No way Clark is playing SF this year. He doesnt shoot well enough. Plus we have Shaq, Sanders, and Morman. If Clark was SF then it would be him, Ellis, and DeBerry/Moore/Strickland all on the floor? No way. We have 7 guys for the 1, 2, and 3 spots. No reason to force Clark to the 3. If anything, guys like Shaq and Sanders will be the "4" at times with one of the C.

based off what?[/QUOTE

Agreed, Clark was in high school last year and he plays a different position than Shaq. As to Clark playing the 3, I look at JJ and see three wasted years watching him try to play small forward, shooting 3's. Going just on his game highlights, Clark seems much more like a post player with some range and not a slasher/small forward type.

I guess the better question is with Lawrence leaving who starts at the 4? Ellis?

I dont think anyone has seen enough of clark to to say he cant shoot -he gets to the rim so easily why would he shoot jumpshots -the kid handles well and is super aggressive and finishes strong with either hand

what about defense?

big questionmark there as well as can he not commit stupid fouls like so many of our players but I really believe he will rebound his position and not be afraid of contact

as far as where I come from -I've been around the game most of my life playing all over the city in leagues /played the gus macker circuit/ coached my son in school and junior-pro so anyway about clark just my opinion I could be wrong I have been before but I've been right too

The roster always shortens once conference play hits. 8 man rotation is likely with maybe a guy getting spot minutes, happens every year with mick. He'll play the guys he trusts, and I doubt he'll trust 12. My guess now would be Deberry, Ellis, clark, shaq, Sanders, kj, guyn, caupain.
That said I have no idea who will step up, and how all the piece will fit.

You're right on about Mick shortening the bench once conference play starts. I was hoping that a possible benefit of being in the AAC would be that he wouldn't have to that as much. When possible, and if it's earned, it would be nice to get the young guys in there for their overall development and to be ready to contribute in the tourney if needed. Mick alluded to JL being that guy last season but injury kind of derailed that possibility.

I'm pretty confident moore will redshirt. Kevin johnson will be young but given the opportunity to be a big scorer on this team, his devolvement this offseason will be crucial.
Starters IMO -------- 1st subs
Caupain. --------- Guyn
Kj. ---------- Cobb
Shaq. ----------- Morman
Sanders/Ellis
Deberry. ---------- Strickland/ Ellis

Could u imagine the lineup of tc, kj, morman, shaq, and Ellis full court pressing. Mick has options this year no spot will be given, it will be fun we got talent

IMO Moore will redshirt to.

Caupain-Guyn
Cobb-Johnson
Thomas-Morman
Sanders-Ellis
Deberry-Strickland

You dont show any love for clark either? Personally, my take, if sanders starts we are in trouble

Yes I do not love sanders either but he will have the leg up at the start, mick loves seniors and always seemed to like sanders (playing more than I thought he ever deserved). I hope others (Ellis, maybe shaq gets big and can slide down to 4 or clark comes in ready) step up as I do not think sanders can contribute enough to be a starter. Right now the biggest question mark is at the 4, I really like Ellis and hope he can start as I think he can contribute greatly. I'm very high on Ellis but he will have to earn that spot I think he is up to the challenge

I like Cobb as well, that will be an interesting competition to watch. Would not be mad either way with those two, I love cobbs shot and looks like a smart smooth player, but whoever wins that will have a good season. I can't wait to see these new guys at deveroes. I also hope Ellis starts over sanders but will have to earn it

I do have love for him, he will be in the mix at the four with Ellis and sanders and could see brief time at the three. I'm not banking on him averaging double figures tho I don't like to expect to much out of our freshman. But I think he's a great player and if he works hard will see some time

from watching film Ellis fits best at the 5.

5 pts 4 rebs is my hope for Clark this year. Nothing crazy, but a contributor for sure.
Edit- All minutes for Clark at the 4 too
