For those of you saying we aren't limping into the tournament, I ask you to reflect on our play the last several weeks. It certainly hasnt been the best ball we have played all year. We peaked against X and have been looking worse since that game. Sorry if you cant get your eyes off this message board for long enough to watch the games and notice that!

Jesus Christ, man. Our AdjO, and overall KenPom, had actually climbed a few spots from the shootout to yesterday. Did you notice that, or were your eyes too glued to the message board?

It just sounds like you're freaking out over yesterday's loss. I get that it's frustrating, but I think you're misinterpreting our last few weeks simply because of an L yesterday. 4-1 in the last 5 games (and the one loss being against a top 15 team) should never be called "limping" into the tournament. Especially when that adjective is generally used when there are injuries, which we have none.

The more I think about your post, the more I laugh. Why did you put words in his mouth. If he wants wins is this excused by a longing for the past. Could it be that he doesn't like losing. He doesn't like the lack of respect that comes UCs inability to win a mediocre conference.

I saw OSCAR and JUCKER. I also saw Yates. It wasn't that I wanted to go back, it was that I knew that UC can win big. Just like I want to see them do it now.

Thinking is harder than reading. How can you trivialize such a horrible time as the Jim Crow era with basketball. How can you think so less to all who suffered under it. Something is very wrong with you. Were you actually seeking to show how intelligent you are by showing us you knew about Jim Crow. Well jump Jim Crow. You at least impressed one reader. Don't insult others with your lack of understanding. Give us a break.
I am going to try and explain again because I obviously offended you. If you think I'm trivializing tbe Jim Crow era, I ask you to re-read what I said. I didn't compare it to basketball and you acting like I did is just false.

Re-read my inital post. I did not compare his thoughts on UC basketball to Jim Crow. If you truly believe that, what are we even talking about. Just block me and don't respond to me again.

I did compare that often times people like to romanticize the past. A common era that gets romanticized in the US is the 50's that had a lot of horrible awful stuff (too much to discuss here) and an era that wasn't nearly as good as many people choose to remember.

That comparison is of a type of thought process and reasoning, not comparing the actual events. If you don't see a difference, then block me.

Positives:
We are still a 6 seed. That is highest seed in 3 years.
29-5. One of the best seasons we have ever had.
Foul shooting has been a big positive
Friday night game at 7:30 really is a perfect time to play.
The play in game is on a Tuesday, yes.. But that's still a quick turn around to play again and have to fly out to the west coast too.

I kind of want to play Kansas State for this reason. Fly to Dayton for the play-in game, lose an hour, fly back home, gain an hour, fly to Sacramento, gain two more hours....sounds like quite a nuisance for them.

all very good points.

while losing Sunday was a disappointment I will add SMU is a very good team.

Regardless how you look at it we still have another game ahead of us. K St/WF will not be a cake walk. To at least get a shot at UCLA we need to win that one. Hope the guys see it that way and come out focused.

looking at both of their Wins v. Losses I would much rather play Kansas State but I have a feeling it will be Wake Forest. Then again, I know nothing about these two teams

SMU won the league and the conference tourney. They beat us twice. They also got a 6 seed. Our conference sucks and the only way to change that is for us and SMU to win some games. Long range goal is to get out of this conference. Its only going to get worse.

UConn won the f&%#ing title in 2014 and it didn't help the perception of the conference one bit.

I'm going to sound like a crazy conspiracist here, but I do think there is financial motive out there to have the AAC under-appreciated. ESPN barely has to pay us any money, and we still provide quality athletics (at the top of the conference). They want us to be pretty good, but not TOO good, because then our conference will either demand more money, or the best schools will bolt for better conferences.

They have the AAC right where they want us.

can refute your theory. its all about the green

It's no coincidence ESPN and CBS went on a damage control tour the moment after Mick opened his mouth about seeding/$$$ relations. Obviously onto something there...

Looking ahead to a potential second round match up the least amount of points that UCLA has scored in any game this season is 74. Gotta score to win in March.

Right, but UC would be the 2nd best defense they've faced all year. They also often give up 70+ points, including 87 to a school called Cal St. Northridge at home.

Not saying I love our chances, but I would be surprised if we just got waxed. Could be a pretty good game.

I agree. I think we score 70-80 easy on them. Doesn't mean we win but they are not a team that worries about locking you down. They worry about scoring and they are great at it. this looks like one of the worst matchups Uc could have got but if we want to get to that next level you have to beat teams like this in the tourney. It's not easy

I think we are kinda a poor mans Arizona, which gave them trouble. I would at least like the chance to play them

Solid transition d would be critical vs them. If we get past kst/WF, I actually kinda like our chances in comparison to the national perception. UCLA plays such an up tempo style that I think it would help our offense. I really think we would score between 1.1 and 1.25 points per possession on them. Problem is UCLA can win even giving up that kind of offensive efficiency, but I think we have a defense capable of holding them below 1.1, which should be enough for a win.

I hope I'm wrong but it seems like our defense is never quite good enough to shut down the elite offenses in the tourney and our offense is never good enough to keep up. So I could see us losing this like 82-76 or something. I hope I'm wrong though.

This Bearcat team is good. I know everyone hopes for "good draw" to aid in getting to the E8 and F4, but it's supposed to hard. They are better than both Wake Forest and K-State. It won't be an easy game, but they should win. If not, they either didn't shot the ball well or aren't as good as I think they are. And even if they don't shoot the ball well against either of those teams, they can still win.

UCLA presents a challenge, but a good one. They kinda think about playing D, but that's about it. Their offense is through the roof, but the Cats D is not something they see everyday. It won't be easy, but it's doable. I guarantee they'll be looking past the Bearcats. A potential match up with UK and UNC are all they're thinking about.
