Like to be honest.

You guys should be hoping for the top 5 seed vs the last 4 seed.

I mean ego wants us to get the highest seed. But our logical selfs should be hoping we get to avoid the west coast. Because no matter what we would play a 4 or 5 seed in the tourney no matter what.

Also the 6 seed isn't even that bad.

Our highest ceiling is the worst possible spot for us.

Gimme the 4.

Guys....

IM NOT THE ONE VALUEING top 50 wins.

The committee released its top 16 seeds. That showed us what they valued and what they don't.
- gonzaga was the 4th 1 seed and was undefeated at the time. Proved they don't care you didn't lose and care about who you beat.

-UC was left off the list even though we were 11th in the country and like 14th in RPI. They picked teams ranked behind us because they had top 50 wins.

-Wisconsin and Purdue were also left off because the same things.

I am in no way making these predictions because of my own measure. I'm basing it on the precedent that the committee already set.

I want a 4 seed but not the last 4 seed on the west coast.

In my eyes committee is seeding based off of:
1. Top 50 wins
2. RPI
3. Advanced metrics
4. Bad losses

Maybe they change the entire thing this Sunday but based on the precedent they Set earlier this year, I'm sticking with top 50 wins over everything else.

Nobody is blaming you on the selection process. I was just curious when you said our top 50 wins are not subjective. That entire component (potentially one of their largest selection components) is based on an arbitrary number.

It's hard for me to call the results of an arbitrary decision objective. I blame the committee for that...not you. In today's age...this process is absolutely lazy and outdated. They have recognized it...but it took to long considering you are supposed to have smart objective people on the committee.

This arbitrary top 50 thing has been pointed out to them on many occasions I'm sure. It's like they just figured out the Earth wasn't flat just last year. Come on committee!

I'm okay with the 5 seed. I certainly don't want to get shafted at the 4 on both matchup and venue location. I want our fans to be able to drive to the game but there is also no guarantee at the 5 seed.

Calling it now. We get a 5 or 6, and we play Wichita in the first round.

The committees way of thanking Mick for pointing out the seeding is adjusted for maximum $$.

Also does anyone else think it is weird that Top 50 wins is the new metric the committee praises?

It seems like this specifically helps mediocre teams in the Big 10 and ACC get invites that would have went to smaller conferences in the past. I know RPI isn't perfect, but there are resources like Kenpom out there.

And next year they will use them more or so they say.

Everyone needs to hoping Michigan pulls this out in OT.

Just curious if we get a 4/5 and so does Butler is there any rule that we can't play them since we played them in the regular season?

I can't remember the exact rules but I think they try to avoid it if they can but because it was early season and its 2nd round, it may not matter. Can't remember the specifics though

Just realized something.

The only first 2 round matchups on the west coast are in Sacramento. And they are in the south Region and the west region.

If we are 4/5 seed our options of locations are: Orlando, Buffalo, & Milwaukee (they host west and mid west 4/5 seed games)

I hadn't actually checked this before. So to be honest, I'll take whatever seed they give us if its a 4 seed.

Because if we have to play in San Jose, it means we went to the sweet 16.

There ya go. Welcome to team 4 seed!

I didn't think the first round locations are tied to regions? It depends on where the highest seed teams in the first round location will be.

Like with Gonzaga, UCLA, Oregon, and Arizona all going to get a 4 seed or higher. Gonzaga and Pac 12 winner would be in Sacremento and the other two Pac 12 teams would be in Salt Lake City. Gonzaga still gets the West region, and so does the PAC 12 champ. And the other two would probably be in the South or Midwest.
