Coombs is an awful position coach with a loaded roster, he at least has to be a coordinator before I'd even consider him to be in the discussion for any D-1 head coaching position.

I think a guy like kerry combs is exactly what uc needs. Players love him and love to play hard for him, he'd also keep a lot of local talent

It's kind of hard to take you seriously when you say things like you think Kerry Combs is exactly what this team needs. Just like it's kind of hard to take NTS serious when he writes "Go Redhawks" in a reply to a game predictions thread. Like it's kind of hard to take this site seriously when you can post in threads about firing the football coach but get banned if you make a single negative comment about the basketball coach.

Carry on losers.

interesting. Cant take me serous for saying a local guy who was the associate head coach durning uc's golden BCS years and now is on the staff of the defending champs coaching under the best coach in college who i have heard say uc is his dream job would be a solid candidate? Never once said fire tubs, but its message board and tubbs is making over two million a year at a program who has recentlly been to bcs bowls...we had way more talent than miami and barley won, so yes he deserves criticism. I expect teams at uc to be ranked in top 25 year in and year out and if that doesnt happen we can voice our conern. im not giving up on this team yet and cant wait for wednsday but true football fans can understand the concerns surrounding tubbs with the way we have played this season. We have talent just want to see it work on the field

firing a coach sets the program back big time in recruitibg so im not saying fire him yet. but these next three games will show us a lot, can we turn this season into a good one? yes but itll will take fixing a lot of things from the coaching staff, can they do it? who knows, but if they cant it might be time to move on

I'm already on record saying Tuberville needs to have a big year this season or next or he's in trouble. If he doesn't pick it up he will and should get fired. If you really think that UC should then go out and hire Kerry Combs you're a complete moron. There's no use even getting into a back and forth with you.

Yeah we are not in a good situation. We either die a slow death with Tubbs or a quick one by firing him. Hopefully, Bohn is recruiting a new coach so we can make a quick move.

Whenever the firing/resigning does happen, and it will eventually happen, lets just pray we don't have an interim coach like the Huggs fiasco. That really is a killer.

As a outsider to your board and just a lurker for a while I hope it's ok to post and ask a few questions to you guys that most every Tennessee fan is wondering.

Was Butch Jones a awful in game coach for the Bearcats as he is for Tennessee?

I mean this guy can recruit like a animal but coaches on game day like a lamb.

Was he like this at Cincinnati?

Did you all ever get sick and dang tired of his silly a$$ motivational clichés?

Last question (hypothetical) would you take him back? Because if he doesn’t start winning at Tennessee he won't be there for long. He has the exact same record as Dooley did at this point of his coaching career.

I hope I didn't overstep and butt into but I'm telling you there are about 100,000 people wearing orange that would love to hear your opinions on Lyle.

I would gladly trade Tubbs for Butch. Yes, Butch made some questionable in game decisions. He was shaky at first but once he got his players some experience and they bought into his system, we excelled.

Butch really did work his butt off on the recruiting trail and his teams were pretty well disciplined.

Butch was no Brian Kelly or Dantonio but he is good. I think UT needs to give him a little time. He is rebuilding that program and it takes a few years. He is crushing it on the recruiting trail....

Yes. I agree with this.

Was Butch's best win against a 6-7 Vandy squad? Didn't he recruit 2 DE in three years?

Anyway he is not coming back and Tubs is around for 2 more years, UC is not paying him 2.4 mil to leave now. Time to move on IMO. The next three games are huge for this season and are all on Nat'l TV. The offense has been good, the stats don't lie, limit TO's and we are 3-0.

He's your problem now.

We only knew him here as Lyle the day he quit.

Good point sir! Hold on to the ball and we are 3-0. Big one tonight and I'm feeling good about it.

We were spoiled with BK and then Butch came in. I don't think anyone was as happy with Butch as they were with BK but you have to give the guy a ton of credit for what he was able to achieve here. BK left the cupboard pretty bare, Butch did a great job of recruiting and filling the pipeline back up. After a rough first season he turned it around pretty quick and got us back to conference championships. His motivational stuff does get pretty old pretty fast but if his team buys into it then fans shouldn't be concerned with it.

I think UT fans need to be extra patient with Butch. Butch played a certain style of ball here that isn't going to translate to the SEC. Just like BK when he left to head to ND, Butch is going to have to learn to adjust his brand of football. His teams will need to be tougher than they were here and he'll have to put a lot more emphasis on defense. I'd imagine you'll see some shake ups in his assistant coaching if this season doesn't go well.

Obviously it's not in your best interest to fire yet another HC and wait 3 more years for the next person to achieve results. I think Butch can and will win at UT, I don't think he's going to make UT football a powerhouse again like it was under Fulmer but I'm not sure there's many out there who could.

I appreciate all the feedback. You guys have a great board here for sure. Good luck tonight with the kittens, a lot of Tennessee fans will be rooting for the Bearcats tonight. The instate rival is more in basketball for us but none the less we don’t lose any sleep when Memphis looses.

Back to Lyle, nobody wants to see him fired. We are all hoping he succeeds, it’s in the best interest for everyone if he wins here. As mentioned UT doesn’t need to be in the market for another coach.

I think Butch is somewhat still learning on the job so to speak. Surprisingly his defense has been very good, it’s just that awful, predictable offense that he seems so stubborn about. It’s almost like he trusts the system more than he has a actual gut feeling on how to coach the game.

We have a 240lb 5* tailback and Butch takes him out on the 1 inch line on third down on the goal line. He replaces him with a 180 lb back because in Lyle’s words “that was the rotation we were in at the time.” We get stuffed and he kicks a field goal.

The WR’s can’t ever get a feel for the game because they rotate in and out every play, again “the system”. I’m not sure why any highly recruited WR would want to come to Tennessee, we don’t throw it farther than 8 yards and typically a bubble screen.

I do think UT probably sees some staff changes on the offense side of the ball. I hope we don’t lose anyone in regards to the defensive staff. They have been the one bright spot on the coaching staff.

Again, everybody wants him to succeed here. But he is probably the most stubborn coach I have ever seen.

I will go back to my lurking, again good luck tonight and Go Bearcats beat Memphis!

I think Butch understands what an ideal SEC should look like. He's done a good job with the offensive and defensive line in recruiting. I like Dobbs, I would like to see him have a little more freedom in a downfield passing game.

Butch has botched this game in every which way. One of the worst coaching jobs I’ve ever seen.

Mini-column: Chart-consulting, cliche-spewing Butch Jones looks like another Tennessee coach addicted to losing http://usat.ly/1KCEPuQ

Time to fix the chart, Butch. Or just use your brain.

Matt Slovin @MattSlovin Jones on XP: We have a chart that's pretty standard in football.

It's getting very tense down here in Butchville this Monday morning. rumors coming out that he had a physical dispute with a player and later coach Azzani.

We need Butch to be the right guy very badly or I fear UT continues into another Decade of dispair. My gut feels about 80% sure he isn't the guy.
