Many on this board have said we better reach the Sweet 16 or this season is a huge disappointment and failure. I am one of those folks. I think this board and its members will find out soon enough that we have had another season of the same: A Cronin-coached team, limping into the NCAA tournament, with gaping holes still on the offensive end of the floor. Someone can prepare a giant plate of crow for me if I am wrong. But, I'm already going to call this season a HUGE disappointment.

1. "Many" have not said the season is a huge disappointment w/o a SW16. "Some" did, and there's a large gap between some and many. There's also a massive difference between being disappointed as a fan and a disappointing season.

2.Limping into the tournament??? Narrative street is fun when you can just make things up to fit whatever story you want to tell. The facts remain this is the best offensive team in the Cronin era and is still a top tier defensive team.

3. Man you're way out on a limb with that hot take when we are only about 30% to make the SW16.

We got a shitty draw playing a top 30 kpom team in Rd 1 (compare it to the other 11's and is a joke). Add in that the play in game is being played ON TUESDAY instead of Wednesday for the first time ever when it's in a Friday pod and we don't even get the schedule advantage that you are supposed to get

Lastly, posts like yours are just flat out disingenuous. If you actually looked at the reality of the situation I don't see how a reasonable rational person could draw the conclusions that you've drawn.

A part of me almost gets it though. You want things to go back to the good old days (which while better, those days probably weren't as good as you remember). That parts not entirely your fault. It's human nature to remember the past fondly. Just look at the political realm where people romanticize a past in the middle of the Jim Crow era.

You're also creating a free roll with your post. Be wrong, and YAAAY hooray they won, wooooooo. Be right, and you're gonna be popping off on here all the time.

I've watched both KSU and Wake a handful of times this year...

K-State usually wins games when the dictate tempo and turn you over. Reminds me of past UC teams (last 5-6 years) that try to out ugly you for a win. Should we play them, it could resemble the UCF games minus the huge 7'6 accident patrolling the paint.

Wake Forest does not play defense for shit because they love to get out and run. Collins is a man in the paint and if we don't defend him, he will get 30 as he takes nearly all the shots it seems (something like 60% OF their shots). They have a couple shooters too.

I think we will play Wake, but it doesn't matter to me.

My take is that IF we play ball, we will beat either team hopefully setting up a game with UCLA. We absolutely cannot be the team we saw @ UCF and the last two against SMU.

I have faith that we can get to the sweet 16 at least. It wont be easy, but when has UC ever had it that way?

I have a feeling that the results of the game today did nothing to influence seeding or region. They knew where they wanted us.

There is only one way to get respect again. Beat UCLA on the court if we play them. Then go deep in the tourney . The cats got respect after Yates when they went to the final four. That is how you get it. It is time for MC to prove that this is his best team. He is already walking back from that by saying ; well not the best defensive team. Go out and win. That will get you respect every time.

Absolutely the best post I have ever read on this site. Your use of the Jim Crow era is outstanding. Watched a movie on Turner Movie Classics recently, Spartacus with Kirk Douglass. Walked out of the movie which I saw in Norwood and everyone was so disappointed that Spartacus who led the slave revolt was killed in the end and the revolt crushed. This was in 1960. Before E. Till was lynched in Mississippi and before the civil rights bill was signed. People see things as they chose with little regard to the facts.

If you ever go to a game I would like to buy you a soft drink of your choice. Absolutely a great post.

You must be joking. Have you ever debated. He used an old trick. He took something horrible (JIm Crow - look up Daddy Rice for its orgin) and said it was equal to his thoughts to gain support. A simple fallacy. Just have the cats go out and win and everything will be fine. Pitiful

Sorry for getting a bot off topic in my last post.

While we have a tough draw nothing is impossible. Lets get the first game and then worry about UCLA.

Thanks. I don't get to go to as many as I'd like anymore, but I normally make it down to a handful every year.

I'll be on this site more this week than normal too, because I'm off work and scrolling the internet at odd times while sleep deprived. Bright side is I'm very lucky to have found a way to have our second son be born on 3/8 and will be off work through the 20th perfectly timed with March Madness.

Yea that's EXACTLY what I said. EXACTLY. Reading comprehension is hard.

Congrats on the birth of your son and enjoy the time off. If you get to town for a game send me a PM and I will certainly buy you a drink.

I know it's one game at a time. But should we make it to the second round it worries me even more that it would basically be a home game for UCLA. Also, we struggle most in the tourney with high scoring teams. But I guess if we want to get anywhere we have to win these kind of games at some point.

Having lived in California I can tell you that UCLA and Sacramento are in the same time zone but I hesitate to say it is a home game.

Yeah I guess I didn't really mean home game, but if the UCLA contingent travels well it will probably feel like a home game for them.

No problem. Used to play a lot of softball out there. Been up and down the state and just found it funny to see someone refer to it as a home game. The people who live there would strongly disagree with that comment.

Your long winded narrative makes some valid points. However, I'll be short in my response. I do NOT dwell in the good ol' days. I simply have expectations and want consistent improvement. The last best experience/result should be the new standard moving forward. If this truly is the BEST Mick Cronin team of all time, then win the AAC regular season. Win the AAC tournament. Get to the Sweet 16 in March. We have whiffed on 2 of those 3 and the trend isnt upward.

For those of you saying we aren't limping into the tournament, I ask you to reflect on our play the last several weeks. It certainly hasnt been the best ball we have played all year. We peaked against X and have been looking worse since that game. Sorry if you cant get your eyes off this message board for long enough to watch the games and notice that!

Although I don't disagree with this, why don't we wait to see what happens in the tourney and then have this conversation?

Yea on Google maps it's over a 5 hour drive, and I'm not sure how much that weights lovely Cali. traffic.

I also think UCLA has had problems with attendance at their home games, so maybe a a trip to the wonderful town of Sacramento won't appeal to them.

The other teams in Sacramento are listed below. I'd imagine most neutral fans would probably be rooting for UC over UCLA, given most crowds cheer for the dog.

Oregon
Iona
Rhode Island
Creighton
Kst/Wak
Kent St

The more I think about your post, the more I laugh. Why did you put words in his mouth. If he wants wins is this excused by a longing for the past. Could it be that he doesn't like losing. He doesn't like the lack of respect that comes UCs inability to win a mediocre conference.

I saw OSCAR and JUCKER. I also saw Yates. It wasn't that I wanted to go back, it was that I knew that UC can win big. Just like I want to see them do it now.

Thinking is harder than reading. How can you trivialize such a horrible time as the Jim Crow era with basketball. How can you think so less to all who suffered under it. Something is very wrong with you. Were you actually seeking to show how intelligent you are by showing us you knew about Jim Crow. Well jump Jim Crow. You at least impressed one reader. Don't insult others with your lack of understanding. Give us a break.

That's good to hear. I just assumed it was like in NYC. I used to go to games at MSG and the fans who have no allegiance to either team tend to gravitate towards the hype. I know there's a lot of hype with Lonzo Ball, so assumed it would be the same

It is a long drive. once out of LA traffic will not be a big problem.

I never said in this thread it was his best team ever, although it's in the mix and debatable. I did say it was his best offense. Reading is hard when someone posts more than 140 characters.

Let me ask this to be sure. If a team won the league with a 15-3 record but lost in Rd 1 that you'd be ok with that?

Because that's SK's senior year, which based off what you've said I doubt you'd consider a successful season.
