Ronnie Johnson transfer

BearcatTalk

Help Support BearcatTalk:

You know guys one good thing that came out of that idiot on our board?

We all stuck up for each other and are beloved Bearcats sometimes people fight on this board but its good to know when someone talks crap about our cats we got each others back.

Excellent point. Let's stand together for the next 3 weeks :)

Actor: Denis Leary. Character: Fallon ... "Hobo from Purdue. I hate Purdue. When's the last time they ever won anything anyway?" Movie: Judgment Night.

Back on topic..... Im conflicted about Ronnie becoming a bearcat. Not sure there arent better options that may be available. UC and Memphis are favorites but believe that others are trying to get involved. Experienced point guards are tough to get and obviously are in high demand. Just unsure at this point if its the best move. I trust the staff though.

I wouldn't be upset if he landed elsewhere. I'd rather get a freshman in '15. By the time he'd be eligible Caupain and Johnson will be JR's and Morman will be SO. If UC got Graham or another JUCO they'd be a SR. It would make sense to land a guy like Justin Jenifer or the kid Mitchell.

I agree. Caupain is the point guard of the future, and I would rather not bring in someone who will be in the same class for him to compete with. Getting a highly regarded recruit like Jenifer or Mitchell in the class of 2015 may better for team chemistry.

I agree 100%. If he lands here it might be an indicator of the staff's confidence about landing a PG in the 15 class.

More indicative of having someone with high D1 experience than confidence. They will sign a pg in '15 and with the options opening up now anything can happen with the last 2 schollys.

I hope you're right. Adding to the talent base is never a bad thing. The wave of transfers from year to year seems to have increased exponentially - Maybe it will benefit the Cats this off-season.

I have seen Ronnie Play many times in HS and at PU and trust me....we don't want him. He is fast and can play a up tempo game but he is Not the type of UC player we have or want. Matt Painter is a fine coach and is trying to run a good program, Ronnie cant fit into that goal.

With all due respect, why should I trust your opinion over the opinion of the guy who has resurrected the program and taken us to the tourney the past 4 years?

If Mick wants him, and it appears he does, then I am on board.

I trust Mick also, and I have no doubt that Ronnie could turn out and be a fine player for us, But I dont think the up-side is there, and I do question how much we want him.

Bryce Dejean-Jones will graduate from UNLV and transfer. UCLA, Kentucky, Cincinnati have all inquired...I would really like this pickup.

temple big man Anthony Lee is also transferring. But I would assume there would be a block on going to a team in your conference

Let's understand that interest doesn't necessarily mean you're gonna sign somebody. What it does is gives you options to choose from and find the best fit. Interest could be as little as an inquirey or a scouting. It could be as mich as a full court press to sign a guy.So let's not think that just because UC is interested in a guy that they are coming here. Johnson and Mitchell will visit and one does not do away with the possibility of the other.

Early list of schools interested in Purdue transfer Ronnie Johnson includes Auburn, Cincinnati, Memphis, Pitt, Xavier, among others.

Just announced that Eron Harris is leaving WVU to be closer to home.he is from Indy. That's close. Any interest?

I wondered the same. Also saw Etherington from IU is transferring and can play right away. I'm not speculating him here...just saw that he is leaving as is Harris from WVU.

Regardless, it should be interesting.
