There's been plenty of Mick/team bashing, so I thought I'd start a thread where we talk about the positives of the team.

I'm encouraged by Thomas. I think he'll be a nice player next year. If Gates improves, this can be a solid front line.

I saw Cash do some nice things last nite. He and Vaugn took it inside several times, although most of it occured when the game was not in doubt.

I think Toyloy has long since stopped becoming a liability on offense. In fact, I like the way he attacks the rim.

Bishop looked good several times when they had him around the FT line.

Thomas is getting much better IMO. Sure he had a rough game last night but we needed his size and athleticism inside.

Cash needs to play more, period! He does need to work on driving and dishing instead of taking an ill-advised layup.

Toyloy is playing like a beast right now on defense and offense (boards) and deserves the playing time IMO. Now thats about 15 min a game for me.

Deonta always seems to do this. He will disappear all game then somehow at the end when it doesnt matter make it to his average. I just wish the guy had the balls to take over the game when we actually need him.

Sorry if everything wasnt positive but this team can still make the dance!

We are still alive for the tournament which is the goal.

We need to play better but we have some solid and good wins this year and very few bad losses.

Our help and recover defense is second to none. We really make teams make long shots verse us.

The season is almost over. :D

Just kidding, I think there are plenty of positives about this team. Most of which have been listed already.

Cash had a nifty spin move that got past defenders after long rebounds. It showed me a little bit of that quickness and confidence that we were supposed to see from him. But, as you said, the game was over at that point, and he was playing carefree.

That is how we need all of our players to play. Go out and make plays. Be unselfish, but force the issue.

That is IMO the main issue. It's not that Mick doesn't have a good offensive gameplan, and not that he doesn't know x's and o's...it's that he is making the players play too tight by restricting them to said gameplan.

Not sure I buy this, but interesting theory non the less.

I give Mick credit for the way the team played in Maui. Fast, uptempo, we really showed our athleticism against Maryland, Vandy, and the Zags. But since then, not sure where it went.

Was he forced to though? I thought I remember watching the other teams seemed to be pressing a lot, which caused UC to go fast tempo.

Thats the dissipointing thing about this season. Seemed like we not only had a chance at making the tournament, but being a top 4/5 seed after the maui. If anything-that showed me we have the talent to play really well at least.

I thinik that point is being way overlooked. It is not just this year even. Seems like the past couple years we have started out well. Much more evident this year. Therefore the players have shown they are capable of playing.

That is where the question is raised....What is going on? If they are worn out which I suggested when first started posting and Rashad even recently suggested...which by the way I was attacked for saying then does that not fall on Mick??. I know ultimately the players have to be accountable too but again when it becomes a team problem that should also be the coaches problem.

Maryland pressed most of the game, and Vady did at times I cant remember if Gonzaga did, but either way, I was able to see how much more athletic we were than the other teams there, it reminded me of the Huggins days. But look at what happened to us when Xavier and St. Johns pressed us at the end of the games, we kept turning the ball over which allowed both of those teams to come back and win.

I like the play of Bishop this year. He is one of the few that has improved. Lance has some real upside. It would be great to see him stay atleast 3 years. I would put Hicks on staff(dream) and let him kick some ass!

Lance is no where near ready. Only way he goes pro is if he catches fire and leads this team to the NCAA tourney and plays well there.

I've seen improvement in many of the players. Some have not improved as steadily as others, but for anyone to say that "no one has improved," is ridiculous.

Our defense has been solid. Our offense has been anemic. Better late than never, so hopefully the offense can muster 70 points/game. That gives us a chance.

UC's D hasn't been bad, but they leave shooters open way too much, not to mention allow interior passing too much. It's the offense that is killing them, though.
