NY Post says WVU to big 12.

RIP Big East Football.....it's over fellas. The Big East is dead for football. If we were going to expand it would have already happened. The only question now is who gets invited to the big boy conferences and who gets left behind in some sort of CUSA, Mountain West, Big East mashup?

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!

In all seriousness, I blame the conference commissioner. There has been plenty of time to invite teams and get commitments from the various schools still in the Big East. Marianotto (sp? too lazy to look it up since he is too lazy to get anything done) has done a great job of killing this conference. Wonder if he is being paid under the table by ESPN?

If it is indeed WVU to the Big 12 I feel sorry for both the Big 12 and WVU.

The Big East will be expanding, Houston or UCF will probably be the first school to join the expanded Big East. Houston will probably finish 13-0 this season and be rewarded with a Liberty Bowl appearance as Boise will likely get the 1 spot available for non AQ conferences.

Even if thats true- its hard to take his word on things when he completely makes things up (he has been caught twice in the past week or two) That is an easy way to lose credibility. If he just made something up that wasn't a big deal that wouldn't be bad...but saying things like "UC rejected a Big 12 offer" in the middle of a conference thread discussing what UC might be doing is just ridiculous and uncalled for. Imagine if everyone just made things up, this board would be useless.

Caught? At what? In your mind only! If DeCourcy says South Florida is the new Big 12 candidate, mentions WVU and Louisville in the article, makes no mention of UC in the article, then logic dictates that South Florida must be ahead of UC in the pecking order Mr. Spock.

I am getting nervous.

I would place my desires at Big East #1, ACC #2, Big XII # 3, C-USA #4, B1G #5, SEC# 6, Pac 25 # 7

Obviously, I am not saying we have those options it may come down to Beast or C-USA. I am simply saying those are my preferences.

It is not Marianotto's fault. The Big East has been working on expansion for a long time. Paul Taglibue advised the Big East to reject the $1.4 billion 9 year ESPN contract along with Pitt's president, expecting NBC/Comcast to up the anti. How could Marianotto have for seen ESPN would give each ACC school $5 million to add Pitt and Syracuse?

I am not blaming him for turning down ESPN's deal. I am blaming him for his lack of leadership during this time of conference realignment and uncertainty. I am not the only one questioning his leadership. The current universities in the conference have questioned it as well. It is not good leadership to sit back, see what other conferences are going to do and then react. I could do that. He needed to be thinking outside the box and doing things to make schools want to join and stay in the league.

NY Times has UL, UC, Boise and BYU as next 4 should Big 12 go to 16 teams. Guess UC jumped USF in pecking order again.

And why would UC even be mentioned since, according to you and no one else, UC already turned down a Big 12 invite?

The Big 12 is not going to expand to 16 teams. Why would anyone want to go to the Big 12 when Texas, OU, OKST and Texas Tech want out? UC is NOT considering a move to the Big 12. They are committed to the Big East along with Louisville. We have MSG for our championship in basketball. UC has already decided at the highest levels not to go to the Big 12.

(my best Ralph impression)

Interesting that they would choose to offer a school that is furthest out of their footprint as their first choice. It makes sense for B12 to go to 12 teams at some point and UC and UL would seem to be the logical 2 to be added to make an eastern division with KU, KSU, and ISU. In Kock's interview with Whit Babcock yesterday, he indicates that UC would undoubtedly be able to compete in the B12 and it would be an immediate infusion of 7-8 million per year in the athletic dept coffers. Sound like a scenerio that Prseident Williams would be completely against, according to Ralph. Then again he posted yesterday that WVU is on no one's list. Sounds like Ralph is on the pluse of the realignment process. Unfortunately for him, his beloved BE may have no pulse.

Looks like Boise and Air Force are pushing for BYU to be invited to Big East. Looking at those three, SMU, Houston, UCF, Navy and Temple as your early favorites to join the league. ECU still possible as well. If BYU joins, looking at divisions like this for football:

West:
Boise
BYU
AF
Houston
SMU
UL

East:
UCONN
Rutgers
UC
USF
UCF
Navy

OR

North:
UL
UC
Boise
UCONN
Rutgers
AF

South:
USF
UCF
Houston
SMU
Navy
BYU

:D

The funniest thing about this was that I couldn't see your name and seriously thought it was Ralph until the last part. Well played.

A GOOD RUMOR, if WVU does go to the Big 12 Bob Huggins is going to resign and go after the next Big East opening because 1) he would miss his biannual welcoming of the King at 5/3rd Arena and 2) he has no intention of ever setting foot in Manhattan, KS.

Why would WVU go to the B12? They see the benefit of the BE and MSG. They are on no ones list. Like UC they have rejected the B12 at the highest level. How many times will they have to say they are committed to the BE before everyone will finally believe them?

The only thing that is a postive about WVU leaving is your idiotic comments about Huggins will hopefully stop as he will not be coming back to UC. Maybe you can change your mancrush to Matt Doherty and SMU.

WVU to the Big 12 is official, the presser is tomorrow. Hopefully Cincinnati and Louisville are to follow in the coming years.
