still one of the best turnarounds in the country, especially for a team that hadn't been to a bowl in 6 years.

Sorry not blown out by Georgia Southern, they got blown out by Arkansas State at home 35-3 a few weeks ago.

Yep. They had just gotten ranked that week. A little too big for their britches I think. Watching that post game press conference I'm not sure how anyone could say Brown doesn't have a personality. Arkansas State isn't bad. I think they're a bowl regular and most of their losses this year were in the non-con at the beginning of the year.

We're going to hire Luke Fickell and the "leaders" of our University will have succeeded in making sure that our sports programs are never anything better than mediocre over the next 5 years.

As a lifelong Cincinnati resident and fan of Cincinnati sports I'm so ashamed to associated with such a huge group of people who embrace a losers mentality. I'm 34 years old and haven't seen a championship since 1990. Instead of demanding better from our teams Cincinnati fans just make excuses for why we shouldn't be good. It's disgusting and despicable and everyone associated with it should be ashamed to call themselves a sports fan.

Reds=Bengals=UC Basketball=UC Football=Losers who don't win championships

@BuckeyesNews
Multiple sources- including boosters- have told us that Luke Fickell to Cincinnati is "almost a done deal" & "just pending contract terms."

Will our jerseys say Cincinnati or Ohio State Jr? 😀

Does that really bother you? Dantonio was former OSU and I don't think any of us would be complaining if we could have turned back the clock and hired Herman instead of TT.

I hate OSU as much as the next guy but I don't see how hiring one of their coaches makes us OSU Jr. If you're going to poach coaches from a staff it's one of the best staffs in the country.

Jake could careless where he came from as long as he wins.

I'm just messing around. There's just a difference in the demand it seems. We're not just getting 1 OSU coach, but 2. And it doesn't seem like any other FBS schools are beating down the door to get either one. And they're both getting less responsibility by the year under Urban Meyer. It really is just a joke though.

I don't disagree with that, but that's Cincinnati for ya.

34? "HELL! I've got hemroids older than that!"

:D

Wasn't UC the Big East Champs just a couple of years ago? I seem to remember a 12-0 season and going to the Orange and Sugar Bowls? Was that just a figment of my imagination or did that actually happen? Maybe I'm getting old, but I don't think my memory is playing tricks on me yet.

Dude makes IS sound that if you don't win a national or world championship then you're just mediocre. And a loser.

Reality check.......there are 128 other D1 football schools. Many of them have deeper pockets and larger fan bases than UC. Perhaps you need to have lived somewhere else, sometime in your life, to comprehend this. Those other schools have scholarship players, too. UC isn't "entitled" to anything. They have to earn it, just like everyone else. They just have some obstacles that many other schools don't. I'm certainly not happy with where the team is right now, but I'm not going to have a cow if they aren't national title contenders, either. That's not being a "loser", it's being a realist. It's great to dream dreams, but you have to put in the work to make them come true, or they won't. UC took 3 steps forward, then took a step backwards. They will have to take another step forward just to get where they were.

Heard on the Mick Cronin radio show that Lance McAlister was reporting that Willie Cilunnungham, Mick Cronin, and Charlie Strong were golfing together in Cincinnati the other day. WHOOPS! None of them were even in the same state. Can't believe that guy has a following.

Houston just announced Major Applewhite as their HC. I'd take Lane Kiffin right now, just make the call Bohn.

Hell, if we're going defensive I'd take Todd Orlando in a heartbeat before I'd take Luke Fickell.

jake it isn't just sports reporting. The media in this country is more like a weapon then a source of information. The only thing that I find daily to be accurate is the score of last nights game.
