Not to look past our next game but clearly we need a better strategy against X coming up than we have in the past especially since they are playing well. The number one thing I think Cronin needs to get through is controlling emotions vs the other players and the crowd. I don't want to see KJ jawing with the other bench if he makes a 3. I don't want to see Ellis throwing fits with refs or players. #2 is FOCUS!! I just want to see all out effort and focus and if that is not enough so be it. However, if we are focused and giving our all we can, and will, beat them on their court. It would be a great trade for the Butler loss to hand it to a good X team.

Disagree. They have turnovers because they are awful with the ball, not because they are asked to handle it too much. They aren't asked to dribble anywhere or do anything with the ball besides catch it in the post. Ellis kept trying to dribble through 3 guys vs Butler. You have to pass him the ball where he was catching it, but he can't do crap like that.

How many times do they both travel while attempting post moves? If bigs can't handle that, it's on them. We don't use them to beat the press or anything.

Clark and DeBerry have good post moves. Clark has a signature back down fake left and go right hand layup and DeBerry has an un-guardable right hook. Ellis gets confused when he gets the ball because he is indecisive and doesn't have a go to. He needs to catch the ball and make one move right away and just go. If it doesn't work so be it...but the longer he holds the ball the more things go wrong. The other option for Ellis (perhaps the best one) is to face up and shoot from slightly farther out.

Clark has had a couple back to the basket travels the past couple games. I was surprised to see that from him.

Maybe it's on them then, but I do think that's what is happening. We're asking them to catch the ball outside the paint and score baskets at the rim. I think it's implied that we expect them to dribble and make moves to get there. Otherwise we would post them on the block more, make entry passes, or else just have them distribute to someone else when the catch the ball so far from the hoop.

Whether that's a good plan or worth it is up for debate, but I do think it's the source of a lot of turnovers. It's also a source of layups.

To add, its been pretty obvious teams are waiting for our bigs to catch it on the block and quickly double team sometimes 3 guys close in quickly. Our bigs aren't prepared to either make a quick power move or quickly pass to the open man. Turnover city.

No doubt the scouting report is out that our bigs can't hold the ball when they touch it. How many times does Ellis take it to the floor when he's 4 inches taller than everybody around him. It's maddening.

Only guy I'll feed on block is deberry. Ellis and Clark have to get points the junkyard way.

I disagree a little. Ellis is the main culprit. He both travels and gets stripped. He's far and away the worst on the team of the players who get significant time. Only Jenifer and Moore are higher in TO's per 40 minutes but they aren't in the main rotation really.

Of the regular players. Ellis at 3.7, Shaq is next worst at 2.5. All other players are at 2.0 or under.

I don't think Clark or DeBerry have any serious issues with holding onto the ball. Ellis has literally gotten worse in this regard from last year.

Can't listen tonight...can someone listening give a couple updates?

Nothing much, when asked about the environment Cronin said we better be focused on in between the lines. If we are worried about anything else we are in trouble.
He expects/hope some of our veteran players can get them through any environment distractions.
Did say next year the game will be probably after Xmas.

Just hopes the game is about bball and nothing else. Aka hopes students don't yell derogatory comments, players don't swing on each other. But X is prob one of the least classiest programs I've seen, from a fan base and players so I'm waiting to see why pops off.

I wish someone would call in and ask Cronin why turnovers plague this team for the 2nd straight year. What are they doing to maybe fix it. It's been worse this year than last IMO.

As of right now we are .5 turnovers less but we average 8 more possessions Tha last year. Based on the turnover ratio...that would equate to more than two less turnovers. Of course we still have the meat of the schedule so you could be right. Either way...it can still be much better
