Nd to the acc

p.s. I simply hate Notre Dame. They barely play any Big East schools and then they commit themselves to play 5 ACC schools a year. Give me a break.

This is on top of the Brian Kelly debacle and several other years of douche-baggery.

ND is basically a more prominent Xavier in my book. Screw 'em.

I hope the new commissioner have some new monster tv deal in the works cause the big east is done. uc can't afford that 5 million buy out either

UC can afford any buyout deal that the BoT authorizes. IMO they would authorize 5 mil to go to the ACC (unlikely) or Big 12.

UC does not add value to either the Big 12 or ACC, do not hold your breath awaiting an invite to either.

We lost a great name brand, who had a lot of pull at the table and a built in cult audience. To ensure that we will still be able to land a top notch television deal, our course of action is clear folks; we need to get down, hand and knee and really lick the boot of BYU.

If we land the coug...are they cougars? I think... then we will have yet another reputable name, with a fanbase in the millions. In addition to recognition, it will strengthen the western division of this conference. Which, will get our conference champion the bowl tie in with the Orange(imo). Since Notre Dame will likely take a good number* of the ACC's auto bids to the Orange Bowl, we have but one chance to remain a BCS conference. This is the only positive outcome that can happen now.

Going to be awfully tough to move when Nippert holds 36,000 give or take.

It's really a shame. We're playing such good football lately and would likely be at the top of the ACC, and probably even the middle of the Big 10 and Big 12.

Our limited football revenue just kills us.

I really don't think Nippert is the problem.

The only upside in all of this craziness for UC is that the TV money has gotten so ridiculous that ticket sales are now a very tiny drop in a very large bucket. IF they think we can deliver more TV money (debatable either way) nobody cares about attendance anymore IMO.

We just played a home game against Oklahoma who has 1 the 2 biggest fan bases in the B12 and accommodated their fans fine. Besides Texas, who else even cares about the stadium size? You think Baylor or Iowa St is going to be angry their fans can't get a ticket?

Partially correct. The big 12 is running out of options. If they really want to get to 12, then the choices are really the big east teams and/or Byu since the acc teams are out

Byu has had talks with the b12 in the past and they've been standoffish particularly over Sunday game conflicts in other sports. I find it hard to believe they'll agree to terms all of the sudden. uc/ul need to stick together in this

Well put. And I guess that's what confuses me. With Cincinnati's market, I wonder why there's been no invite. There's obviously plenty I don't know about the situation but if the big 12 added West Virginia, Louisville, and us, those are 3 solid markets with rivalries and close proximities in the east. Seems like the logical move to me, but then again I am biased and do not know what goes on behind closed doors.

Unfortunately, UC is not even a gleam in the eye of Big 12 expansion plans.

UC's only viable option is to rally the remaining troops in the Big East and perhaps add an Air Force or BYU.

I read in the Enquirer this morning that former President Williams has been retained by UC as a consultant to assist with Big East matters.

Couldn't disagree more. We open a new state and territory to the Big 12 for recruiting and television purposes. Don't forget that Cincinnati is a top 30 TV market in the country. Assuming there is interest in Louisville the Big 12 can have streamlined travel with L'Ville, UC and WVU all in the league. There are several other reasons such as endowment money, top ranked medical research and design programs and a large corporate base in the City of Cincinnati.

I do believe that UC would need to have a solid plan in place for renovation of Nippert or a permanent move to PBS if they really want into the Big 12. Not because the stadium only holds 36k (the league doesn't give a shit how many tickets you sell, they don't get any portion of your revenue for ticket sales) but because our current setup lacks luxury boxes. You'd want to be able to tell the new league that you either have luxury boxes or that a plan is in place to get them. If you can lure in some of the larger corporations with luxury boxes then it gives the Big 12 new targets for advertisement and sponsorship dollars.

I have no figures to support this but my sense is we just don't have the TV draw (or stadium draw) to merit Big 12 or ACC participation. I know people are lumping us in with WVU or Louisville, but I tihnk we are below them on both of these fronts. Lousville's stadium is bigger and I believe has a bigger football following. Hell, they have radio hours dedicated to Louisville in the Cincinnati market.

WVU is THE football school in the state. They aren't subject to being in a city where Ohio State, Louisville, Lexington, Indiana, Notre Dame, and even Michigan take away from the fan base.

I would love it if we got into the Big 12. I'm mad at the ACC but if that happened to, I'd take it. But I just don't see it. I would love to be wrong on this one.

I would love either. I would take the ACC over the Big 12 all day since it would be a very winnable league each year in football and the best bball league.

That said, I don't see that happening. I believe the Big 12 is our only hope, and looks like a longshot.

ESPN and Fox already did the study. They told the Big 12 that the only school that would add value to the Big 12 is Notre Dame. Thus, the Big 12 is not expanding anytime soon. $200 million a year in TV money splits nicely 10 ways, no reason for the current 10 schools to add schools to split $200 million 12 ways. ESPN and Fox in the study told the Big 12 that adding a Conference Championship Game would add $0 to the contract, therefore, the Big 12 is very happy being the Big 12 minus 2.

Incorrect. A big 12 championship game would bring substantially more money

You are the incorrect one. Fox and ESPN told the Big 12 a CCG would not add any additional revenue to the contract. It is Fox and ESPN who are paying the contract.

Not to defend BM too much because he's an idiot, but ESPN is behind the scenes actively trying to weaken the Big East. Some are suggesting that they are talking to the Big 12 right now directly and telling them to pick 2 teams from the Big East

You can see everything in ESPN's coverage. They slurp the ACC and knock the Big East. Van Pelt at halftime of Rutgers vs. USF basically just made fun of them game. Ass bags.

Probably because this game has been absolutely pathetic and an embarrassment to the Big East.

Ralph is 100% correct on this. UC would not add any value to The Big 12 TV contract. The Big 12 does not want a championship game, too much danger of being left out of the playoff. They will stay at 10, they are much happier splitting their big tv contract 10 ways instead of 12.

Ralph is most certainly not correct. The big 12 can split up less money Between 10 teams or substantially more money between 12. Also for their blockbuster sec big 12 bowl game, it states the big 12 must have a ccg. Which do you think they will ultimately choose?
